Fr, I have this alternate start mod and I started in the dwemer dungeon underneath markarth as a wizard so I had to find a lockpick to get out then I walked to Helgan and did the main quest and it was a lot of fun

That's how you actually play skyrim, by doing sidequests first

I like how people were trying to dictate which quests he does when, where he explores, but didn't give actual useful advice like changing the field of view to achieve the visual effect he wanted from the beginning, or to sell his stuff at Lucan's before going to Bleak Falls Barrow.

This game is so broad and longtime players know everything about it but its so much more fun to explore on your own when you have never played the game yet. Keep that up and you’ll enjoy it WAY more than when you listen to everyone else how to play it.

I did not expect seeing your initial reaction of Skyrim to bring me this much joy. I remember being 12 years old in 2011 playing this for the first time on my XBOX 360. THE MEMORIES
Over the course of time I've easily completed 20+ complete playthroughs, each with well over 3,000-4,000 save points. I've broken the game with glitches, modded the game, I've done it all and someday I just woke up to hang it up.
Thank you for the burst of nostalgia today.
Still have my Xbox 360 and the Skyrim copy for it, I’m replaying that version now for gamerscore and nostalgia, still runs amazing if you ask me. Actually less frame drops than the Xbox One version with my mods on surpirsingly, Riften is also playable and not a slideshow 24/7 😅
Omg yeh soo true, I wish I could play it again for the first time, the first two weeks were some of the happiest I ever felt in life. After the two weeks though for some reason the immersion kinda fell apart lol.

The best part of skyrim is people not listening to the chat on what path you take instead its much more entertaining to watch you take your own journey and see what path you want to take
There is no “wrong quests” in Skyrim, you play it exactly how you want it in the exact order you want to do different quests and quest lines 😎 Loved the vid man 🔥

its great seeing someone experience this for the first time. Its also interesting seeing how you approach things and seeing how the game design either works well or fails to teach you how to do certain things. I share your pain with picking up every item I see, I eventually made a rule for myself that I only horde gems, jewellery and items that are enchanted. Everything else can be left.

You genuinely have to roleplay. The encumberment is annoying, so you have to pick up stuff your character would instead of looting everything.

its so nice to watch someone who is so genuinly just having a good time. Many video game youtubers make a thing out of complaining/being angry constantly, but this was really chill and fun. Its really nice seeing someone else enjoy a game i love!

Also, they're spoiling the hell out of the experience! That "Yurei" guy is literally telling you what the combination is for the door! If someone's gonna give you tips, they should be very surface level like "the guy you killed earlier dropped a notebook", and you'll figure it out on your own eventually! But that one guys was directly telling you the solution without even telling you how you were meant to find it! Pissed me the hell off.

If you like the idea of having to eat, drink and sleep but not the other parts of survival mode, I'd highly suggest looking into the Frostfall, Realistic Needs and Diseases and Hunterborn mods. I use them in every playthrough and they make the game feel more realistic due to having to worry about cold, food, water, diseases and actually dressing animals you kill.
The best part of Realistic Needs and Diseases: Not literally living off of salt
"iNeed" I think is the best needs mod given that it's pretty lightweight and just introduces the needs part
I also recommend stepping outside

A lil bit of background: They originate from Hammerfell - kind of like a desert-y place that used to be a part of the Empire but is now autonomous. You'll need some additional context about the Empire's history(I don't wanna spoil) to understand why, but basically Hammerfell got sick of the Empire's sh.. and became independent(kind of what the Stormcloaks are trying to achieve for Skyrim now).
So redguards are bada..s warriors and independence fighters. Good choice!

About the khajiit ability, yes you can just use magelight or a torch. Or if you become a vampire you get the same thing. If you were going for best strategic advantage then orcs or Bretons are the best choices for any playstyle. A LOT of enemies use magic or enchanted items in this game so the bretons 25% resistance to all magic is really useful especially against dragons. The berserker rage is literally just you become an absolute tank and murder everyone.
Yeah, take half damage and deal double damage for any amount of time is a game changer in any fighy

Everybody telling him how to play but not telling him the shit that could help him the most. One he had to figure out that he has to read the claws to get through the doors. The next thing y'all couldve told him was to get rid of some of his basic swords or weapons because right now he just needed one due to his carrying capacity being high. That's all he needed to know not what quests to do 1st.

In the part of the game where after you killed the spiders, you tried to go up into the hole with the bright light. I remember the first day I got this game, I was crying and screaming because I was so frustrated that I couldn't get "up" into the hole. I threw my controller, and then picked it up, and then I found the cave tunnel to the bear area and I felt so stupid. Seeing you try to go up into the hole brought back so many memories of my first playthrough of this masterpiece.

The lore is really deep but ulfric stormcloak and his buddys have one shared brain cell and it’s not very powerful

I love this. I’m so glad you had the same idea on solving the claw puzzle. I spent soooooo much time on it the first time I came across it. The clue was staring me in the face the entire time. So many times. But I swore I’d never look up any tutorials on my first playthrough and I appreciate you doing the same.
The side quests are literally what makes Skyrim as amazing as it is

Anytime I do a new play through I make the main story like the final thing to do before dlcs. I get all other game content done
but u wont unlock shouts until the first dragon quest when you first find out you are dragonborn so its kinda necessary to trigger dragon spawns unless u dont care about missing out on an entire game mechanic

I've got around 4500 hours in Skyrim across 3 platforms and all 3 versions released. Over 2000 mods installed as of the last time I played. I still love this game even after 13yrs!
So the story, someone else hasn't explained it and you don't mind me saying is this:
The blond guy who just spouts exposition is a follower of Ulfric Stormcloak, the guy with the gag. Ulfric challenged the High King of Skyrim to a duel for the crown, as was legal by Nordic tradition. The High King allowed the occupation of Skyrim by the Cyrodilic Empire, and Ulfric was not going to let that slide. Ulfric won the duel, which according to Skyrim law makes him High King. But because the Empire occupies Skyrim, and the duel was against their law, Ulfric was instead counted as a traitor rather than being recognized as a king. He led a rebellion against the Empire and was eventually captured in an ambush. Your character just happened to be crossing the border into Skyrim and was mistaken as a rebel and captured along with Ulfric and several other rebels, known as Stormcloaks. That's where the story starts off.
Ranger (theif stone) is the most broken build in the game: Marksman, Sneak, Alchemy. But unless you play the hardest difficulty you're just broken no matter what you do. Sword and board is probably the most fun though, causing problems is valid.
Skyrim mods are rather interesting, there aren't many places where I of all people find myself clutching pearls but the skyrim nexus is 100% the place for that.

I been saying the amount of sex mods for this game on nexus is gonna chase off most people who are not chronically online lmao they need to migrate all that shit to one of the other modding sites. It's annoying having to sift through a landfill of porn just to check what cool mods have dropped the last 30 days.
I always honestly recommend skyui and skse alongside the unofficial patch for a vanilla experience. Skyui just adjusts the user interface like your menus to be a little more intuitive and add search functionality. Skse is required for skyui to work.

Overall, it doesn't matter that much who you side with in Helgen. Going with the rebel gives you better armor starting out because you kill Imperials during your escape and they have better gear. Siding with the Imperial means you can raid Alvor's home in Riverwood. However, if you go with the rebel, you can do the smithing tutorial with Alvor to gain his favor and raid some of his stuff. Regarding mods, I would look at getting SkyUI setup since it is a much better inventory menu than stock - but I do agree with your playing Skyrim as close to vanilla as possible on your first time.
I can't count the amount of times that I had a stash pile of 100 carrots, etc, and would eat them all when I was out of potions. 🤣🤣🤣
