Firestorm was honestly incredible. The ring of fire added an essence of terror to the ring so common in other BR's due to it completely destroying everything. Amazing that they could do it without hurting gameplay. On top of that, BFV in general would make this list. If they added one more year of production, the new maps, vehicles, factions, etc. that would have been added honestly could have kept the game alive for another year or two and give more time to the production of 2042. Pity.
If we got the eastern front I think more people would look back favourably on bfv. The Pacific update really gave the game a new lease on life which they cut short immediately after.
@@boricua1151 It was fantastic. I feel like BC2, BC2:Vietnam and the MP for MOH 2010 was the best run of DICE. Every map was on point for the modes. A perfect little run.
It was horribly designed. It was a throwaway game for DICE. They left mechanics in the game that weren't ever intended for that game. Like they left headshot bonuses which encouraged people to sit back and try and earn score chains from a mile away. The spawn system was terrible. They divided the teams into two, and you had no choice on which half you were on. The issue with this was that the "spawn on the front" option had you spawn on the furthest member of your half of the team. Bringing this full circle, guess who was the furthest person back on your side of the team? The snipers trying to whore score chains. Last thing that sucked was the chokepoints. This game was really just a bunch of DICE experiments and the biggest one was map design. The chokepoints probably wouldn't have been so bad if they had fixed the score chains and spawn system, but they never did. Those two issues alone ruined that game for me and the overall flow of matches.
I can only wonder what a Singleplayer only The Division experience could be like. The world building is amazing and it has incredible potential for great storytelling. If you'd like to immerse yourself into this world, I recommend the "New York Collapse" book and The Division's audiobook.
Agreed. The whole atmosphere is brilliant. It looks amazing, walking through the city. But needing 3 clips to kill an enemy, and the whole looting/raiding mechanics … it was so what I had not expected from a Tom Clancy game. Tried it twice now, still love the looks and details, but it just doesnt work. This mixed with Wildlands/Breakpoint storytelling and good SP and optional MP though, that would be gold to me.
Me and another guy from Europe played Firestorm a lot. It was usually me against him. Sometimes we seen other people on it which was cool. But we played it like the film Enemy at the Gates, but without using sniper rifles. It was so cool and intense just us two on the map crawling for ages just to creep up on each other. Sad that it died. We became good friends through our love of Firestorm. The game Rainbow 6: Patriots seems like it would have been an amazing experience. It looked like the story would have been quite dark and gritty. I wish they had of made that game.
Why BF2042 it's not mentioned here??? That game could have been absolutely insane if they did it right from the beginning as to what the community expected. Also Hazard Zone behind a paywall was another huge mistake like Firestorm
I put it over 500 hours into Simcity 2013 and enjoyed the multiplayer mode with my friends. I honestly have many fond memories playing that game and to this day is probably the best looking City builder. That being said, I put in equally as many hours in C:S because of the immense modding potential right out of the gate.
Only one game i'll forever miss dearly - Gigantic. it was the absolute best hero shooter/melee game ever. i still have the most hours on Gigantic on steam than any other games even though its been dead for a few years now. heartbreaking stuff man
At the top of my list would be Brink by Splash Damage. SD shaped the team based MP FPS genre for years with Q3Fortress, RTCW MP, and Enemy Territory. But when they tried to branch out with their own IP it bombed. I wonder how much of it was because their name and brand had been hidden behind the id software name.
I met one of my best friends on crysis 3's multiplayer years ago, very fond memories of that experience. I don't think Titanfall 2 failed in any way, it just didn't go crazy with it's player count. Yeah the release window stifled what could have been but the game didn't really suffer for it, it had consistent and numerous content drops that added classic maps and more customisation options, more titans more guns. The hacking catastrophe was more putting the game to bed rather than choking the life out of it, as player numbers had dwindled massively by then. Since that point, the game has stabilized and still has a loyal player count. The game isn't dead, just living quietly.
It wasn't just Sim City's launch and servers that were bad. The thing that i remember really angered the people who brought it (Including me), was that the Devs lied to us constantly during development about how the new engine worked. They told us each household had a family that had jobs or schools to go to and each day the citizens would go about their routines. Except it was apparent very quickly each citizen left the house at the same time, and just went to the first available job, and then at the end of work went to the first house that was available. It completely killed the whole concept of it being a simulation and the people who lived in the city were just robotic. This is something City Skylines was able to adapt properly and its why that game is still around and Sim City is dead.
I was a massive Division fan. As strange as the game mechanics were, if the devs had just tightened up the stat numbers to be more pronounced and made all weapons seriously lethal, then it could've been a goat. Alternatively, guns could've been a mid game introduction and had way more melee combat adding the extra threat of having to avoid well armed patrols and later getting rushed by melee enemies while pinned down by high level enemies.
I hated it when ubisoft removed the camping spot ladder in dz checkpoint 2, thats what made the darkzone alive because all the players in the server would work together just to kill 4-8 manhunts there and it was hella fun
MAG was a game that i wish did so much better, the beta was an absolute blast and the gameplay was fun. but the lack of clan options and unbalanced sides in the game made it hard to play after a short period of time where one side being over populated was always winning everything in the game and getting in game advantages because of it.
Homefront: The Revolution. I only played it a year after release, when most of the bugs and optimization issues were fixed. It's still quite raw, but offers great mechanics and a surprisingly immersive world, especially if you play it with minimal HUD.
If BFV didn’t make firestorm and put those efforts into the multiplayer and stayed away from cosmetics or at least more realistic cosmetics I think the game would have gone down as one of the best in the franchise. It has some of the best gun play in any fps, amazing movement mechanics and animations, really good tank mechanics, and okay aviation mechanics.
A very unknown game but defenitly a great idea was/is heroes and generals. Even tho the game got sold and the new owner now wants to remake it with a small donation of the fans ( 2 million which is insane for a 50 k veterans) so yes sadly it’s dieing but atleast it had an amazing run and a very fun way of using stretagie and fps gameplay
Crysis 3 multiplayer was great with the couple of environmental weapons, car kicking and street sign cement hammer. Gotham City Imposters was really great at simple wacky fun.
I was up there in the top 30 on Xbox for firestorm. The loot glitches and the TTK adjustments ruined it especially when updates were months apart. More than half the people I knew quit playing around the looting situation.
Firestorm was a hell of a lot of fun. Too bad they screwed it up with a paywall and didn't make it the one free part of the game like a Battlefield version of Fortnite.
This is a weird one, but Bushido Blade (1, not 2 which for reasons I’ve never investigated, just felt horrible) Bushido Blade was an amazing semi-physics based fighting game. Any character could use any weapon and their proficiency with weapons would be different so one character could get a different play style out of it than another. Or for example the smallest character couldn’t use the heaviest weapon very well and even fall over from time to time. Also, there was no health bar. A lethal blow was lethal and rounds could last 1-2seconds, or, for 10s of minutes if both fighters were dodging and parying at the same level… But what I loved most, was button mashing doesn’t really work nor does putting in combos very quickly even if precisely - because moves need to be in real-time. The timing of the moves had to work and combos were more or less discoverable by logicking out the next move. (An overhead attack couldn’t be followed up by an overhead attack because your weapon swing leaves it low, but if you do a lower attack then maybe you can chain it together, and in that way keep the momentum going for a few more moves. Blocking also worked similarly. And it managed to give all that without it turning into a slow, clunky, clumsy feeling “sim”. It had the excitement and vibe of a Virtua Fighter-esque experience. It was dope. Nay… it was, totes dope
I was so disappointed with the division. I played it early at a games convention in Taipei, and basically just like you said, I went in expecting tactical, and was gobsmacked to discover loot and levels. Never bought it because of that.
played crysis 3 mp for a decent bit. sad im not able to fully experience it now im older and understand games better. also on pc. there was no way i could do the advanced movement on controller. the division i never liked the concept of. the looter shooter concept but with the look and feel of a realistic tactical shooter really does not feel right like as u said. i remember lawbreakers. i think i only played a few minutes. in like a beta or something. seemed cool but i forgot what happened exactly. just remember it never took off. for me the games that will forever stay with me that didnt make it are blacklight retribution and dirty bomb. 2 f2p fps games on pc. blr is still playable on ps4. i absolutely loved blr and so did a good bit of other people as theres an unofficial revival of the game. its in a discord server where someone put together being able to play the game again. ive just never gotten around to doing it as its not just download and play. then dirty bomb, the game is still up on steam and community servers are there so its nice to be able to still play it. just that theres only like a few servers with players on. the gunplay was so good. i miss them both. shatterline slightly fills the void of my f2p fps itch and gives me some db vibes but its not the same. and then there was anthem. i was excited when the announced anthem 2.0 but then they pulled back on that and just was like nah fk it nevermind. from what i briefly played, i really liked the interceptor and the whole combo mechanic. the mech suits and flying around was really cool too. and what followed anthem? godfall. i reeeeeally liked the aesthetic and the concept seemed cool. but seems like it was mostly just a pretty game. i did pick it up on sale a little while back and will still try it though
Battlefield was just perfect for a Battle Royal Game. It already had huge maps, good vehicles and destruction. It could easily be one of the best if not the best Battle Royal Game. I still cant get who decided to put that game behind a paywall after Warzone was so successfull. Makes you wonder how those people always get those jobs.
Hyperscape was definetely not amazing but I had some great time with its fast and high-skill-ceiling gameplay. If there weren't so many bad decisions made I think it could habe survived for much longer...
Agree with this list completely. I also would have thrown Anthem in here. Fantastic concept and fun gameplay, but a non-existent endgame, rushed development, and a horribly negligent and ultimately abandoned post-launch support killed it. I will never forgive EA or Bioware for that as they both share blame in its failure.
I actually had a lot of fun with firestorm I took to long to try it out(was already pretty devoted to PUBG as my BR) and by the time I started playing it the player base disappeared
Didn’t even get a chance to play firestorm and I feel it would have been way more successful then the current wz if they actually marketed their games right
Nether should be here. It was the best PVP, PVE FPS survival. Not fricking zombies but really great monsters and bosses. Great game with great atmosphere. Unfortunately devs didnt make it because of money and cheaters :(
The Division is probably biggest dissapointment I had in games. As you said in video, rpg aspects of the game completely ruined the whole experience. If it didn't had unecessary leveling system for guns and characters, bullet sponge enemies/players, and actually focused on realistic damage with all it's gadgets, mechanics and massivve multiplayer with awesome visuals, it could be a really great pvpve with storytelling and occasional multiplayer sessions or open events. And on top of that they made second game simply copy pasting all that rpg crap just with different looks.
BF5 is actually a fantastic game now, if they had just kept supporting it and stopped messing with the TTK it would have been amazing. The core gameplay was solid, 2042 on the other hand cannot be saved.
The only game that I would recommend to this day is The Division 1. I joined this game in year 4, found the atmosphere and gameplay amazing. Apparently I missed all hardships... I still play this to this day, especially now that I'm on PC. It really is an amazing game, even if it took forever to get there... Also, Div 2 is just bad in comparison, I'd just avoid it tbh. ( 500+hr player from day 1)
Gigantic will always be the "what could have been?" game for me. It had everything going for it, but due to poor business management they ended up in the dirt. Fucking shame
Although I agree with the games that you included in this video, I will have to add Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon Phantoms. Pretty much The Division, but f2p and a vary awesome game. I'm still sad about the fact that Ubisoft killed it :(
Titanfall 2 will always have a place in my heart. Still play the campaign once in a while just to get that feeling back. Truly sad it got done in this bad.
Loved Titanfall 1 was just upset that the "campaign" was played out in multiplayer PvP matches. But, was excited about Titanfall 2 and did play the multiplayer a little. Can't remember why, but I didn't like the multiplayer as much as Titanfall 1, and therefore I stopped playing it. Game might've gotten over shadowed by a different game release at the time too. I should really play the campaign in Titanfall 2, just to see how good it was.
Same. I still go online and play Frontier Defense and enjoy myself. Heck, on Xbox I still see a farily active community base there. They're still playing it.
It is, but at the same time it's still visually impressive (especially on Series X with 4k\60 FPS boost option which basically runs on PC High settings) and Division 2 is actually a great looter-shooter, one of the best out here, but lack of propper support from ubisoft is baffling
@@LevelCapGaming always though the same, Firestorm was always critically underrated Simply because BFV (which i also thought was way, way better than people said)
@@LevelCapGaming the cheating was horrendous. You could not win a match because clans of cheaters with a collective 2k wins in the squad won every single matcj

I do feel that Evolve was released too soon, if it came out today i feel it would do better. But the devs also killed it with the micro transactions being almost required.
Evolve was so unique and a lot of fun! I really liked the hunters' voice lines! The server closing announcement said something like "balancing a 4v1 game was impossible in the beginning" was their reason. But in my experience, matches weren't always one sided. There were definitely winning on both sides.
I felt like Evolve was fundamentally broken. They needed to go back to the drawing board early on to fix the gameplay loop of running circles in the map. Asymetical multiplayer games have been successful, but not even the f2p could've saved it in the long-run. The humans looked fun but the monster gameplay loop was too unbalanced.
I always wished that medal of honor war fighter had a better chance. They had a lot of great features ahead of their time and some great maps and environments
I didn't like how tacky the campaign was, especially after how awesome the 2010 campaign was, but I really actually enjoyed warfighters multiplayer. They did some cool stuff! Like the Blackhawk rope insertion in certain areas was sweet!
@@Thamb0 man 2010's campaign is still my favorite shooter campaign to this day, it topped MW and MW2 for me and I was left jaw dropped by the missions and gameplay.
The Medal Of Honor games were amazing the Airborne title really stood out for me on PC then the 2010 and war fighter titles all had something different in them that i later saw other titles trying to steal
the division’s story is extensive. There are more than a few books, video essays on factions, tons of stuff all based from the first game and now the second one added even more to it.
I don't feel like that game failed though. It was not a highly anticipated title, just an under the radar cool game that pretty much did what it set out to do.
Titanfall 2 was such a huge kick of Nostalgia, after playing the first game and just how absolutely amazing it was. It's sad to hear that EA/Respawn has come out and said they've canceled a future installment to the TitanFall franchise

And they were my favourite faction too.
You beat me to it! That game was awesome... for about a week and then there was nothing left to do. I was really disappointed that they gave up on it so quickly, like they never meant to release it
Yeah. That'd be my suggestion as well. Anthem got screwed despite solid mechanical moment to moment play. (It was just literally everything around that which destroyed it's chance.) The whole revamp getting canceled due to lockdowns really hurts.
Evolve holds a special place in my heart. I think about that game all the time. I will never forget my first Max evolution, I put my war face on and took the fight to them 😂
Dust 514. It was an fps that had a well balanced skill tree system, territory control, it was linked to eve in some tangible ways, some items lost in a match were distributed among the player in that match so you could get a really cool item without having access to it. The mechanics were very satisfying and fun. I used the Scrambler Rifle and it was such a unique and fun weapon that I still think about it to this day. I've had dreams about using the Scrambler again. Massive shame. Also the social aspect of the game was one of a kind .
Dust 514's legacy reminds me of MAG's... What really bothers me about these games in particular is that you just literally cannot revisit them, lost to history.
TFall 2 is one of mine as well. I think the campaign has slowly gotten the recognition it deserves. The relaunched Medal of Honor had a great MP and pretty good story, but didn't seem to get a chance. Ghost Recon: Future Soldier remains one of my favorite MP experiences, but Ubisoft didn't do crap to stop hackers which quickly ruined it.
I never got to play Medal of Honor's reboot/relaunch. I kept hearing its multiplayer was basically battlefield. By the time I remembered it existed, they shut down, or at least announced they would be shutting down the servers.
Man titanfall 2 failing is one of the biggest tragedies in gaming history.
It makes me sad every time I think about it. The most fun multiplayer I've ever played.
Just replayed the campaign yesterday & the day before. Always a great time.
I came here to say this. Easily one of the best and sadly most slept on first person shooters ever made.
You are so right.I loved the first one and the second as well.
the game didn't fail, the scheduling of the release did

for me the games that will forever stay with me that didnt make it are blacklight retribution and dirty bomb.
Titan Fall 2 and Battlefield fire wall 🙆🏿♂️😪😭 we shall forever mourn you.
The Division just needed a offline single player mode with online coop and it could have been legendary.
I feel like if they rereleased lawbreakers as free to play with in-game skins, they would do pretty good.
sad that did not get to play it
Still play Evolve since it came out, play on Xbox. Still my personal favourite competitive multiplayer game.
You forgot Medal Of Honor Warfighter. How could you forget that one.
Anthem. Sometimes I jump in and play but the game was a big failure but I love the concept of FPS, RPG and flying around shooting everything
"BF HARDLINE" ONE OF THE BEST FUN GAMES SPECIALLY RESCUE MODE
I miss lawbreakers so much...
Great video!
I always think of Anthem when I see titles like this... That game showed promise on paper but failed at execution...
The world wasn’t ready for LawBreakers. It was released too soon.
Titanfall 2 is a tragic story, but the game is massively over-hyped by the hardcore fans, its not that good.
Does anyone remember homefront or brink, they were so hyped up and ended up being heavly criticized
I dont care what anyone says the division is one off my favorite games ever and I still play it too this day
All these years later I'm just learning that Crysis had interesting multiplayer lol
Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017 should be on here. EA cut it when it had its highest player count
not sure about multiplayer game but one gem that doesn't take recognition anymore is game Cold fear
The Culling (at peak)
I'm so hurt over it's loss, it's unbearable
So one of the things that they all had in common is HACKERS. That's why I've given up on MMOs. How can so many Hackers have fun ruining so many games.
Bf5 and 2042 ended battlefield 😕
BF5 is actually a fantastic game now, if they had just kept supporting it and stopped messing with the TTK it would have been amazing. The core gameplay was solid, 2042 on the other hand cannot be saved.
I mean, did The Division fail? It got a pretty successful sequel and the game itself was financially successful with a dedicated player base for both.
Elite Dangerous … so much potential. But squandered.
For my money at this point the only community breathing more hopium than the Titanfall one is the Star Citizen backers
If I could play the division again from beta I would do it knowing all the bugs. To me personally its the most fun game I have ever played
It still puzzles me how Crysis 3 has way less success and popularity given the game design
I miss Evolve so much :(
also ea didnt p;ick release date for tf2. respawn did. theyve spoke on this plenty of times.
( 500+hr player from day 1)
I couldn’t get enough of firestorm.
titan fall 2 didn’t fail, it had the worst launch, it was just competing against bigger games
Lawbreakers was so good, but skill gap killed the game xD
Titanfall is a classic example why we need community run servers.
Gigantic will always be the "what could have been?" game for me.
It had everything going for it, but due to poor business management they ended up in the dirt. Fucking shame
People are ACHING for that old school BATTLEFIELD FEEL.
When's BFBC3 again?
Although I agree with the games that you included in this video, I will have to add Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon Phantoms. Pretty much The Division, but f2p and a vary awesome game. I'm still sad about the fact that Ubisoft killed it :(
Crisis 2 actually had a great multiplayer, but you were guaranteed to have a cheater in every other lobby.
Nah dawg the multiplayer boring as hell. 💀 You just shooting bots 90% of the time and that ain’t any fun
God, I hate EA for ruining it
@@talosgak1236 you don't know what you're talking about 😂😂😂
The problem with The Division was they marketed a completely different game.
Facts
It is, but at the same time it's still visually impressive (especially on Series X with 4k\60 FPS boost option which basically runs on PC High settings) and Division 2 is actually a great looter-shooter, one of the best out here, but lack of propper support from ubisoft is baffling
@@KingfishWatch I’m not talking about graphics. It was simply not advertised as a looter shooter. People found that out only near release.
Still the most disappointing game I've bought. I was looking forward to the survival-tactical-mmo they sold, but didn't deliver on.
@@YourBlackLocal dude wtf? It was definitely advertised as an online RPG game. RPG obviously comes with looting in case you didn't know that.
If they dropped Firestorm free to play today, I think it would be way bigger than most people would expect.
100% agree. standalone, f2p with some looting fixes, battlepass content and better anti cheats and it would be a hit.
@@LevelCapGaming always though the same, Firestorm was always critically underrated
Simply because BFV (which i also thought was way, way better than people said)
@@LevelCapGaming the cheating was horrendous. You could not win a match because clans of cheaters with a collective 2k wins in the squad won every single matcj
Such a waste it was .....BRING IT BACK!
@@LevelCapGaming I know that you probably can't really do anything but is there a chance that you pitch the idea to dice or make a video about the idea to release fire storm as a f2p game
I'm a battlefield fan and fire storm is probably my favourite battle royale and it's so hard to play
I do feel that Evolve was released too soon, if it came out today i feel it would do better. But the devs also killed it with the micro transactions being almost required.
the small onlin community for stage 2 is trying! xD
I wouldn't blame the devs. Thats the call of the money people.
@@Raldazzar2 stage 2 is not good tho. They casualized it waay too much and game lost its magic.
@@MrGeforcerFX same! If you haven't read Robert's Ridge, I'd recommend it, as 2010 campaign is based on that event/book.
The Medal Of Honor games were amazing the Airborne title really stood out for me on PC then the 2010 and war fighter titles all had something different in them that i later saw other titles trying to steal
I was just talking about that yesterday. Medal of Honor 2010 was crazy fun and the fact that warfighter flopped as bad as it did was upsetting
The Division deserved a proper single-player experience and story, akin to STALKER. The world of New York was absolutely beautifully realised.
the division’s story is extensive. There are more than a few books, video essays on factions, tons of stuff all based from the first game and now the second one added even more to it.
For me it was Hawken: Vehicular/Mech Combat crossed with an FPS is just plain brilliancy. Even though it was mismanaged, I miss Hawken so much :(
I don't feel like that game failed though. It was not a highly anticipated title, just an under the radar cool game that pretty much did what it set out to do.
nvm what i said bacuse HAWKEN IS COMING BACK TO PC BABY!
Titanfall 2 was such a huge kick of Nostalgia, after playing the first game and just how absolutely amazing it was. It's sad to hear that EA/Respawn has come out and said they've canceled a future installment to the TitanFall franchise
We can thank Apex for that.
@@declanjones8888 Apex is overrated.
@@bigballzmcdrawz2921 That's what I was saying, Apex is trash, plus they completely neutered the entire organization of the Apex Predators.
They're supposed to be a ruthless mercenary group, but Apex makes them look like a bunch dorks on TikTok.
@@declanjones8888Apex Predators is my go to faction in Titanfall 2, But like you said they look like a bunch of Tik Tards. (which is what I call Tim Tok users)
Also if it makes you feel better my friends who played Apex like Titanfall way more.
@@bigballzmcdrawz2921 Titanfall is goated! Whomever took down the Titanfall 2 servers may they burn in hell!
But glossing over that, the Apex Predators were a really interesting faction that we didn't get to see enough of and now we can't because now it's been retconned. And they were my favourite faction too.
Shoutout to DirtyBomb, the best hero shooter. Shout out to Diabotical, the best modern arena shooter.
Nexon destroyed Dirty Bomb, that game was addicting
DB was epic and absolute banger of a game....pouring one out for our fallen homie..
it was soo unique. For those that didnt play it, imagine if overwatch actually had good gunplay and movement
@@TheSense13 im hoping they dont destroy The Finals and Arc Raiders. Embark is soo talented and nexon just has a list of ruined IPs
@@s_for_short2400 Embark seems to have a majority creative control over their IPs.
Firestorm was the best BR out there. I wish they would bring it back and make it free to play.
You can still play it no?
@@ey1615 no one plays it
For me, it was Battleborn. I really liked that game, and it was just destroyed by the simultaneous development and release of Overwatch.
it was so good!
That game was DOA
A game I would add to this list is Anthem. That game looked and felt incredible in so many ways and had so much potential
You beat me to it! That game was awesome... for about a week and then there was nothing left to do. I was really disappointed that they gave up on it so quickly, like they never meant to release it
You know the video is about pvp and not pve games right?
@@talosgak1236 I’m sorry can you please read me the title of the video?
Yeah. That'd be my suggestion as well. Anthem got screwed despite solid mechanical moment to moment play. (It was just literally everything around that which destroyed it's chance.) The whole revamp getting canceled due to lockdowns really hurts.
Evolve, The Division, Titanfall 2. Such great games that I genuinely loved, Evolve especially hurt when it died off.
Evolve holds a special place in my heart. I think about that game all the time. I will never forget my first Max evolution, I put my war face on and took the fight to them 😂
Evolve looked like a pretty interesting title.
Hear, hear. Great fun getting a squad together and doing some damage.
@@kyuubicurry The twist was that it was designed to be played with a buddy. Unfortunately this was long before Duo formats became popular.
Ghost recon future soldier was something special!!
Expected Anthem here
Me too definitely
Shout out MAG on PS3. 256 player lobby's is crazy.
Great game. Better than bf conquest imo
