    I have a 2023 JCW Mini Cooper Convertible with 10K miles. No issues to report. It's the only car in America that's shorter than a Miata, can seat four people, a sun-roof or full drop top convertible and handles like a go-kart. It's the true 'do-it-all car. It's extremely well put together with premium materials, fit & finish. Best bang for the buck.

    The Lotus comment - now I can't "unsee" it - thanks ;-) I've had very good experience with the Minis we've had 2 - R60 S All4, a F56 JCW, a F54 S All4 and my F54 JCW All4 - with the exception of routine maintenance no major issues (i.e. nothing requiring me to take to the dealership for). Changing brake fluid every 2 years is about the only odd thing but BMW seems do want this done across the line so okay.

    I own a 2022 Mini Countryman JCW with 16000 miles. I’ve had the steering column replaced, a creaking sound appeared after this repair that took 3 visits to fix, one of the ALL4 badges came loose and had to be replaced, and a turning light located near the side vent needed to be replaced. That said, I still love the car and Vista Mini in Florida has been great. Everything was covered under warranty. Also, the run flat tires it came with only lasted about 15,000 miles. I replaced them with Toyo Open Country 225/55R18’s. They look way better IMHO. I hope this helps. Thanks.

    I have a 2013 R56 MINI, around 70K miles on it, and it's only started to have a couple of issues creep in within the last year or so, and I've barely babied the car. Basic stuff like brake pads, tyres, etc, the biggest being a wheel speed sensor fail. My last MINI was an R53 and that had a head gasket go. A big job to get repaired, but you can find replacement engines for pretty cheap, and tbh that was an issue that was all my fault (not putting enough water and oil in it like an idiot. I was a silly kid) that could've been averted if I'd have looked after the car a bit more. So in my experience, MINIs are pretty damn reliable.
    I'm looking to go back to an R53 next, this time a Cooper S, and make it a bit of a project car - I want to learn to upgrade it by myself. Even if I were to get something "more practical" as an everyday car, I couldn't bear not having my little gokart for weekend drives.

      Incredibly reliable now. I'm also just past 65,000 miles. So my JCW gets a lot of mileage and endurance testing as it were. Your car sounds like it had a flaw in the tensioner if it went at 29,000 miles. They don't normally do that. I had a 2008 Cooper S with JCW tuning kit. True. Although the block and heads are the largest expense. But the specific output is same as a B48 making 300ftlbs. Or a B58 making 450. I think in those higher output applications they have different internals and sometimes different compression ratios. But I don’t know the details.

    How has your interior held up over these past 52,000 miles? Any tears in the seats, problems with switches, and how about the electric window motors - any issues with those? My old Gen1 went through half-a-dozen in the 3 years I had it. Thanks!

      Stitching came loose in the upper drivers side bolster. It was under 50,000 miles at the time and was replaced under warranty.
      Mini problems with any switches or electrics.

    BMW has to up the power to match the JCW Clubman's 300bhp you can't have the estate version ending it's current model with more power than the Hatch JCW's version it goes against what we all got brought up to expect?

    • @TheMINIac
      @TheMINIac  Рік тому

      They up the power for the outgoing F56 and we lose the manual.
      It doesn’t it need it. Plus it dilutes the GP3 brand. What’s the point of the GP3 then if they’re all 300 horsepower.

    I have a 2015 Paceman. What are your thoughts on this model?

    • @TheMINIac
      @TheMINIac  Рік тому

      Incredibly rare and sold in low numbers compared to other models. Hard to find so when you find one they tend to be well taken care of because usually the people who bought them, bought them because they were the Paceman.

      Yes, that is perfectly normal for a new car to leak all of its oil on in the first month. Make sure you do a monthly oil change as well.

      I did the rear brakes myself. But as some of the other stuff was under warranty I let the dealership handle that. I’m not confident I would install the spark plugs correctly so I let the dealership handle that as well.

      The current generation does not, I repeat NOT, have the issues the previous generations did.
      I should know. I have had several pass 100,000 miles without issue and my JCW won’t be any different. Just as reliable.
