The emotion that Instant Classic creates every time they sing is unlike any other quartet. "Just turn and go" gives me chills every time I listen to this
Here's something that I realized. The secret to a great and emotionally powerful performance is to make it personally true for yourself. You'll never convince an audience of thousands is you're not convinced yourself. Theo lives the songs he sings, which is what makes him such a great lead, and David, Kohl, and Kyle live the stories that the songs tell as well. That's what sets this particular ballad sung by this particular group apart - they make it real for them. If you go and watch a lot of ballads, you can tell which ones have genuine emotion behind them (check out A Cottage for Sale by Newfangled Four, Ryan's voice cracks out of sheer emotion somewhere) and which ones just don't.
Absolutely - you have to have a group overview of the story, but each of the guys owning the song personally is what makes IC one of my favourite quartets.
A Cottage for Sale absolutely destroyed me emotionally when I heard them sing it. I went from, “this could be nice “, to an absolute emotional wreck by the time they finished it. Wow.
Grand singing of a Great arrangement of this song...written by the grand man...Jerry Herman for hardly ever performed marvelous "Mack and Mabel"...1974-75 ...with Bernadette Peters and the Great Robert Preston.
As in South Australia? tell me more? Are there Barbershop comps in Adelaide? or was it a special tour? I'm in rural South Australia and would travel to see this style of music. ( 2019)
I love how well they brought the song to life. It's by no means easy, but it seems considerably less difficult than, say, This Could Be the Start of Something Big, or How Could I Ever Know. The parts seem much easier. BUT, they executed the movement and timing so well it is just as beautiful
It's interesting, you'd think it'd be an easy song, but my quartet tried to learn this briefly, and we found it really hard! By contrast, we picked up Start of Something Big and HCIEK and found them both to be easier! And scored 79s with them. ;)
@@treesarecool12345678 Lol yeah I probably am but it must be said if it wasn't for the NF4 songs they did I would have never gone down the Barbershop rabbit hole; while they may not have the 'skill' down they definitely have made it more relevant to people who are looking for an entertaining AND skillful barbershop quartet experience.
I'd have to agree, however one is not "better" than the other, myself being still under 18 I can personally say I was hooked in by Mainstreet and NF4, but slowly my horizons grow as I discover and listen to more quartets, they are all fantastic. I think it's just style preference. ♡
So perfectly moving. Wonderful
Instant Classic is just so awesome. Top 3 easily.
Watch this video probably once a week. "Just turn and go..." Kills me every time.
Me too, Sheri. Me too.
I you really want a real tear-jerker, listen to the "Tennessee Waltz", by Masterpiece....absolutely stunning! ;)
Still watching?
@@anaselassal3322 always. Still one of my favorites
3:38 Theo starts out with vibrato and then immediately goes to straight tone as the others join… the attention to detail is incredible
Love these guys
2018 update : They finally sent them.
OH MY GOD THAT WAS THE JOKE
@@charlie-wf3bn glad they didnt send their lead instead
yes nf4 ftw
Couldn't help but reading it with Jackson's voice hahahaha
😂
One of the smoothest ballads ever performed!
That.......was amazing. They captured the heart and soul of that song. Incredible. At 3:13, the looks on their faces. They nailed it!

For sure. I hope I can get to that level one day

My first international I went to I saw these guys win. What luck? These guys are absolutely great
1:20 is exactly why Theo will always be one of my favorite leads ever
One of my all time favourites by them
Still sounding brilliant - heard them last night in Adelaide
