This video is a big moment for me, you guys know me as someone who loves mostly aesthetic car modification, but with the Supra I knew I needed to go above and beyond and not only make it look nice, but perform just as well. Seeing this thing get closer and closer to completion has me so excited, the level of quality put into this is insane. Its also the most i've ever wrenched on a car before myself, and I have to say i'm pretty proud of it! I hope you guys enjoyed this video and cannot wait to continue wrenching on this thing!
Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to build your exhaust manifold, Mike. It's been awesome watching this build; your attention to detail is prodigious, and you're truly building something special. I look forward to seeing the rest of it come together, and hope to have the opportunity to see it in person someday.

That’s hands down the cleanest single person engine install I’ve seen on UA-cam. You may have hidden some mistakes in the edit but damn although it was clearly long you made it look so easy and simple
The easy part is done, now time for my favourite part personally. Wiring is just relaxing to do.
You live on a compound with a handful of jz experts and you’re doing it on your own. So much respect for that.

I'm sure others will point it out, but the PS reservoir doesn't work with a front facing intake manifold. you have to use a remote reservoir for the PS.
This is the first time watching your video… i actually enjoyed it because you’re not repeating shit over and over… glad you got this far!
Mike, one thing that is missing is belt plate/guide. On the right side of oil pump next to trigger there is an extra bolt hold. Belt guide plate goes there.
Remote mount the resevior, its super common with aftermarket FFIMs. I have mine over by the brake booster.
Before pulling the timing belt tensioner it’s good practice to give motor a good rotation to see if everything is timed. You can wedge a pry bar to simulate the tension motor will provide.
Great freakin work. That bay, the engine, the manifolds, all amazing work.

Make sure you hit the corner of your cam caps with rtv where the valve mates so you don’t have a leak there! Also I hope you swapped your pilot bushing while it was out since you’re converting to a manual trans! Clean work man, keep it up.

Screwing the coils with no rocker covers on severely triggered me lol, whilst at the same time sayin you wanna seal the engine up ha. This is gonna be a beautiful build and love your meticulous details.
GTE power steering reservoir needed, should be a few laying about at the compound 😅
Yo mike dont forget to loctite the allen head bolts for the super damper! ive seen them back out and get flung out and cut up a radiator hose and cause a car to almost crash at the track cause of it! Also curious to see what that manifold sounds like cause usually its a no no to do 3-2 pairing on an inline 6 cause it sound like a v6 (gross)

Damn I need that PRP stud kit on mine. You can run a PHR power steering relocation reservoir makes it clean.
Chase bays and PHR makes power steering by relocation kits for that style intake
Maybe look into changing the pump as the factory turbo power steering pump has a remote reservoir to accommodate factory forward throttle body. The n/a pump you are using is different to turbo

Love the content Mike! Most guys relocate the power steering reservoir over by the strut tower. PHR sells a kit! Had to do it on my VVTI swap on my Supra, pretty easy so you can clear the manifolds. Can't wait to see her done!
TT supras have them mounted on the strut tower. He's got an NA PS pump
Ace job Mike, my first engine swap i was nervous and i did it at the side of the road engine out and new one in 2 days and I was driving it. The second one someone had removed it without me and got stuck that was a nightmare, I just wanted him to stop helping.
I think you might have a GE oil pump installed. I could be wrong but don’t recall seeing Aisin making a GTE oil pump.
Awesome to see the motor and chassis as one. I hate to point out that with the few things missing on the build, they would be much better delt with the engine out the freshly painted bay. At least in my experience and method of pulling the subframe with engine I like to route the lines/fittings even transmission/clutch prior to engine install. One and done.

Looks really good! Maybe cut the bing off of the PS reservoir and tap it for a NPT to 90 degree -6 AN fitting then run some nice black AN lines for the PS setup. High pressure line on the pressure side obviously. Unless you have to remote mount it? Can’t wait to see the finished product!

The reason why it hits the intake cause the turbo powersteering pump runs a external rez only the n/a pumps have the filler on top of the pump

This is soo cool to watch. I imported a RHD targa top. Motor is done, I am also doing the same, just saving up to get a t56 magnum tranny!

yanked the motor out, took her apart, rebuilt with forged internals, put her back in the car, wired up, all fluids, crank her up .... and listen to her purr ... OH WHAT A FEELING
You should ceramic coat the engine bay before you install more parts! It’ll make it soooo easy to keep clean for years down the road. Carbon collective has a high heat ceramic that would be perfect for the engine bay!
ATI Version 2 you can use the Original Belt or the Oem Belt..

That's a GE power steering reservoir. You need to convert to the GTE setup. That's why it's not fitting with your intake manifold.

I’m going to get another cover in the future that’s used and try that, but for now gonna stick with the OEM+ look

Mike , the oil tank for the power steering is not there on a 2jz GTE it is sitting ot the left shock absorber tower

Looks super clean! are the GE pistons a higher compression than the GTE ones? IIRC GE engines are 10:1 compression, I swapped in a non VVTI GTE head on my MKIV years ago but ended up putting in forged GTE pistons and rods to keep it 8.5:1cr

Excellent content, the one thing I have to comment on is how you keep saying you don't know what your doing. You obviously know more than you think and can do way more than you give yourself credit for. I've been a technician for about 21 years and I still learn new things every day. Anyway, you are smashing this build and I can't wait to see you enjoying it when she's done. BTW have you given your Supra a name yet?
What’s the gasket kit you mentioned when doing the valve covers? I gotta do valve stem seals soon, which also means new cover gaskets…
Hopefully that will have good flow for wastegate, hopefully it won't boost creep, looks like it could boost creep

Someone already mentioned it, but you are missing the timing belt plate/guide. part no is 1132446010 for the 1jz, 2jz is prob a diff part no.
Make sure to wipe down that exhaust manifold or you'll get fingerprints in it when you start putting heat through it.
