Great editing man. I worked as a mechanic when I was young and for a year worked at an engine shop where all we did was rebuilds. Working on the internals is way more fun than working on a full car, but definitely more intimidating.
Hey Mike. It looks like you are using the oem shim on buckets. They are fine to use, however the cams you have gone for, although they are incredible bits of kit, they are billet, not old cold rolled steel like older cams. The billet cams are known for eating into the shims/buckets. I would say it's worth going for diamond like coating on the shims, or the same coating on solid buckets, or go for non billet cams. Otherwise you might start finding bits of metal. Awesome video man
In the future for 2jz builds go Fluidampr, alot of ppl have issues with the ATI fitting properly cus tolerances change on used engines n ATI went off a spec of a brand new GTE crank which is why they have a tendency to be too tight n not seat properly or go on at all without baking it to get it to loosen that 0.001mm.
How may miles were on the motor before you did the refresh? I have one with 78,000 miles and now has a Garrett 6262 Gen 1. wondering if I should get the motor pulled and rebuilt.
Looks great but I have to agree with your first direction. Black covers would have been sick. The stock blueish cover just never does it for me for what ever reason.
Does Outcast precision machining do "repairs" on the 2JZ ?? I need my valve seals replaced. I get random start up smoke and occasional smoke out the muffler after sitting at idle for some time ...
Mike I would really appreciate a brake down list of all the stuff you order & use to build you 2jz! I love the way it’s turning out, you’s did a wonderful job and most importantly it looks clean as fuck!!! Please help me out with a list, thanks for your info and time! Mike & mike great work guy’s ✨💯
Did u use acl bearings or oem Toyota bearings for big end and mains on 2jz .sorry for stupid question I used Toyota bearings. With std clearance . Planning on 450kw @ flywheel. 1000cc injectors .272 cams I got 2jz ge vvti. With 2jz gte oil pump .
Holy shit this build is gonna be absolutely beautiful! Have u maybe thought about getting a second top cover and paint match it white? I think that would look absolutely insane.
Why didn’t you just took the block and head to a machine shop to get resurfaced to make sure it’s all even and to tolerance & had the cylinder re-honed ?
Motor and Engine are both correct regarding a car ICE. motor: "a machine, especially one powered by electricity or internal combustion, that supplies motive power for a vehicle or for some other device with moving parts." engine: "1 · a mechanical tool or device ; 2 · a machine for driving or operating something especially by using the energy of steam, gasoline, or oil " but really its just a dialect thing. unless you want to be one of THOSE GUYS that corrects someone when they say "pop" instead of "soda"
Why not go with forged internals? If you're going all out with the build why not do it right the first time? Would be sad ruining the prepped head whenever a rod/piston says bye bye.. Edit: I just did my research, turns out rods/pistons on the non-vvti GE are basically the same as in the GTE except for compression ratio. Makes sense not building it then. g35-900 might still be a bit over board though no? :P
it would make sense to do forged or go all out now because what if later down the road u wanna up the hp or boost your gonna have to take apart the engine again and possibly rebuild the whole engine to match the effectivness of the new parts with the even newer parts to make sure u get maximum output of the engine rather than doing it one time and just having to tune the car with OBD readers n shi if u get what i mean well me personally thats how i would do it
@@itsreallytheo and people run OEM, PHR, etc. without issues how is that a reason to recommend it over another? It’s still overpriced and out of stock.
@@itsreallytheo Yes, and others, but I’m not sure what that’s got to do with my question. Why recommend DM? Legit question. I don’t know why people recommend them and I see an opportunity to ask. Thanks.
Good catch on the oil pump everyone! Still learning as I go with building this car, I have the correct one ordered!
you will want the trigger wheel to go with the pump.
also why port it.
Your video just helped me so much. I've been trying to pull the damper off my 2jz and couldn't and your video just showed me exactly how to do it😂
Glad we could have helped!!
When you pulled the covers off the head was so clean inside wow. Perfect candidate for boost bud....
If you want another good movie to play in your office I found the perfect one, its 1995 thunderbolt with Jackie Chan. Better than FF movies
is that the one where he has an early evo? i feel like i remember that
That is true
Stunning build! But vapor honing all the old aluminum parts would be the icing on the cake!!

That blue on the valve cover is beautiful
Loving the new intro, keep up the amazing work on the channel!
Can’t wait to see when this project completes !
Nothing like a good ole oem cover beautiful
Lunch break upload perfect
I love your videos, it's incredible that you can film for Adam and also film content for your channel too. Keep up the awesome work.

Oldschool deck with a block! lol love it man good luck on the build
I’ve been thinking about getting those titan Motorsport pulleys, they look gorgeousssss
Bro, dam one of the cleanest engine rebuild I've ever seen..... love it
looking fire Mike an nice job on the head Mike2
It’s gonna look so clean in the engine bay Mike ! Love the blue 👌🏻
Brotha I can’t wait to see it in the bay 👊🏼🦾🖤
Mann, I'm happy I converted to an OEM plus guy. Shit looks so sweet.
Loving this build Mike!!
Awesome build video, I can't wait to see her finished!
this car is gonna be insane mannnn
Looks straight from the factory
Hey Mike! Videos are amazing as always. This car is going to turn out so sick can't wait to see the end results and first drive 🔥🔥
Gold engine cover to match the trim spec*

I am definitely getting stranger things vibes with the music in this video. 👍🏻

Omg i feel for you my anxiety went up just looking at that mess mike ahhhh 😂
Great Video!
The Soarer in the intro is making me miss it more. You should buy it back/build another one.

Sounds like some stranger things music in the b-roll! Haha
What’s that rotary tool with the extension that is used to clean the block, looks handy?
Any brand/model?
Make this the top comment if you think mike should bring the NSX to a Honda meet!
nice work guys! which headgasket did you go with btw?

Why reuse the old non vvti ge pump vs switching to a vvti oil pump which would allow you to then use the 32t trigger wheel and oem crank sensor?
@@vic2982. exactly, he's using a vvti head...so it has no place of a distributor.
@@vic2982. no shit, you're just rewording my original message is my point.
I have a head I need worked asap. What's mikes turn around times? Was going to shoot to headgames but turn around takes awhile.
What song is in your intro? It gets stuck in my head everytime I watch a video lmfao
It’s an unreleased mix from my friend Halcyon!
Hey Mike, any updates on the search for the civic coupe?

Mike where did you end up picking up the vvti head from?
just wondering, how come you need a vvti head? why not the stock GE head??
Nice build cant wait to see it driving just when building a car its alot of work but in the end much more rewarding .build not bought.

Stock block gang bb lets get it!! Lol
Oh hell yeah
Mike, you kept ge non vvti oil pump. What about crank trigger?
Hopefully he notices before dropping the motor in, as it would have to come back out to change the pump. Good eye on that!
Good catch! Don’t know why I didn’t notice that
@@diiviinemedia GE VVTI pumps have the same crank trigger provision as GTE pumps FYI
@@diiviinemedia also use vvti crank timing sprocket, its way more accurate compared to non vvti 👌
I hope the supra gets the TRD wing and front lip

The ge head flows better on the exhaust side just saying
amazing as always

Did you hone the block piston walls?
How much HP you gonna be shooting for with the stock NA bottom end?

yes
Don't know how you got those washers on

surprised he hasn't already sprayed and installed the wing and mirrors
Oh yuh
What’s happening to that mkv?
The stable strong
Nice

Never was a fan of OEM valve covers and coil cover. Like the Rad Dan bottom timing chain cover look.

nobody notice in the cams box ''adam son'' 😅

GE oil pump..............................................................
This video would’ve been 1000x better without the stranger things music
hi
RELOCATE that oil filter!! You'll thank me later....
Pls tell me your going twin turbo
And suprise suprise your going single.....so boring
Twin turbo is just more money, more issues, less room, and more heat. Single is really the way to go.
So where is your twin turbo 2j?
Get a dm oil pump
Terrible suggestion
