- Trying out the new DjinnBass 2 plugin from Submission Audio! It's basically a sampled Dingwall NG-2 bass and it's pretty sick.
Check it out at www.submission...

everybody needs a bass player 🤘🤘
for any alternate tuning I'd personally use the tuning function of this plugin. I use that a lot on the Umansky Bass and the Eurobass :)
I like the EZBass for everything that's not metal, but for anything that is metal Submission absolutely kills it!
Now I know how drummers feel
Tools like Djinnbass 2 are pivotal to the progression of heavy music and production. If everyone has the ability to sound absolutely amazing, it will provide an even better opportunity for truly innovative and unique music to stand out that much more.

@@KeyanHoushmandLive PREACH 🙏🙏🔥
Awesome point bruzzz ❤ until they make an ai song writing plugin we are screwed haha
Can’t wait to play the S series Bass by Solar .
Hope to order one soon .
Ermz... This thing slaps! Well done as always, BrOla!
Glad you're enjoying it.
Bought Djinnbass 1 yesterday, Really happy with it
That's awesome. We still love the original DjinnBass.
Ermin did a great job with this as always
Thank you!
Try out Spectre Digital Singularity virtual bass thing.
That is a disgustingly great combo with that head and cab. Fucking definition of face melting.
I used Amplesound ray for a few years, then tried glenns singularity that I could never get to sound right, then bought the first djinn bass a week ago, the cheapest and best of the 3 lol Was around £35.
Can't believe i was looking for this yesterday
Sounds sick but I prefer having a bassist to add their own creativity but I may end up buying it in the case of having no available bassist or bass😁
For all these midi bass programm..its maybe time to do a video on how exactly you go about programming midi and processing midi bass? Because its a nightmare to sit down and paint notes for 2-3hrs on a midi map and adjusting articulations etc vs using playing a real bass for half that time .. well there definitely needs to be an easier way of programming midi?
Just do it on a keyboard in real-time, quantize then fix the remaining notes
its definitely frustrating at first, for me it was a nightmare, but i think its just one of those things you just get better and faster at over time.
@@kindredkurse so it is gonna be a tedious process like i have stated.. you sit there with your guitar for reference and slowly paint each note etc.. and make adjustments later.. i would think this entire process would take a lot of time at least 2 hrs if not more.
@@RealGengarTV i don't have a keyboard and not planning on getting one. I don't play keyboard. I just want to learn how to program midi bass and get djinn bass 2 because 1 its cheaper than getting an actuall dingwall bass.,,,yea thats enough reason
@@vejichan you could get guitar pro and tab it out first. A bit more streamlimed, but it's not a big step. Otherwise, it's either a midi keyboard or a trigger pad, or being stuck with lots of manual labor. You could of course also pick up a bass and learn the instrument during the time it would've taken to midi it out.
There are ACTUAL physical basses that the "factory tuning" is B-1 E0 A0 D1 G1
Of course they are custom "which os why put factory setting in tinevsince that os wgat the tension and stromg size is calculated for.
But of course must of rhe ones that aound good abd xab tell the botes apart, are upwards of a 40 inch neck
Hey, could you please learn the song "Backwards Marathon" from Between the Buried and Me on Guitar?? Would love to see that! ❤
Holy mother of...
That is insane! So f...k.. heavy! I need that!
I’ve messed with EZ Bass before and that “position” feature is a cool one.
I still worry that this kind of tech can make for lazy writing, but if someone lives in the middle of nowhere and can’t find a real bassist, this kind of stuff can be a big help.
Just don’t kid yourself: y’all need a real bassist to lay down tracks to give your music flavor, just like you need a real drummer. Otherwise you’re gonna have super generic results.
you don't need anyone
just practice with programming for a few months and it will sound better then 90% of live bassists and drummers you could ever possibly find
@@its_not_fair9866 Exactly lol
People forget programming the instrument properly is just as important as having a good quality sound
Sound alone can't sound like a real bass
Ya but it’s soooo much better and more fun to play the Dingwall Combustion. AMAZING.
I feel like such a boomer for saying this, but I prefered the completely clean sound in the mix. For most of the history of metal, bass was always clean. Definitely mean sounding, but clean or with minimal distortion. I might add some of the grit track just for spice, because it sounded pretty good, but probably not the distortion track.
When you apply lots of distortion to your bass, the bass distortion blends into the guitar distortion into one fuzzy wall. Some people like that, but it's not for me. Guess that just means I'm old.
That's one of the big reasons we provide the raw DI track, so you can process it exactly as you want.
most metal bass libraries offer you raw DI track and pushed clean amp track (something a la Alex Webster) so there's that.
I’ve always found it’s a matter of balance with your stringed instruments y’know?
Like if you have a very tight and clean distorted (oxymoronic isn’t it?) guitar track(s), having a bit extra grit on the bass for the low end may help with giving it a bit more of an oomph.
Whereas you have a very high gain setting on the guitars, I personally prefer a cleaner sounding bass to help with deciphering notes and give (once again) a good push!
Again, it comes down to personal taste! I do agree here with the too much gain on all stringed instruments it’s hard to differentiate anything.
Too much of a good thing eventually becomes a bad thing!
I own a couple basses but I have a hard time getting them to sound good for metal mixes. I might give this a try and use something like MIDI Guitar 2 to convert the notes to midi and just drop them an octave in djinn bass. It sounds much better than my actual basses.
This track sounds awesome. Where can we hear the final track?
Ola please try Dimebag tone with Line 6 Pod Go
🔥🔥🔥cool ⭐⭐⭐bass ☠️
I’m a bass player since 2002 and have only recently picked up guitar for an album I’m recording. Why? Because there is no substitute for a real person playing the instrument itself. The dynamics, emotion, sense of creativity and improvisation all get lost in what is otherwise an artificially manufactured product. I guess it works in a pinch, but real instruments with real players behind them will always sound more pleasing to the human ear. It’s always worth the time and effort to learn another instrument and the final product is of a much higher quality. Those are my thoughts, anyway
Someone didn't get the joke
"Djinn bass... It's like you're playing bass, but good."
I have eurobass and I like it a lot.
I’m confused about the difference between this, Umansky, Eurobass 2 etc. They’re all intended for metal right? Are there pros and cons of each one?
so you have to program all the midi notes for this? If so... What a NIGHTMARE. Way quicker to just play a bass on a track.
Sounds a lot better than the basses the people these vsts are designed for can afford tho
Try to replace Steve Harris with that. Is it going to be any good for fast play like his?
Neat then I will upgrade when I get home in a few weeks, I mean I love playing bass and I have strings for drop e0 but man paying like 160€ just to record an album worth of low e stuff is expensive so I got the version 1, especially like you said if I want to go lower than e0 it's literally impossible to do with my bass
Nice bro
yo Ola, I see you often with standing desk, is it really convenient, do you mix it with sitting or not, and if yes, how does it work, does it change the height?
I found no reason to upgrade for Djinn Bass 1… except for the EQ.
Olaaa!! Ima ask again :)
Can you review the peavy valve king head on will it chug ? I’m referring to the first line btw , there stupid cheap on the used market and I’d argue there better then the boss katana or even the vypr
I bought the katana and the vypyr both suck and have no low end I bought them and returned them both at guitar center for a full refund!!!! Those amps are not made for rock or metal....I went with vox the 50 watt vox Cambridge is about the same money and is great for high gain stuff and rock or metal 🤟
What are people using to create the initial midi track with? Do you use a guitar? Keyboard? Or does it have to be a bass?
You can map on a piano roll grid or use a midi keyboard
I have a Mac, do I need Kontact for this, or will it show up as an AU?
Dangle dangle
Sounds good to me.
All my homies hate kontakt but this seems pretty goooodddd
yes
This is better than Nolly Bass. I like GGD a lot, but Submission Audio/Ermin has these bass libraries figured out.
Thanks. I was wondering how this compares to the GGD plugin. It honestly looked so unintuitive with the fingering presets.
My dream one day is to get a Solar Guitar 🤘🏼
The bass line is too simple... Tremolo, picking, slides, harmonics with slides, tension, muting on different string lengths, different tapping, etc. What will all this sound like?
Like nothing because you won’t hear any of that in the kind of mix this is designed for.
But how fast this plugin can go round Nurbugring, huh?
Under 7 minutes, Bridge-To-Gantry.
This, or the Nolly one? Anyone help me?
I have to admit, on my phone it sounds horrible…
If you're already a guitarist just buy a second hand 5 string bass, this plugin sounds absolutely god-awful and the audio clips on their website show that
@@lorcanmeister Thanks, I got my real basses already, just looking for a quick writing tool. I am going for the Nolly one!
If only there was this much effort put into making a good MIDI guitar plugin... I can play the bass well enough in tune, but sometimes I can't play the guitar parts I need.
Native Instruments
Me, a bassist: I still love you, Ola :’)
Human feel will never go obsolete😇
Does anyone know how this compares to the Nolly Bass Library by GGD?
This is all I want to know as well
i think Nolly wants his bass library to sound like him specifically, whereas Djinnbass is probably more onto other pro bassists playing his bass, there could already be comparisons here but idk.
I'd go with this one. And I'm saying that as someone who has a few GGD products and enjoy them quite a bit. Submission Audio has been doing bass plugins for a while now, and they've all been very high quality. There's always a ton of articulations, velocities, and round robins to make it sound a lot more realistic. Plus they're great at capturing tones. I'm sure Nolly Bass Library is fine, but it's GGD's first attempt at one, and while I've heard a couple demos that sound good, I've heard quite a few more that sound quite unrealistic (but obviously that has a lot to do with the midi programming skill of the person too.)
UGH, this gives me some sads. It does sound super good though.
B as in the Brown note
There is no difference in tone quality between NG2 and NG3, I don't know where you find that information. The only difference is that NG2 has 2 pickups and NG3 has 3 pickups.
What is that song?
As a bass I can confirm this slaps
that shit sounds like CYBERNETICASS!
Ai coming for bassists now
Sometimes I feel like my playing sucks because people who can't even play an instrument make more professional sounding music than me. My only plugin is when I plug my real guitar into my real amp. Time to rethink sharing my crappy music.
man we just really hate bass players now
Another technology to create more sausage factory metal
💯 F this kind of technology. Buy a $200 dollar bass and play the damn thing yourself.
Lol.
FR tho, it's a run tool but this shit sucks for creating good music with real emotion.
Sausage factory metal. Ha! I never heard that term before, but it’s accurate.
Some are suggesting that you buy your own bass, but I’ll take it one step further:
Don’t be a dick, learn how to use your social skills and find someone that loves and understands bass, and collaborate with them.
Instead of you know, just playing your guitar riff one octave below, and closing yourself off to the rest of the world.
@@strengthedgefitness8301 I got mine for $70 used, upgraded the pickups and bridge for another $50. Now it sounds just as good as any passive PJ I've ever played in a music store.
RIP Bass Players.
OOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFF
If you're short of a bass player but have a few tracks you need done, there are octave and bass-clone pedals you can use to make your guitar sound like a bass.
Didn't Southpark talk about this
Ah yes another way to have the dingwall sound everyone have, I have to admit I'm starting to hate that sound
I never liked it so I'm good. And the sounds I get from by darkglass vintage pedal are definitely not the stereotypical darkglass sound either.
@@elpeluca7780 Yep that vintage one is the one that always had my interest but honestly they are too expensive nowadays...
This plugins sound great but idk, playing bass is fun. really hard for me but fun :)
Lack of variation in sample libraries is kinda annoying for me. I always prefer my sh*tty inconsistent playing. xD
string noises. missed notes. having a tired wrist, giving up and keeping a sloppy take. "humanizing" midi instruments takes so much effort and is really time consuming.
for some of the SWOLAs I did A/B test between my playing and grovebass. I always liked mine more. sounds worse and not as pristine but feels better. 🤔
I also like using 4 string bass with 7 string guitar. Not having the same low notes kinda forces you to move the bass line around instead of following the roots.
Sounds great but truthfully for those who own djinn 1 the “upgrade” deal is total bullshit
Testing what??? 😳😳😳😳😳😳
Bass is one of the only instruments that sound ok as a vst
That's why I left the band
Cool, where can i pirate it ???
Only real bass, only hardcore
Don't kill bassist anymore 😭
I hate the concept and want the technology at the same time. Does anybody else feel this way?
Definitely
AM I A JOKE TO YOU??
Yes
So nothing new comparing to other bass libraries?
Early but tasty
DAT (B)ASS
Who needs any real instrument? Nothing surprises me in 2024.
Bass guitar player is also a HUMAN, some of them can interact with band and even a write a lyrics, right?
Dont show this to my band lol
Musicians creating their own fucking demise. 👍
7th
one day AI will replace all musicians... just saying.
Im just gonna say it whats the point of being in a band if you have ai members at your helm...all this crap n technology out here is fine n dandy and All but this is just going to create a antisocial introverted recluse of a person...i thought the point of being in a band was to be a fan of the music and to be social with others that are like minded...what happened to a guitar a cable and a amp!!????? Fuck all this technology
That's easy to say lmao try finding a guitarist and a drummer who play death metal in a small town in the middle of nowhere
@@elpeluca7780 moving is an option
I guess you don't need a bass player. But you are denying yourself the pure wtf moment when you start playing with a player who learned stuff from bassists like Less Claypool and Larry Graham.
delet this ! 🤣
Programming drums is bad enough - SO LETS DO IT WITH BASS
No thanks
that sounds terrible. Like someone running a casio keyboard from the 80s through a darkglass pedal. 🤣
Hmmm interesting idea
I am afraid I have to agree on that…
As a bass player this is an automatic downvote.
not digging it, sounds extremely fake...
This is horrible
uninspired
Just buy a used Squier P bass or something, this sounds like ass
This sounds horrible. Who the heck would even consider buying it???
As my sales records currently reflect after half a day: a metric ton of people.
This is what modern bass sounds like in the current metal mixing trend. Metal is a bitch to mix and get sounding “good” or what the current popular perception of good is, so you have to pull a bunch of tricks for that to work. If you think this is bad you should listen to mixed guitars on their own. Totally screwed with my head when I learned how to actually mix metal.
Stopped watching after “Kontakt player”
The dingwall abz series just sound so much better. Much more musical sounding and versatile, and the old canadian ones are much better bang for your buck than these chinese mass produced new ones.
