Thank you so much for your reviews, so on point! What board would you recommend to replace the BB3 (5'9 19'5/8 2'3/8 29L) as JS now has discontinued the model? i watched the Xero review, JS claim it is the closest to the BB3 but i doubt that as the outline has changed and is more like a monsta, which tells me that the popular wide point upfront that made the BB3 so popular is no longer there.
Hi mate There has been an update on the Xero since I did the review. They have made it closer to the BB3. Have a look at the easy rider DIMs too because that’s probably even closer to the old BB3.
another cool review wooly. mate i cant afford the epoxy. have you had the chance to surf the pu and if so how did you like it compared to the pu monstabox mate? i currently ride a monstabox and am wondering if i should get another or possibly try the blackbox instead.
Hi mate The Blakbox is now extinct. The closest in the JS range is now the Xero or Xero Easy Rider. The Monsta Box has now been replaced with the Xero Gravity, which I havent ridden as yet.
Yeah I don't ride large fins all that often. I will ride large fins in really grovellers especially if they have a wide tail. As my boards get longer and more drawn out my fins size usually drops but I will run stiffer fins.
@@matr4724 I don't think it does......larger fins create more drag and slow you down. I try and use the smallest fins I can without compromising the 'hold'.
@@dionchang6390 I would think a Monsta Box would be a better option if you want to surf Rotto and DS too. The boys at Star can send you one freight free too! 95354500 🤙
Sorry I haven't tried that fin combo with the BB3. I have heard a couple of my mates using MR twins on the Psycho Nitro with great results but Im not sure about the BB3. Saying that, I cant see what they wouldn't work. Give them a go!
Hi mate This one came out so long ago it’s long gone from my quiver. They don’t make this one any more. The replacement of this is the Xero and it’s a better version of this board. Check that review out 🤙
@@WoolyTV I did already.. I just picked up a black box 3 squash second hand.. Wondering if it made it into your quiver at the time.. I'll get a xero second hand in a year's time 😂 balling on a budget 😂 rode it the other night.. Was the missing link in my now four board quiver.. Will play with the 2+1s to see if I can get more speed off it.. The rocker was hard to find but I figure it's medium continuous entry and exit.. @@MrB1019 hi mate. The BB3 didn’t end up in my quiver as I just don’t ride step downs all that much (other than the ones I review). I used to just ride the Monsta Box all the time 🤙
@woolytv how big waves do you think the black box can handle ? I am coming off the physco nitro and thought the black box could cover waves up to over head. Any thoughts please?
Yeah mate, you will defiantly be able to surf bigger waves than you can on the Psycho Nitro. If you check out the second surf I had on the board there was a few waves around head high and it handles fine!
im exactly your specs 88kg give or take a kg 6,0. and similar skill level keep the reviews coming :) have u tried many channel island boards ? im tossing up between the OG flyer and monsta box for my standard 2-3ft weakish waves.
Hi mate, haven't surfed a CI yet! Hopefully I can work on some of them soon. I do have a couple of Pyzels turning up this week and one is the Pyzalien 2 which is similar DIMs to the Monsta Box (and I have the new Monsta Box 2020 coming soon too).
Hi mate, thats from a couple of years back so Im not sure we will have any left?? We have plenty of other ones in stock, what size are you after? Best hit up the shop 08 95354500 or shop@starsurf.com.au
Hi mate I prefer this one in the smaller surf and Monsta Box or Monsta if its over 4' and punchy. I find the BB3 too wide in the nose and flat for punchy surf.
Ha ha, yep Im 87kg on a good day too.....can blow out to 90kg if I'm not careful. Yeah I have a few boards kicking around, what are you after? Also where are you based?
Your unbiased reviews are really appreciated mate. Great work! Super slick channel. Can't stop watching your vids.
Cheers mate, I aim to be as open and honest as possible. If I don't like it, I will say why for sure :)

JS looks great but don’t they pressure dent easily?
All the ones Ive had have held up very well!
Wooly you surf really well on Jason Stevenson boards in general.
Thanks, I find that most JS models are very easy to ride and suit me.
Good reviews mate, you got yourself a new sub. Keep up the good work!

surfed it very nicely 👍 interesting as a bigger bloke you choose to ride the medium fin

Hi love the reviews. Just wondering could this board be a one board quiver?
Really depends on where you surf? I won’t handle overhead barrelling waves. If you surf flat waves more often than not, then yes 🤙
@@WoolyTV mainly yanchep to Mandurah. Sometimes rotto and down sth. Predominately 3-5ft at the most.

this board is 5 star. Super fun with heaps a drive for those flat sections.

For most of that one I would have used the Medium Performer in the PCC - carbon
bb3 or monsta box which one is easier to surf in the 2 - 4 foot beach break you reckon ? cool review !
Probably the BB3, especially if its more of rolling slower beach break. If its a real punchy beach break then I would go the MB.
