    Great job Dr. Bernard and Chuck. All these foods plus plenty of sunlight. I drink few cups of green tea everyday. I am from the Himalayas- a poor landlocked country in the South East Asia .We produce all kinds of tea. My favorite is green tea. I drink it everyday. ❤

    I am so horrified to learn about the sadistic experiments that people come up with to subject these poor mice to. These people have no soul. Really disgusting🤬

      not only that - but useless. Not just useless - but dangerous. If they did that to humans - it would be considered a horror movie. Do it to animals - it's readily accepted as top scientific work! It needs to change.

      @@extropiantranshuman totally agree. The people working in these labs have to be psychopaths. How could anyone do this to a living being and have a conscience? This torments my brain😞

    Most Interesting & helpful ! As plant based foods help in building a healthy mind & body ! But while tomatoes are good for maintaining a healthy body,tomato ketchups,having spices & other unhealthy ingredients may not be
    so ! Thanks ❤️

    If meds are plant derived then why not Whole Foods? No side effects!

    Won’t the Omega 3 fats you mentioned in broccoli and leafy greens be Destroyed by cooking? If so- isn’t it better to eat the dark leafy greens Raw in salads or smoothies to get in tact ALA?

    • @extropiantranshuman
      @extropiantranshuman 18 годин тому +5

      from what I know - omega 3's aren't destroyed by cooking. Otherwise - how would people still get omega 3's from fish? You're thinking vitamin c!

    so many tangents that could've been brought up that has nothing to do with eating the food that can lead to depression. A lot of experiences with harvesting and procesing animal products can be equally contributing to depression as plants are to making you happy. When someone thinks of the highlight of happiness - it's in a meadow smelling roses (to collect petals for tea) and brushing against the hay fields (maybe to collect oats). That's really fun! Picking blueberries off the bushes too. There's even been great joy in the desert - resurrecting lost crops - like the judean date! Ok maybe nut gathering isn't that fun - like grabbing and cracking open coconuts, but picking up one on the ground (provided you don't get hit on the head) and sticking a straw in it as one relaxes on the beach sipping it isn't too shabby! Tell me - who'd rather go to an orchard to pick apples and cherries or a factory farm to chop up carcasses? I know most people's pick! I know you all do too! Pruning herbs - the aromas, sunlight, tastes - it's idyllic countryside visualizing. Foraging for chamomila - used to bring me joy as a kid. Still does.
    But overfishing, slaughtering, raising backyard chickens - these are just not that happy of means to spend one's time. If anyone thinks it is - probably has spent too much time on these activities to see better. Time to open eyes, lead the way! I know I did.

      There's something that I hate in some Indian dishes. It tastes like a cleaning product. It's really strong. I wonder if it's saffron that I don't like.

    Tea has no effect on mood? We having a saying in our house that "tea is life," because of not only the health benefits, but it always makes us feel so much better, no matter the scenario. I never drink a cup of warm green tea and emotionally feel worse. It always picks me up and makes me feel better. I don't want to be critical. I love all the info. That one just made me raise an eyebrow quite high, from personal experience 🤨😆

    next saffron experiment involves people drinking saffron tea! Honestly - people might be depressed by saffron uniquely - because it's one of the most expensive foods on the planet. Might help your brain, but hurt your wallet!

    Hypoglycaemia, or low blood sugar, is a widespread and easily undiagnosed condition, the symptoms of which include chronic fatigue and tiredness, and a host of mood problems such as anxiety, depression, nervousness, instability, stress, irritability, and the associated lack of self confidence that accompanies these states of mind. The underlying cause of hypoglycaemia is a diet high in animal fats - these harden the pancreas and inhibit the smooth release of glucagon, the hormone that raises blood sugar. Thus sweet food is craved to raise the blood sugar levels - but if the cause is not addressed the result is a swinging back and forth, physiologically and psychologically. A well balanced plant based diet of whole grains, vegetables, legumes, with moderate intake of fruit, nuts, and seeds, etc., will restore the pancreas to its proper function - and the mood to a regulated ebb and flow. Peace is the outcome...

    can the blueberry be the little blue antidepressant pill too? Honestly - it's strange to think a food with a color so associated with depression - blue - can actually be the opposite! I think Dr. Barnard is right about the strawberries - being a brighter color, but the top of my list for anti-depressing foods are the yellow orange ones - it's a happy sunny color - like goldenberries, seabuckthorn, yellow pluots, mangoes, pineapple, bell pepper, carrots, butternut squash, and more. If these aren't pure sunshine and brightness - what is? You need foods that smile back at you to make you happy when you eat them!! These are going to be my go-to's when I eat happy foods - and yes - some are berries - they can match up. Cloudberries are yellow orange and they're a berry!!!!

    honestly - the whole idea of fishing wasn't even brought up for fish and depression. Nothing's more depressing than see one's own dwindling food source from overfishing go away - that you have to be at a pier the whole day and still not catch anything - except maybe what a hatchery artificially added in - as a fishing game. It makes you lose your sanity, intellect (you have to stare at a non-moving pole all day to see if it wiggles), etc. If that's not depressing - what is? Versus going fishing for fruit on a tree - you see it already there and grab it with the fruit catching pole and eat it - if it didn't fall on the floor already. It might be an hour or 2 with a bagload of fruit by the hour. Then the rest of the day's eating what you caught instead of still being hungry! If fishing teaches you anything - it's how to be entertained by the littlest of things by holding out your hunger as long as possible - as the name of the fishing game is seeing how much pole wiggling entertainment is worth nothing in the stomach!
