I actuall much prefer the blue crown. It's what set Mizuno apart in the looks department. I have the JPX 900 3 wood and plan on upgrading my driver to the ST180 this season. Mizuno blue is the way to go.
I bought the St190G and absolutely LOVE it! I got a fitting and all the others seemed to lack something. I went into fitting wanting the G410 or M5. Have always had Taylormade woods in the past but for some reason this driver had the best numbers and feel. Felt like i could swing as hard as i could and hit it out the middle of the face and in the fairway.
I'm gaming the st190 tensi white and knocked my ts3 smoke out of the bag. Both custom fit. Definitely get custom fit for everything! Great job James loving your channel.
Wilson Cortex.... hands down!! As a "fan boy" and supporter, I purchased the Cortex (9 degree Fuji blue tour spec 6s) and was absolutely surprised by it. I currently game a M5 (9 degree project x evenflow black 6.5) which I do love, but find that the cortex can easily go yard for yard with it. Dare I say the Cortex actually is a little gamer friendly.... currently longest drive with the Cortex is 310 yards on the course and on the fairway lol.
@@richardsdiaz1 oh... I haven't had a chance to watch. Which I will of course, James has been putting together great videos. I jumped the gun and vomited my opinion prematurely :D regardless of that criteria, I'm sticking to my pick.
James I know this is a new year, but last years Mizuno 180 driver had rave reviews from all of the UA-cam golf guys and it also was greatly underrated on all tours. So it is no surprise that this years Mizuno 190 driver has been over looked. That being said I've been playing Cobra drivers for the last 7 years or so, the Bio Cell, Fly Z and now f9, all of which are well loved by me, in fact the Fly Z keeps sneaking into the bag, I still love it's fairway finding ability. Good video post, thanks.
All joking aside. The best driver I've hit for me is my friends Mizuno. It beat the Callaway and the Taylormade both in distance and straightness. Now it could be that the shaft in it suits me better.
Mated an ST190 with a Diamana BF 70TX and DAYUM! So long and consistent on every drive. Never saw myself with anything but a Titleist driver but the new Mizuno has won me over.
I currently use the ST180, but have tried the ST190 on the range and totally agree, it’s a great driver. I’m off 16, not the biggest hitter but that doesn’t bother me, it’s more the consistency I’m after. I’m considering it....
Hi James! I have seen on other UA-cam channels that the Wilson Staff D7 Driver was the most underrated driver. I wonder if you could do a review on that one. Thanks and love your videos! Going to see another video "Let's do it and let's do it now" ....
Just picked up one of these a few weeks ago. Not sure why but for some reason they aren’t holding their value like some of the other drivers out there. Which is actually what lead me choosing the st190 only had around $200 to spend. Bought a certified preowned one from a popular site for $255 with a 20% discount code. When I received it the head was still wrapped up almost positive it had never been hit before. So couldn’t be happier with the deal I got and also thing hits like a dream.
I also like the matte finish on the M5, I find the shiny carbon crown can reflect into you eyes if the sun hits it at the right angle. Great driver though
Mizuno ST190 - recent Mizuno drivers always under-rated. I have the ST180 (plus 3 wood, CLK 4 hybrid and JPX 900 Hot Metals), and it’s a great driver. What’s even more odd is that every reviewer says how great they are, consistent etc etc then play a TaylorMade or something 🤔
Just bought one of these. Shortlisted it and the Cobra for testing and the numbers were the same so it was down to looks and this won hands down over the cobra. At £350 it’s a no brainer against all the others at £450+. The 3 wood is pretty special too
I thought you were going to say Bombtec or whatever the brand is. Then when you mentioned last year I said I know he's not taking about Mizuno there're not inexpensive. Wow I thought they were in that 500 range. Great 👍🏽 info
I was about to guess Cobra and then thought.....not underrated and while not expensive it was a bit more $$ than $350. Then I was thinking Wilson....and realized it hasn't won anything! I hadn't made my final guess yet when I realized I forgot to pause your video and you revealed the Mizuno! Oh well! I'll try to guess next time. lol It is a very handsome club...only one that competes for looks with Titleist this year. I like clean classic lines! Great video!
Late last year I bought the ST180HL new with a stiff kurokage shaft for $179. I LOVE the blue finish amd about 50% of my purchase was due to the looks. So many clubs have the black carbon crown, I prefer to be different.
The most underrated driver well I'd go for Wilson D7 or Cleveland HB Launcher, great prices too. You must test clubs from Wilson and Cleveland. The Wilson blades are awesome.
The main reason I take no notice of your club reviews is because my face to path relationship isn't that good! Great numbers there, you'd hit fairways with any driver swinging like that!
Wilson D7 is a very underrated driver James. Tried it at a demo day and if I hadn't have bought a Cobra F8+ a few weeks before I would have bought it there and then. Saw a few guys hit further than an M5 but they still bought the M5. A real shame as Wilson make some great clubs, but it doesn't look as cool as an M5 headcover in the bag.
I game it a great club, put down my Ping 400 max as the ST190 is longer and more consistent. It came with a shaft which would have cost over $250 as standard, great value great club
I will never play an iron without the Mizuno bird on it. The quality of those is off the charts and is by FAR the best forged iron on the market(I don't play cast clubs so I cant comment on those). If they can get their woods and driver quality up to 85% of the quality input into their irons they will be the best set to have in your bag overall. James have you tested out the wedges at all?
If McIlroy, tiger,DJ and other top name players were gaming Mizuno drivers then a lot moof us would do the same, most of the time players want to game the same clubs as their favourite players. Awesome interesting video 👏👏
James the titleist TS2..super driver.. James I have one thing to ask..and I hope you know..maybe even do a show on it..With all these new phones ..what is the best app for golf GPS.. that will do everything that a laser does or the Garmin watch does..please help
Hi there I'm a 65 yr old man who enjoys his golf but I watch a lot of you guys on here and to be honest you all talk about how cheap these deals are on the expensive drivers the one in this vlog for instance it's far from cheap as you say we are really talking a weeks wages to most people how about for a change and test some really cheap drivers say for less than a 100 quid Iv just bought one for 80 brand new and I hit it as far as a 400 quid one just a thought !! Kind regards.
Spud Rides N Golfs I went out and bought a $30 Taylor Made driver 580 I think. I hit it better than any modern driver. I’m 50 and have a 7 handicap. I refuse to pay today’s prices although I do have some pretty pricy irons
I'm in the market of upgrading my bag; still looking for irons, something around 13 degrees (Mini driver or 3-wood) and a driver. Short list for irons are the Ft Worth whites (I'm holding out hope they bring a new model out this year), MP-18 and Titleist MB's. I'm not sure if I care about having last years model driver or something from this year, I haven't really seen anything technologically giving me reason to spend an extra $100 just to say it's a year newer. I have to say I really like your channel mate, been following it since last fall (I changed my YT name from The Maggs) and I appreciate your professional view. I have a question regarding irons, perhaps rhetorical, because I don't want to put you on the spot: When did the 'powers that be' (Brands, USGA/R&R, Marketers, etc) decide we should have the clubs decide our skill? Why are we playing clubs to help our game instead of improving our game to play 'better' clubs? Blades, Game Improvement, Players Distance, Power Specs to adjust the aforementioned versions, etc! I can understand wanting to create a club for all people, increasing the chance of a sale and getting more people on the links, but it seems (and it may just be my mental acuity focusing on this factor) we have chosen to direct the conversation towards not improving our skills but using technology to play better for us. I started playing in the late 1980's as a teen. Driver heads were just starting to become mammoth but it was the exception, not the rule. Now, I can't find a traditional driver with a head below 400CC unless it's a 'special' model. I don't know if there's a single answer, as I'm feeling this is more philosophical, but how can I know if I'm playing the best clubs for my game (and grow into without having to purchase again in 3 years) if there is a set that can help me inch into the next level of quality game? Thanks as always James, I appreciate you brother! And if anyone is wondering, because of the choice of clubs I'm considering, I just got back into golf last year and I am establishing a handicap as we speak (well, I type and you read!) and it looks like it's going to be in the low 30's.
Great point 👍 I feel like I always played better with blades because it suited my eye and my swing. I just felt like I could be a better player. Honestly people should ignore how an iron is classified and play what fits now or what they are working towards to give them the optimum. Countless ways to play the game.
Underrated IMO because Mizuno is not thought of as a distance brand which is what everyone is after with the big stick. I consistently hit Mizuno Irons 5-8 yards shorter then other brands with comparable lofts but the feel is incredible. With that thought process in the back of my mind Mizuno wouldn't be on the forefront of my mind when looking for a driver.
Good video. You mentioned forgiveness. What driver is the most forgiving? I enjoy my Mizuno irons, does the driver have the same quality feel and forgives off center hits?
Most underrated driver of 2019 is probably one of last year's models, pick them up around the £200 mark and technology really has not moved on that much.
If you get maybe 5 yards more from M5, but your consistently in the fairway and in play with the mizuno??..it’s a no brainier get the mizuno in the bag!!..I’ve just gone from M4 to Ping G410 and the difference is night and day, first round out with the G410 was comfortably my lowest round this season,why???..because I was in the fairway 90% of the time and not chipping out sideways.
Most underrated, best priced driver of 2019 without a doubt is the Wilson D7. Figures were up there with all the usual suspects and the price a good £100 less than the F9.
Definitely looks better in the black finish. Agreed, their irons are lovely. However, I wouldn't really look at their woods simply because of the crap they've produced previously 😕 More fool me by the look of it 😂
I actuall much prefer the blue crown. It's what set Mizuno apart in the looks department. I have the JPX 900 3 wood and plan on upgrading my driver to the ST180 this season. Mizuno blue is the way to go.

I was thinking Cortex as well, but then I realized no one has Won with it and that was one of the criteria.
@@richardsdiaz1 oh... I haven't had a chance to watch. Which I will of course, James has been putting together great videos. I jumped the gun and vomited my opinion prematurely :D regardless of that criteria, I'm sticking to my pick.
I just bought the ST190 and traded in my G400 max.
20+ yds distance and tighter grouping immediately. That's a big difference for a 20 handicap.
James I know this is a new year, but last years Mizuno 180 driver had rave reviews from all of the UA-cam golf guys and it also was greatly underrated on all tours. St190- I tested it with Andy- Average Golfer. I then traded in my TM M4 a day later. Never looked back. Love it!
I had the same issue with the black face and top crown when I tested the mizuno, funny how our brain works! I got the Cobra in the bag.
Most underestimated driver. Dustin Hoffman as Rainman. Dad says I'm an excellent driver😂👍
All joking aside. The best driver I've hit for me is my friends Mizuno. It beat the Callaway and the Taylormade both in distance and straightness. Now it could be that the shaft in it suits me better.
The Mizuno was a shock, but makes sense! Love my Cobra F9, it displaced my M4 when i was looking at updating
Mated an ST190 with a Diamana BF 70TX and DAYUM! So long and consistent on every drive. Never saw myself with anything but a Titleist driver but the new Mizuno has won me over.
Bought a G400 MAX in November without doubt hitting more fairways, not any longer but definitely more consistent
Nice to see this part of the equipment-hype aswell...
Great video James!
Cheers mate
Great review. Loved their hybrids and fairway woods. Never had luck with their drivers. A fitting may be in order
I currently use the ST180, but have tried the ST190 on the range and totally agree, it’s a great driver. I’m off 16, not the biggest hitter but that doesn’t bother me, it’s more the consistency I’m after. I’m considering it....

Impartial and unbiased review !
Might be high on my Birthday wishlist 😁
Cheers James!
Not paid then?
Reviews never paid Howard
Rocking the avalanche F9 Big Dogg and absolutely no regrets. Give it a try before you decide on a 2019 driver. 🤙
I was about to guess Cobra and then thought.....not underrated and while not expensive it was a bit more $$ than $350. Then I was thinking Wilson....and realized it hasn't won anything!

If I wasn't gaming a Callaway I would say this one would suit my eye the best from address since the two look very similar.

The Wilson blades are awesome.
Part of the problem is re-sale value, it might be cheaper new, but it will fall off a cliff secondhand as demand just isn't there...at the moment.
Mizuno range
St 190
St 190 g
I’ve just been fitted for the g picking up on Saturday can’t wait 😊
Just picked up my ST190 yesterday. Can't wait to hit the range.
Between the last couple of drivers and the CLK hybrids, Mizuno has seriously upped the non-iron game. The CLK is just incredible.
The main reason I take no notice of your club reviews is because my face to path relationship isn't that good! Great numbers there, you'd hit fairways with any driver swinging like that!
Must have been a good day! Lol
Wilson D7 is a very underrated driver James. Tried it at a demo day and if I hadn't have bought a Cobra F8+ a few weeks before I would have bought it there and then. 44K Subscribers, just noticed, wow, well done. Keep up the good "work".
Thanks John :)
The Brand New 2017 TaylorMade M1 that I picked up on Amazon for $224.00 :)
I game it a great club, put down my Ping 400 max as the ST190 is longer and more consistent. It came with a shaft which would have cost over $250 as standard, great value great club

Cheers mate :)
Struggles to compete when it comes to the TS2/3 or the m5/6 in my personal opinion
James you should have that in your bag.
If McIlroy, tiger,DJ and other top name players were gaming Mizuno drivers then a lot moof us would do the same, most of the time players want to game the same clubs as their favourite players. Awesome interesting video 👏👏
Have to also take into consideration how much advertising Taylormade does vs Mizuno. I hardly ever see a Mizuno commercial.
i was thinking srixon but i am a mizuno fanboy so i'm cool with your choice.
Tour edge exotic exs is the most underrated hybrids are amazing too
James the titleist TS2..super driver..
James I have one thing to ask..and I hope you know..maybe even do a show on it..With all these new phones ..what is the best app for golf GPS.. that will do everything that a laser does or the Garmin watch does..please help
Srixon 785 - great price and great performance- I bought it having tried loads of others.
Mungo 1967 Totally agree. Purchased one late last year. Superb club.
Mizuno just makes quality golf equipment
Hi there

Mizuno ST-190, since the Cobra F9 is played by Ricky.

Mizuno ST190 easy!!! I just got one. Didn't even think about it when getting fitted
Just for a starting point. What be a better option for a high handicapper? The ST 190 G or the G 410? Thanks James
Try the Srixon Driver for 2018. Brilliant club and cheap
Mizuno st190 or f9 both are sweet and hit it a mile generate awesome ball speed
Im guessing the new Wilson will be it. Then perhaps the Mizuno.
I liked last years blue aswell!
Because I’m gaming the Cleveland Launcher. I am on the jpx919 HM
Underrated IMO because Mizuno is not thought of as a distance brand which is what everyone is after with the big stick. Happy to, live on course
Good video. You mentioned forgiveness. What driver is the most forgiving? I enjoy my Mizuno irons, does the driver have the same quality feel and forgives off center hits?
Yeah Mizuno pretty forgiving, M6 is the one for me though in that regard
It's a beast great vid james
Thanks Josh
Mizuno just don’t make bad clubs in my experience not keen on the hybrids though but that’s my swing rather than the club.
Great video James! Is that a good driver for high handicappers?
I would think so mate. Mark enjoyed it apart from the looks
I have the F9 Speedback! How did you compare this against the F9 ? How did the #’s compare ? Feel ?
Most underrated driver of 2019 is probably one of last year's models, pick them up around the £200 mark and technology really has not moved on that much.
Got it with the same shat your sporting !
Also got the 3 wood
I bought the 3w too which is also mega!
How about the Krank X Extreme driver and the Bridgestone JGR driver?
Srixon z 585 or 785 driver
If you get maybe 5 yards more from M5, but your consistently in the fairway and in play with the mizuno??..it’s a no brainier get the mizuno in the bag!!..I’ve just gone from M4 to Ping G410 and the difference is night and day, first round out with the G410 was comfortably my lowest round this season,why???..because I was in the fairway 90% of the time and not chipping out sideways.
Absolutely James!😉
Most underrated, best priced driver of 2019 without a doubt is the Wilson D7. Figures were up there with all the usual suspects and the price a good £100 less than the F9.
You've got the mizuno jpx 919 tour irons and have played the titliest mb/cb which would you say were best irons you'd tested
Hmmm... between the Mizuno I’m using and Callaway Apex Pro. Couldn’t split them!
Srixon Z785 wondered why u haven't tested it..
Srixon won’t send me one mate. Don’t known why
I will stick with Wilson Triton. Love my Driver
I would like to see a head to head against the m5 titanium 3 wood, 15 deg against the aeroburner tp 3 wood 15 deg. which one is the longest?
Ooooo I don’t know how I’d get an aero burner
would of thought wilson d7
Well said james totally agree,👍looks Stunning to🚀
The Wilson driver?
Why don’t you create some golf merchandise saying ”lets do it an let’s do it now”
I think it would look pretty cool
Funny you should say... too be continued lol
I pick the Mizuno Drivers
I'll bet it's the ST190. Simply because Mizuno do not have reps with armfulls of clubs and money running round the driving range of tour events.
Definitely looks better in the black finish.
Agreed, their irons are lovely. However, I wouldn't really look at their woods simply because of the crap they've produced previously 😕
More fool me by the look of it 😂
James, what shaft do you have in the ST190? Thanks
For me the Mizuno ST190 isn’t underrated. It isn’t in the same class as the TM5/6 or the Callaway Epic or the Ping G410 therefore is where it is?
I think you should give it another try 😉
Cobra F9
Cobra F9.
Cobra f9
James... is that your selfie face on the front banner of this posting? My daughters selfies can’t rival your pursed lips 😂
Mizuno ST190G!
a second hand G400 :-)
Cobra f9 speedback
Srixon Z785?
very good guess! It's a solid driver!
I bet it's Mizuno!!!
That is a real good looking driver
Clearly the Cobra F9
Wrong again. Rats.
Damn it Kim! Lol
What would you say if I told you that you could get a driver with 90% the performance of a 2019 model for $50?
What would that be.
