  • Final video for the Mary 1840, St. Louis Doll Quilt Experience.
Come join me as we look at how to take your first stitches in linen for the final tutorial on the Mary 1840, St. Louis Doll Quilt experience.
In this video I will explore stitching in three different progressively smaller fabrics to get you to the point where you can stitch on a small scale!
Labels were cross stitched up until 1840 -1850 and Mary's is no exception

This video was a light bulb moment for me. As a cross stitcher, I have a lot of cross stitch fabric scraps. Of course, all my quilt labels should be cross stitched. I actually started quilting in 2017 because my mother left many unfinished quilts. Most were almost finished and missing labels. I started researching youtube. I encountered quilting and cross stitch.
I learned from UA-cam how to make some very fancy labels. I labeled many of my mother’s quilts. I even did two presentations at two quilt guilds. They involved embroidery and ink pins. Cross stitch could be so easy and permanent.
My mother’s oldest wip was 70 years old. My sister and I finished it.

I’m so thrilled you were inspired to label projects and I think cross stitch will be a fantastic option !!! Your mother would be so honored that you and your sister finished her project. Such a tribute to her. I am sure I will have a large collection of unfinished projects that I leave behind too!

So glad to see this video. I had to cheat and finish up the doll quilt I started to hand piece by machine quilting and binding it because I needed it for my granddaughters birthday but I did get the top completed by hand. What a wonderful and calming experience it was and I will definitely be doing g this again. Thank you. I will go back and label her doll quilt now that this video is up.
