Using your darning needle to point out where to enter the hook garnered you a new subscriber. Clear instructions plus pointing out tricky, fiddly spots, and how to deal with them, makes for a helpful, valuable tutorial. I also like how you weaved in the different yarn ends when showing where/how to change yarn color (or adding a new skein.
Christa, I swear you are the or one of the very best stitch teachers ever. The general filming is at a good distance from the camera not so far we cant see the stitches throughout the video. Your close ups and using the needle (in contrasting color) to point out each individual stitch so the student gets used to what each stitch looks like is wonderful. Your videos make me feel like I can do it and like/enjoy it, not "well I might be able to do this." Your detail in showing the turns is excellent to me as it is the turning that always seems to throw me off. Thanks again for the great tutorial. I will be making something with this stitch.
Awe! Thank you so much, Maria B.! Turning, seeing the first stitch, and counting the stitch at a join - SUCH trouble for me when I started! I was literally guessing - every time! And even my ends - I was like - "What do mean, "work them in?" SO glad you are enjoying the tutorials. BIG hugs! xx

Very nice. HINT: I put safety pin type stitch markers on every fifth chain before I start the first row. It takes a little longer, but saves the headaches of finding out i skipped stitches.
I, also, struggle with counting long lengths of beginning chains for filet work/ Afghan etc...I used the safety pin trick for quite a while until I discovered how much easier. It is (for me personally) to use dark cheap Bobby pins instead.I like it better since they can be slid up to the rounded end to stay put and most of all the are easily moved along as you keep u with the count of 10, 20 or whatever chain count group suits you.It sure beats having to stop and open, count, place in spot and re- close the safety pins over & over...Its faster to me when I just want to get on with the pattern and past the boring preliminaries...Good Luck! (I've also used the bendy type hairclips as well in the past.

THANK YOU CHRISTA.......YOU ARE AN EXPERT TEACHER AND I UNDERSTOOD FIRST TIME WITHOUT HAVING TO PAUSE AND FORWARD YOUR VIDEO ..EXCELLENT RATING, AND I WILL BE MAKING SOMETHING VERY BEAUTIFUL SOON WITH BEAUTIFUL COLORS
Excellent tutorial and the visual of you using your darning needle to point out the counting of the chains and where the next stitch is on your foundation chain is so helpful. Thanks for a great tutorial 🪡🧶
You are an amazing teacher! I love the fact that you used the needle to REALLY show how to count the stitches. I am making a blanket with this pattern now: just finished row one and am on to row two. It's just like you showed and really easy while looking great! TY!
Amen! It's so helpful to see EXACTLY which stitches are being indicated. The contrasting color of the needle is helpful as well, and that you're stitching slow enough for me to follow. I have been knitting scarves for the Red Scarf Project & recently decided to try my hand at crochet, which I had done many years ago. I remember now how much I enjoyed crochet. Looking forward to learning new stitches from you & will be starting a new scarf today with this stitch.
I really like the way you teach. You do not keep repeating every step over and over and over as some do. You go at a good pace and explain as you go. Thank you
Love this afghan idea~!~! I added a border and worked all my ends in along with the border. That way I didn’t have to weave hardly any ends in~!~! Works out 99% of the time~! Thank you for a great tutorial~!
THANK YOU! This tutorial is so easy to follow! I have made a scarf, a couple of squares for my bff blanket in making with my bff, a blanket for my daughter and planning on using it for more projects! It turns out beautiful no matter the size of yarn you use!
I have been wanting to make this for a long time and I think I will make a shawl with it for my daughter-in-law for Christmas. She likes orange and I have red heart super saver ombre in I think it's called coral. That will be on my hook next.😁💖
Thank you. I really enjoyed trying this stitch. I wanted to do it in the round, so alternated each row of 4dc, 3ch, 1dc with rows of 1dc, 3ch, 4dc. It works!

Yay! A new stitch for me! 👍 Thanks Christa! 😊 I was certain that this stitch was one I often use to crochet wash cloths and baby blankets called "crazy stitch" so I didn't bother watching this till now. However it's a little bit different to "crazy stitch" so I'm glad I watched. I think I'll do chain 2 instead of chain 3 to make the holes a bit smaller. I'll have to check out your baby blanket tutorial with this stitch to see what you do with the top row to get a neat border. Christa, thanks for all you do to help us grow in crochet! ❤💙💚💜💛

Stitch markers save time of ripping out my mistakes! lol They're as important as the hook and yarn in my crochet toolbox.
After making a mistake my first row on the chain I 🐸‘Ed it and did the same thing, used plastic stitch markers on every 5th chain space 🥰

I have been crocheting now for 52 years. I like the way that you double check your counting and stitches.. It is so important. It is like a carpenter learns to measure twice and cut once.. Very nice.
This is an awesome stitch 😊. I absolutely love it. The beginning looks like a pain but once you get passed that it looks easy peasy. Even this beginner might be able to conquer it 🤣. Tyfs God bless you
Oh I am so glad you liked it, @debbiemcclure2874! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
