I was fishing in a small river in New York during spring (May). I used bucktail jigs, spinners, and rapalas before and after sunset, trying to target walleye, smallmouth bass, rock bass, and other panfish. I ended up catching a decent yellow perch by surprise, too. I wouldn't call the rock bass I caught while jigging a trophy even though I got excited and said it was one, but it did turn out to be the longest rock bass I'd caught at the time, although I've caught longer ones more recently. This was one of the trips where I started learning about fishing for smallmouth bass in rivers under streetlights at night and fishing for them at night in general, which is something I took advantage of in a lot of later videos.
This is one of many videos in the Lure Fishing series -- watch others for triple-digit numbers of fish, trophy fish, the tips and techniques I pick up along the way, and more!
