    Greatly appreciate the video and the perspective of how simple the replacement is. My only suggestion is to remove the fuel pump fuse first and run the engine to relieve fuel pressure or bleed it off at the fuel rail to avoid spraying fuel inside the vehicle. Out of curiosity, I'd be interested to know the age when most of the Corolla pumps fail. I have a 2015 ECO with 125K on the clock and thinking to do this as preventative maintenance at some point.

      Because the unit price for that BOSCH pump is about 450 USD, plus you had to replace the entire set of components, cover, support bracket, shield and housing, etc. That together goes into about 700 USD, then you have of course labour and tax, environmental disposal fee(if applies).

    Hey Peter, couple questions, lately, my engine has been turning over a few times before starting, I have removed the gas cap and listened for that buzz sound repeatedly and could not hear it. Once the car starts, it is fine, no stalling or sputtering. Also I have noticed a drop in my MPG's. Could this mean that my pump is weakening? I can hear my relay click inside the little black box under the hood when I turn the key to the ON position. SECOND QUESTION: Is it necessary to change the fuel pump assembly with the pump? Thank you for taking the time to video

    • @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor

    that makes me wonder when the fuel hose was disconnected: fuel comes out of it. there is an advice in the internet that you must remove the fuel pump relay first, start engine and wait for it to stall. this removes the pressure in the fuel system, which will avoid fuel spillage when you take out that fuel hose/pipe. Is that true?

    Hey I got a quick question maybe you can help me or someone on here. I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla that has problems starting up especially in the cold. I would say 70% of the time it cranks and starts up normally the other 30% I have to crank it a lot longer and the car sounds like it's not going to start (almost sounds like it going to die on me) but then it starts up after about a good 3-4 seconds of cranking it. I believe this is my feul pump but I'm not sure. Possible starter as well? Do you have any suggestions what it could be?

      Hello. Firstly, Toyota's all parts are extremely durable. I estimate, that this part last 300k to 600k. And quick check is easy. If motor runs and works ok, pump is Ok. If any idle or acceleration issues, then pump could be issue. Thanks !

    Looks like he was able to tilt up on the back of the seat to get access to the pump. It seemed to rotate back up counter clockwise as if the leg area was hinged. My 2001 Corolla repair manual read pull up and forward on the front leg area of the seat. I did this on each side through the doors and bring the three tension wires out from under the lower portion of the seat backs.

    I am just wondering...If the fuel pump is bad, why is there so much pressure in the line? If the fuel pump is bad then fuel is not getting to the engine and there would be not so much pressure there.

    • @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor
      @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor  8 років тому

      Fuel pump works little, if pressure exists.

    • @SemionCobileanschii
      @SemionCobileanschii 8 років тому

      The working pressure of the fuel system must be around 3.5 bar (50,7632 psi) . The fuel pump itself pumps a pressure of about 7 bar (101 psi), but it is being lowered by a pressure regulator to 3.5 bar (you should find it on the fuel rail or near fuel pump)

      keepitkauaiit If there is pressure in the fuel lines then the car will still start until it runs out of pressure and stalls, after that cranking the engine will still open the fuel injectors and relieve pressure. 😉

    Hi what is the name of the tool you used to remove the black clamp piece please

    • @BEEBEE159
      @BEEBEE159 8 років тому

      +Latoya Eddington That tool is called an adjustable strap wrench. They sell it at Lowes (Kobalt Household Tool Set; Item Number 464629). Lowes has a cheaper model also; but it gets poor reviews because the strap is not strong enough and it breaks. I would go with the Kobalt brand. Good luck to you.

    Do you have to siphon, and remove all the fuel from the tank first?

    • @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor
      @PeterFinnTheCarDoctor  6 років тому

      Run the tank almost empty, before the service.
