"The Island Bowl Collection" has a nice ring to it. Would love to see more like this!
I agree 💯 would love to see more burl and resin projects where the resin color showcases the burl!
Problem is getting some burls the same, lol. Thanks 😊
I think it looks neat. I like the way it turn out with the darker strip on top.
Beautiful shade of burgundy. Especially like the way it gets darker towa🎉de the rim.
Thank you very much!
I love the way you are showing your new way of taping. I personally prefer the quietness and hearing you explain your methods. This bowl is one of your best!!! Thanks Jim!
Thanks 😊
The way I see it, there are two types of channels. One where their is no talking and it’s just ambient sounds. The other informative, learning channels with voice overs to explain what is happening. Your narrative is so valuable. I think if you didn’t talk at all, you’d have far more questions like, “why you did this” or “why you did that”.
I love voice overs from a knowledge source like yourself!
I would tend to agree. Thanks for watching
"Oh look, there's William Shatner" 😂
Lol. Thank you very much!
Wow Jim! That bowl is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
I love the color. And the shine sets it off perfectly!
Thanks!
That black on the rim is just awesome . Kind of like fading into the red . Simply gorgeous !
It’s very unique. Thanks
I just love how this color turned out, with the swirls down near the wood, it really does make it look like an island. Surrounded by waves, so cool.
Thank you very much!
What a stunningly beautiful bowl, I love the colors and the darker edge really sets off the burgundy. Love it. It came out EXACTLY AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.
Thanks 😊
To my eye, that burgundy colour works beautifully with the burl and, like the chocolate browns, for me it is a better fit with the wood than (for example) the lime greens and oranges you sometimes use. Some will prefer the pizzazz of the bright colours, but I prefer the richer and warmer tones with wood, especially burl.
I can’t argue with that. Thanks!
I am new to this channel, but I am enjoying it very much. I love the way you teaches while you are creating those beautiful masterpieces. Keep up the beautiful work and just ignore the complainers, there always will be some. God bless
Thank you so much! Welcome aboard!
Being able to use a piece of wood with such a weird shape. Your craftsmanship or artistry is able to see it.
Thanks again!
Really love this bowl. It is gorgeously STUNNING. This has to be one of my most favorite pieces of yours. Fabulous job! In the final photos, the outside looks satiny where the inside us very shiny. Am I just seeing things or is it different on the outside? 💕😊💕🇺🇸
No, it’s the same with the darker ring on the outside, thanks 😊
Another beautiful bowl worthy of captain Kirk himself! I know it has its critics (like everything else) but I think epoxy and turning is a match made in heaven. I am curious to know more about your dust collection. I have a problem with thinner epoxy shavings sticking everywhere. For me the longer strings are picked up by the dust collector but I always end up with smaller shavings stuck to all metal surfaces.
I do find the resin seems to have static in it and yup, it likes to stick to everything. I don’t think there’s a solution to it. Thanks for watching!
Peace and tranquility is in that beautiful bowl. Can't have Shatner without Spoc.
True 🖖🏻🖖🏻 Thanks 😊
Just recently found your channel, The Husbeast and I love to watch together, your bowls are beautiful on the big screen! You said “There’s William Shatner!” And we howled! Thanks for inviting us into your shop!
Lol. Thanks for watching!
Oooooo, I love this! The wood looks like an island in a sea of lava. Like sanctuary in a sea of chaos.
Thanks 😊
Love it! Neat to see that a piece you didn't know what to do with became a full bowl 7 years later.
Got lots of smaller burl bowls like this in my inventory and now I have a way to work with them. Thanks!
I think this is my favorite bowl. The color, the fact you just used a piece of a burl and the darkened rim makes this project awesome. Loved the combination.
Thanks 😊
I HAVEN'T BEEN ON HERE IN A WHILE BECAUSE I'VE HAD MONEY PROBLEMS AND I JUST COULDN'T GET MY PHONE TURNED ON SORRY MY FRIEND BUT THAT BOWL WAS AWESOME KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WOOD TURNING KEEP THE WOOD CHIPS FLYING TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE PLACE BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Your here now and that’s all that matters, thanks!
Book title, Star Trek, The Island in the bowl anomaly. All It needs is the Enterprise orbiting the ring.
It turned out great.
Next time, lol. Thanks
Love, love, love this color! The customer who got this will definitely have a piece of art to show off.
Thanks 😊
Good Morning. Have my coffee and ready to watch!
Me too, lol. Thanks
Making my way through older videos. 😊
Love the island look, and that burgundy is so pretty.
Glad you like them! Thanks
I love how the resin morphs from the burgundy to the near black. Really beautiful.
Thanks 😊
I love how it appears to fade from a darker to lighter color. I also like that you share your mistakes and fails. Not many do that.
Thanks for watching!
Watching whichever if your videos - recent or older ones - in commenting I feel like an old, stuck LP . Constantly repeating: Awesome, awesone, AWESOME!!!
👏👏👏
🤣 Glad you like them!
I doubled over at the Star Trek reference. Mah man! XD
Dwayne will always save the day~!🤭
Lol, thanks!
Hi Jim another awesome bowl. You are right if something works for you why bother with something new. I love everything you do. I am an old lady of 75 and love anything to do with wood. You are amazing.
Thank you so much!
AWESME I like to see one in yellow green.
Thank you very much!
Lol William shatner 😂😂. LOVE this color. I bet less black will be even more stunning. The odd shape to the burl makes it more interesting!!
Yes, if I could have a redo on this I wouldn’t of mixed as much black. Thanks 😊
This is my favorite piece of work you have done. My initial response was to inquire about the price. But my finances don't allow any of your work. Absolutely beautiful Jim.
Thank you very much!
This Island bowl is absolutely stunning! In fact it's my favourite of all your work probably because of the colours your have chosen. If I may say so your eye for colour is amazing in everything I have watched you do.
Thank you for many many hours of sheer joy watching and learning from you.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
@@SpragueWoodturning Where do you sell the beautiful things you make, or is it just by commission only? I come from South West England.
there is something really special about island bowls. The burgundy colour is beautiful!
Thanks!
I was excited to see you using the 2 sized plastic bowls for forming the resin bowls. So much easier then the buckets. Love the burgundy.
Thanks 😊
Now that's beautiful. Imagine one in island Blue with some mother of pearl
Yes! It certainly would. Thanks!
This bowl is gorgeous! It had me ready to scream "Khaaaaaaaan!" 🙃😜
Haha, totally! Thanks
Ooh, love the burgundy, it goes beautifully with the pink/red tones in the wood and, like you, I think that darker band of colour around the rim is lush! Awesome! 🙂🌸
Thanks 😊
Great choice of color and love the darker rim, I think Kirk and Spock would approve of it!!!!
Thanks 🖖🏻🖖🏻🖖🏻
LOL! William Shatner! Nothing like watching an artisan at work with “dad jokes” as a bonus. This is a lovely piece!
So true, and my kids don’t think I’m funny, lol. Thanks 😊
Such a posh looking bowl. Shape is an elegant touch, the burgundy and the burl design are stunning. Again you continue to amaze us with your skills.
Thanks 😊
So Beautiful!! Love the burgundy and the darker rim! ❤
Thank you very much!
Wish I could give a second "like" just for the Star Trek reference. :) I like the darker color resin in this piece. Cheers!
Lol, thanks!
Thanks for posting all the inks you do! My little brother wants to get into woodturning since our family has a lathe, I recommended your channel to him. He loves it!
Awesome, thank you!
10:05 I'm a big fan of crystal purple but.... this color really looks nice 😊😍. I'm still working my way through your play list 💜💜 18:26 Mars, the "Red Planet," 😊😊 21:14 You're still too hard on yourself. Like I've said before, you're the only one to notice flaws where we all see beauty 😍😍
Thank you! 🤗
I think the burgundy and black was a great choice. The beauty is rich and luxurious. I don’t know why, but it seems that this is one of the best finishes you’ve done. They are all great of course, but this seems a bit smoother. FANTASTIC.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
I absolutely love the way this bowl turned out!! That burgundy is so deep! Beautiful work!!
Thanks!
I’m sure Patrick Stewart is turning green with envy.
He’s next, lol. Thanks!
Hi Jim bloody awesome bowl,as usual full of red hot tips. Who doesn't like free advice. Stay safe Ernie smith from brisbane Australia
Thanks for watching Ernie!
Actually, I think I'm probably a fan of that deep dark colour. Beautiful job all round. 👍👍
Thanks!
Thats got a real nice glittery shimmer in the light - love the darker ring and wow it is def a beaut
Thanks again!
These videos are absolutely mesmerizing. It's a great way to wind down and enjoy something truly artisan in the process.
Thanks 😊
Good job. I like the dark ring, too. Like Bob Ross said, there are no mistakes, just happy accidents 🙂
You got it! Thanks!
Beautiful contrast between the resin and the burl. When you where showing the inside of the bowl, the burl seemed to be floating. Very nice!
Thanks!
You have yet to disappoint. I look forward to Friday and your videos.
Great m thanks
Jim, I have not commented in a while but this one deserves one, nice piece you made there!
Great, thanks!
WOW! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Island Paradise. Love the Burgundy color.
Thanks Dave!
I want to give thanks to one of your old vids. I have a similar pressure pot to yours and it didn't hold pressure so I had to leave my compressor going all the time with regulator set to the rated pressure. After seeing your video, I took mine apart and redid the seals as you did and now it holds 60 psi for the full set-up time. So thanks for that video.
Great m thanks for watching!
Love the reference to William Shatner. That was funny.
Lol, thanks!
Lol, beam me up, Scotty!
I love that island effect you got and honestly, I think the dark ring at the top looks like a purposeful and difficult effect that adds visual interest! I do agree that this turned out pretty dark, but I really do love it anyway! I so wish I could afford stuff like this, but it's probably sold by now anyway.
Yes, it sold the week it was posted. Thanks for watching
Fantastic colour Jim. A magical desert island on a distant planet.
Totally! Thanks!
WOW! Love that burgundy color, it makes that burl stand out perfectly.
This is an amazingly beautiful bowl! Just love your work. ❤🙃
Thank you so much 😀
Burgundy and Burl is such a stunning arrangement. I love it!
Thank you so much!
Love the burgundy, the separation is actually quite beautiful
Thank you very much!
Love the burgundy color, great way to expand on something that you wouldn't have turned!
Thanks 😊
Absolutely stunning...The red and black really set off the island burl. Great job.
Thanks!
This bowl turned out so beautiful! It does give off very much Star Trek vibes of strange new worlds. The black on the top kinda feels like clouds like you'd see on Jupiter or Saturn!
It’s interstellar! Thanks!
It bowldly goes where no bowl has gone before.
you know Jim, that burgundy resin is very very nce, it is a rich color
and it go well with the Island.
I loveit big time ♡♡♡
Thanks 😊
Like a dark red wine or blood, but definitely an island look. From a map with yellowed paper, very neat! 💖
Thanks 😊
Wow! That is a beautiful bowl! LOVE the burgundy.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks 😊
Beam me up Scotty. A beautiful bowl. I love the colors in the resin and the burl is amazing.
Thanks! 🖖🏻🖖🏻
Thanks for the tip on dropping the handle on the Hercules and going in at 45 deg. for a cleaner cut. I've always gone in parallel to the floor so I'm looking forward to trying this and saving myself some sanding... As always, a beautiful finished product! Thanks for sharing Jim!
Thanks for watching!
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Love the color...the ring at the top really sets it off. ❤
Thanks 😊
Beautiful! I really like the darker rim/edge, also. Love the ‘foreign planet’ analogy. The reference to ‘James T. Kirk’ was snort-worthy! 😂
Haha, thanks!
It isn't Friday night without our enjoying another of Jim's turning videos. Hubbie and I have learned so much from Jim about woodturning and we never tire of these entertaining videos. Thanks, Jim. --Mary Lou and Paul
Thanks for watching!
I like the separation, it gives an ombre effect. Really lovely bowl, Jim! A really rich Burgundy shows off the wood well.
Thanks 😊
As usual another beautiful piece! Captain Kirk would be proud😉! Stay safe!
Thanks 😊 🖖🏻🖖🏻
I love the gradations in the burgundy... and the burl is offset beautifully by those colours!
Thanks 😊
That's gotta be one of my favorite turnings I've watched of yours. Love the dark rim detail even though you didn't do it intentionally as you said on the video. Bravo my friend Bravo 👏 👏 .
It’s a happy accident, lol. Thanks!
Love the small burl in the expansive world!
Thanks!
It always amazes me that I think you can’t make a bowl that I like better… then comes next week and I like it better. This is by far my favorite. And I love that the “rim” looks darker.
Thank you very much!
watched it before, and i'm still awed by this bowl!! so beautiful!
Thanks 😊
I really like the burgundy, and the darker rim is just what this piece needed. Also liking how the WaterLox finish is turning out. Thank you for all your videos. I first found your channel about a year ago. I went back and watched all the old ones and now look forward to a new one each week
Thanks for watching!
Jim it looks like my favorite dream island, only than one another planet 😁... Like always, a beautiful bowl, the colors are very nice, I like them 😀...
Have a great weekend Jim and family, greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it!
I’m not entirely sure why, but I think this is my favorite bowl yet.
Thanks!
Another gorgeous piece. I’m an artist, not a wood turner, but I find both the technical and creative content on your channel so inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
I love this... the burgundy colour is so rich and deep. Usually I prefer the pieces where the resin accents the wood, but the deep colour of this one makes it work for me.
I'm a relatively new subscriber, by the way, and watching your videos has become a habit while I eat breakfast. Never done any woodworking at all myself, but the process is so fascinating!
Great! Welcome aboard!
I really like the separation of color in the resin. I like how the dark is at the top of the bowl.
It's really nice that you show when everything doesn't go as planned...the bowl not being centered the first time it was mounted.
Thanks Janice!
It's a beautiful bowl. I really like that shade of burgundy. Gives off warm tones so it work nice as a centerpiece
I think so too! Thanks
You crack me up!!! Oh look there’s William shatner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol, thanks!
Ii LOVE this burgundy bowl. I watch a lot of turners and all for different reasons. Your videos tend to be a little longer but when I have the time you are my go to to see some real perfection. I love to learn and watch through your attention to detail. Of all my subscriptions, you are the perfectionists. You have the most patience and take the most time to get it right. So I don't mind the video being a little longer because you treat patience like a virtue. And your different approach teaches a lot like teice turning and fixer uppers and you are my go to for inlays. Anyway thank you for taking your time to show us how to get it right
I take a lot of pride in my finishes! Thanks for watching!
Oh, wow Jim! That is so beautiful! I really envy your talent...and the person who has that bowl! 😁
Thanks 😊
Soooo beautiful 😍 it is mesmerizing! I really like the swirls in the burgundy. It complements the burl features very well and contrasts the burl coloring so that it just pops. Magnificent!!!👌
Thanks!
Its a beautiful bowl, stunning. If anyone asks about the rim tell them you took a bit of inspiration from pottery that sometimes makes a feature of the rim LOL
Will do 😜😜 Thanks!
I don't know why it looks like a second pour either but it is stunning! Awesome job, Jim. 💜
Thanks 😊
That colour is really nice the shape of the piece of wood you used really does make it look like an island in a burgandy sea. Top class as always.
Thanks!
The double bowl sandwich casting looks like it is working well for you. Finished product looks great, color separation and all.
Thanks 😊
Another beautiful bowl.
Thank you! Cheers!
Burgundy is very rich-looking! Love the color gradations, especially the blackish at the top… don’t tell people you aren’t sure how that happens! It’s a Jim-specialty!!!
Lol, thanks 😊
Nice job Vulcan Spock. Live long and prosper. Like the darker rim.
Lol, thanks!
