Was watching some older reactions and noticed a lack of new uploads and even posts on socials. Last time that happened with someone i watched turned out they passed away in an accident and i didnt know for ages. Glad thats not the case this time around
An absolutely stunning arrangement. (There's another one for those playing along. lol) Matt shines, his verse is like velvet and his passion for what he's singing comes through so authentically. I feel like they use Mitch so well, almost like a floaty relief from all the sucker-punches the rest are delivering. Scott and that grit are now a power couple, and my girl Kirstie... Mama Bear has found her growl and I am here for it. Her belt is insane but her lower range is like honey. (And Kevin is Kevin, the man is so damn good at everything!) We've entered the adult stage of PTX and their sound just keeps improving somehow, whilst not overshadowing the beauty of their earlier work. I don't get how they do that!
After they did The Prayer we all thought they were at their peak, then they hit us with Kiss From A Rose (another Matt gem in it) and blew our minds. After that they gave us Pure Imagination/ Christmas Time is Here as a little brain relaxer just so they could turn around & hit us with this! How do they keep getting better?!?! Their voices have matured like fine wine and I wonder how far they can go! They are amazing. Great reaction to this song. Matt has been here almost as long as Avi was with the group. While Avi has a once in a generation voice, Matt has been maturing & his voice is getting more flexible, powerful & he really seems to be enjoying being a part of the group. He’s a good fit!
I mentioned a long time ago -- when God does a roll call in heaven, there are at least five angels who are mute -- they've loaned their voices to these angels among us. These singers connect with our souls.
Never heard anything so beautiful in all my life!!! If they don't win a Grammy for this I'm done with the grammy's! God and his Angels are just so full of love for this group!
Thanks for sharing this with me! If you’ve not delved into PTX, since Avi left, you’re really missing out. I think Matt has actually improved the band. He’s not a better singer, but he’s a happier singer, and it changes how you sound. This song is a prime example, they are so into the music, and they’re expressing it so beautifully, because they believe in the meaning. You might want to start with Amazing Grace, to update your PTX experience. Btw, you are slaying right now! Your hair, gorgeous, makeup perfect, and those lips…wow!
This is a masterpiece from Pentatonix All 5 shined in the song, but together they created something completely stunning. The best version of O Holy Night I have ever heard ( and I am 61 so I have heard many versions) ❤❤❤❤❤
I can’t even begin to explain how many times I’m truly moved in this performance/arrangement. Bravo Pentatonix! Matt & Kirstie stole the show for me this time but they are all so phenomenal and together, chef’s kiss. Love them, love this song, and loved your reaction. Happy New Year! 🫶🏼

@@alan-freeman - I sometimes pause her reaction if I need more time to read and think about some text, especially if the song she's reacting to isn't one I know well so I also want to pay attention to it. I like her use of text to reduce the amount she has to pause the original video, leading to less disruption and a shorter video. Pentatonix arranges their songs in group sessions where they start with a general plan (who sings lead, etc.) and improvise as a group to get something they like. Their "sixth member", Ben Bram gives input and advice and eventually produces sheet music. If they record as a group there can be more changes in the studio, As for production and vocal engineering, the group has become very knowledgeable over the years so they and Bram produce. For their original songs or when they want a special sound there may be other producers and engineers involved. Finally, they have a genius mixer, Ed Boyer, who specializes in a capella groups. He does sound positioning, layering, filtering, effects, etc. as needed, but usually minimally.
There is a video on UA-cam, the "Making of Evergreen" which goes over the recording of their last Christmas album "Evergreen". Ben Bram is in most of that video and you can see their process of making an album.
Thank you for your analysis. It was very educational. So glad you liked this. It is my fave song on their new holiday album. I look forward to any of your other PTX song reactions. They have 3 other videos from their newest album and 2 of those also have live Vevo videos. One of them is an original led by Kirstie and written with help from Kirstie and Kevin.
I know when I am emotionally moved......my hair stands up on my neck. Their voices are so clear and the timing is spot on. It's all majestic on every level
What a lovely reaction and analysis of this fabulous rendition by Pentatonix! To me, they have grown and developed by a mile since the forced break of the pandemic, they are just so powerful and passionate - can it be they’ve gotten better? If you want to see another recent release, please check out Kiss From a Rose (live VEVO session video, please). Kevin breaks out his electric cello, which is always a treat, and Matt shines in that cover as well. Loved your reaction, thanks. Peace …
It already has over 1.9 million view and counting. They did it justice and beyond. Thanks for ur reactions. And you are a beautiful woman. Sorry had to say it...
Wishing you a safe, healthy, and Happy New Year! I'm so glad you got the chance to share your reaction to this epic video with us! It's always a treat to see you respond to PTX's songs, and this was no exception. This is a spectacular arrangement of a well-known song, and I think with all of the videos they've released PTX has definitely stepped up their game this holiday season! For me, Matt and Kirstie stole the show. Matt's soulful and emotional solo highlighted his warm voice and amazing upper range, and Kirstie's ending belts just took the song to a climax it's never seen before. Mitch was...well, Mitch - perfect in almost every way, as we've come to expect from him. Scott was really showcasing the "grit" he seems to be using more and more, and of course his riffs and runs were amazing. I'm a little disappointed that Kevin didn't seem to get a chance to sing, but his percussion (and the silences without his percussion) emphasized the points in the song where he used it. All in all, this song was the highlight for the holiday season for me, and I appreciate your knowledge and ability to convey that knowledge to a non-singer like me. Thank you!
This song, and Sounds of Silence, are truly a tour de force from Pentatonix. Good music should provoke an emotional response - if these songs don't move you to tears, you have no soul.
Wowsa! I continue to maintain that Pentatonix’s arranger has the wonderful advantage of having worked with all these voices for so many years giving him intimate knowledge of all the singer’s vocal strengths. Such a powerful arrangement and performance ❤. Big shout-out to Matt, he was given the opportunity to shine and he didn’t disappoint! So many voice colors, textures and dynamics, loved it! I couldn’t help but notice that Kirstie’s high, sustained belt occurred on an “ah” vowel (di-vahn) lending a very nice open throat, voice-box and embouchure to fully blast that note. Isn’t that the vowel we all want at the top??? Love your breakdowns of vocal production paired with your response to what impresses you both musically and emotionally. Searching for more of your Pentatonix reactions now….
They as a group have grown exponentially...check out their live video of "Kiss From A Rose" (Seal)...just as good (It's my Xmas present to you!!!). Oh, and I always like your reactions for your passion and knowledge of music !!
Aaand I literally just saw this on Charismatic Voices FB page that they will be doing a live stream together in 2 weeks announced an hour ago as of the time of this post so guess shes OK just living life travelling the US.
This is my 1st time seeing your channel. Nice rendition. Absolutely love Kirstie Maldonado especially when she performed Disney Melody with Voctave. Sorry, but David Phelps literally blows them away. As well as Voctave with Tiffany Coburn as the featured vocals. Hope you will listen to the 3 songs provided you want to hear PERFECTION in voices. Hope to view more.😊😊 Ron
Kerstie is usually best in her Alto range. My favorite is „rather be“. And her sass in „Havanna“! - Although I have to admit that her sustained D5 belt in the end was beyond impressive!
Kirstie is a technically a mezzo-soprano with a lovely upper alto range and lower soprano range. However, at each of their concerts, Scott introduces her as their Alto-Soprano.
@@AlishaYouch Their ranges are all so wide so while they have a starting range, what they actually sing during a show is likely covering the "roles" of quite a few ranges, haha
Happy new year Julia. Belated as it is. I love this group. I went to see them last year on the hottest night in Phoenix, 120 degrees when I showed up. I had to leave. I'm beyond a little old, and it was so hard to be there. I bought the ticket before I thought about it. But man, even though I think I made six songs, I loved them as I thought I would. They admitted it was so hot that night. Luckily I got home. I miss you to Julia. I'm not on board that often. I love your reviews though, I wish you the best in this new year,
This just popped up for me, and Wow! I hadn't heard this arrangement from them before, don't know how I missed it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention:)
Where do you get so much knowledge for someone so young. I've been musician for over 50 years and your assessments are spot on . Cheers love. I'm coming back for more.
Lovely job here with Pentatonix ............ I have to say as good as this is THE BEST EVER IS BY HOME FREE .... they blow you away with two great leads - Tim firstly, then Austin when bridging up to his register and chorale majesty is shear brilliance.
Julia... this is the first time I have heard one of your reactions (actually two because I listened just a moment ago to your reaction to Home Free's A Man of Constant Sorrow. Hi Julia. I'm a huge fan of your channel. I've been using your videos along with some other video lectures to "raise my music IQ". I've been a singer since I could talk, but I learned everything by ear. So, my knowledge of music theory is pretty poor. But it's getting better, and you're one of the people I have to thank. About a month ago I was talking about music with some friends and a few people I had just met. After hearing me talk about music for a few minutes, one of the people I had just met asked me if I was classically trained, which I definitely am not :). So, I guess this is just a long winded way of saying thank you for making me look cool in front of my friends. In all seriousness, thank you for making these videos. Cheers.
Just realized I haven't seen new videos from Julia in like for ever... Las I watch was in December -23. What happened? Does anyone know? I miss your in dept analyzes and you charming personality! Hope all is well!
If you look at her release schedule here, you'll see that she's not very prolific on average, so no need to worry yet. Hopefully it's simply because she's doing things that she enjoys more ;)
Wow! You must also check out their version of Seal's Kiss from a Rose, it's insane! For a more traditional version of this song, listen to Jussi Björling. Elisabeth did a reaction last year, I think
Great reaction! It's been said several times but Kiss from a rose by PTX will 🤯. This was their first release that told me they upped their games by 100. Subbed for more PTX! That was a lot of reading on my tiny phone😅
The "sixth member' is their arranger Ben Bram , he has been with them starting with "The Sing Off" & knows them well. Watch "the Making of Evergreen" to see his work behind the scenes.
Fabulous perfmance and arrangement. Thanks for reacting. To save you from embarrassing lashing....they've never been THE Pentatonix. Just Pentatonix or PTX.
Thank you for reminding me about this. Trombone Shorty's version changed my mind about "O Holy NIght." I never cared for it until I heard this version on Studio 60. ua-cam.com/video/_rayDO-gS4Q/v-deo.html
I would like to take a moment to Say I appreciate your channel and I truly enjoy your genuine reactions and emotional responses to what you are hearing. And to that end I would like to strongly recommend a Metal Singer ( Russell Allen) From The Band Symphony X arguable one of the best Metal singers of his generation ...at least. The Song I would love you to hear and react to is (A Winters Dream: Prelude pt.1) off the Album (The Damnation Game) you won't be sorry. Past that anything Russell Sings is worth listening to so clean and powerful.
I love how you break the vocals down.. Thank You. I do have a request.. Can you do a breakdown on Sebastian Back from Skid Row. 18 & Life would be a good start.
Great version. If you haven't heard Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles) doing O Holy Night / Hallelujah, you need to give it a listen. Powerful. Her singing Stay is the most emotional video I've ever watched (perhaps with the exception of Hi Ren). It's a song about the "other woman" and she was going through a divorce at the time. Make sure you see the official video.
Julia i no you have covered some sabaton on your channel in the past. I feel like you should check out some of tommy johanssons work too! His cover of "She's Gone" is an absolute masterpiece! feel like it would be right up your alley! :) Great video as always!!
Was skipping around and re-watched your reaction to Beast In Black, then wondered how you reacted to Tommy Johansson. WOW! You haven't. You Must! Many to choose from. Try - You Raise Me Up.
Love watching songs just hit you in the feels. If i could make a request. Stven rodriguez, The devil wears lace. This guy has a fanstastic grit to his voice.
"Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whichever applies to you. The weather here in Greece is a balmy 49°C with clear blue skies, we hope you've enjoyed this Ryanair flight, I've been your pilot, Julia Nilon."👩✈
This reaction was genuine! I liked it a lot. I would like you to react to the Brazilian, owner of a unique voice, self-taught singer, winner of Sofia Vergara's Golden Buzzer on AGT 18, received by Jennifer Hudson on her program, GABRIEL HENRIQUE, in the video Something Beautiful on your UA-cam channel.
Mitch did a convincing impersonation of Freddy Mercury from Queen, with his robe, retro sideburns, and mustache. I almost did a double-take. He looks just like Freddy Mercury!
I'm just curious what has happened with you. It's been 7 months since a video post. Love checking out your channel. I hope everything is ok..and I hope you are coming back soon
I loved your channel, it's wonderful. I would really like you to react to the Brazilian singer GABRIEL HENRIQUE, he already participated in the program América’s Got Talent and received the golden buzzer. React to Gabriel Henrique singing something beautiful on his UA-cam channel, pleaseeee! Thank you 😊😊😊
Agree this is the best version of O Holy Night ever. It has all the feels. (BTW - typo in the comments - Kirstin hits a D6 at the end, rather than D5.)
You MUST do Skid Row. 2 songs. I Remember You and Wasted Time. You will be blown away by the lead singer Sebastian Bach. His vocal range and control is unreal. I guarantee you will be blown away...

After hearing me talk about music for a few minutes, one of the people I had just met asked me if I was classically trained, which I definitely am not :). So, I guess this is just a long winded way of saying thank you for making me look cool in front of my friends. In all seriousness, thank you for making these videos. Cheers.
Julia is awesome! I cried with you
Only just got round to watching this but I'm so glad u did this one. Thank you Julia 🙂🙂
That was a BEAUTIFUL reaction and analysis...so good! New subscriber here...keep 'em coming!
Pentatonix are the Royal Court of Christmas music!
Just realized I haven't seen new videos from Julia in like for ever... Las I watch was in December -23. What happened? Does anyone know?
I miss your in dept analyzes and you charming personality! Hope all is well!
as this is the last video you uploaded...where are you??? I need you in my life
If you look at her release schedule here, you'll see that she's not very prolific on average, so no need to worry yet. Hopefully it's simply because she's doing things that she enjoys more ;)
Happy new years Miss Julia and everyone here!
I'm so glad you watched this.
Wow! You must also check out their version of Seal's Kiss from a Rose, it's insane!
For a more traditional version of this song, listen to Jussi Björling. Elisabeth did a reaction last year, I think
hey hope you're doing well! we haven't heard from you in a while
Great reaction!
Any one in the know where she went? Oo been 7 months
Thanks for explaining what you mean by “distortion”. I thought you were saying that the voices were being distorted artificially in post-production.
Thank you 💖
Look up the Christmas episode of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. It's a wind choir, not vocals. But the arrangement is STUNNING! (Trombone shorty).
Thank you for reminding me about this. Trombone Shorty's version changed my mind about "O Holy NIght." I never cared for it until I heard this version on Studio 60. ua-cam.com/video/_rayDO-gS4Q/v-deo.html
My God you nailed it .
Mitch looks more and more like Freddie Mercury with each passing year.
I like this rendition, but not sure if I like it better than HF's version. Both stunning and beautiful in their own ways
My favorite top
I love how you break the vocals down.. Thank You. I do have a request.. Can you do a breakdown on Sebastian Back from Skid Row. 18 & Life would be a good start.
Great version. If you haven't heard Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles) doing O Holy Night / Hallelujah, you need to give it a listen. Powerful. Her singing Stay is the most emotional video I've ever watched (perhaps with the exception of Hi Ren). It's a song about the "other woman" and she was going through a divorce at the time. Make sure you see the official video.
Nearly overwhelming. I may be an atheist, but this was simply magnificent. I am undone.
😊You've gotta try their other recent one... Kiss from a Rose.
You need to hear Seasons of Love. Thank you for reacting.
Love watching songs just hit you in the feels. If i could make a request. Stven rodriguez, The devil wears lace. This guy has a fanstastic grit to his voice.
Dan Vasc cover blows this one away his is a true masterpiece just look around and ask
3 months ago? Have you quit doing these?
Up🩵
Mitch did a convincing impersonation of Freddy Mercury from Queen, with his robe, retro sideburns, and mustache. I almost did a double-take. He looks just like Freddy Mercury!
I'm just curious what has happened with you. It's been 7 months since a video post. Love checking out your channel. I hope everything is ok..and I hope you are coming back soon
Julia we need you to come back and react to So Hyang's Where Are You?
Muito bom esse grupo de artista. Adorei sua reação, eu iria gostar de uma reação sua ao Gabriel Henrique #SomethingBeautiful
Up❤
I loved your channel, it's wonderful. I would really like you to react to the Brazilian singer GABRIEL HENRIQUE, he already participated in the program América’s Got Talent and received the golden buzzer.
React to Gabriel Henrique singing something beautiful on his UA-cam channel, pleaseeee!
Thank you 😊😊😊
Up 💙
Agree this is the best version of O Holy Night ever. It has all the feels. (BTW - typo in the comments - Kirstin hits a D6 at the end, rather than D5.)
Where’s this gals been
she's doing only fans....
This is a standard a capella song. They never go to the standard, however. They always go for the difference.
Video Julia getting emotional is getting me emotional.
You MUST do Skid Row. 2 songs. I Remember You and Wasted Time. You will be blown away by the lead singer Sebastian Bach. His vocal range and control is unreal. I guarantee you will be blown away...
Miss u so much here Julia….😞
