In Chicago, the poor have to take Public Transportation and most weapons are banned for Law Abiding citizens. I noticed that they choose canes. Tractor Supply sells a 36” Weaver Livestock hardwood cane for $22. Add a 1” rubber butt to the bottom and you have something to help you walk, protect you and is allowed on buses, planes and all public buildings. Note: Walking Staffs and most other devices are banned in airports and government buildings. I have hiked, walked city streets and flown with this cane and it is outstanding. If you touch a person with the rubber butt and twist the cane 180 degrees, the butt will hold the shirt or coat 100% and you can “steer” the person where you want. Rotate the cane 180 degrees back and proceed to do what you need to do. Cold Steel makes a number of non-metallic ‘tools” as well.
Yo! That pick and the wooden jabber are sick. That shit you said at the end is pure gold I feel the same as you we are our own best line of defense no matter what they try and regulate. Keep putting these videos out brother you're gonna help alot of people with this stuff. 💯
Not non-metallic but a load bearing carabiner goes without notice. A rock and a tube sock carried separately. Also a dog collar and a combination lock, carried separately. 😊
Thanks for the video. 1. My first choice would be a very solid walking staff. A staff gives me range and power. In a non-metallic, that's the best I can hope to find. 2. My second choice is a wooden or polymer cane. These have less range, but they are more convenient to carry. They don't draw as much attention. They still have good power and better range than a knife does. 3. I've never tried this one, but my third choice is very old school. My third choice would be a long-necked glass bottle. I'd break the bottom along the edge of a table and have the jagged edges as a weapon.
You may wish to try option 3 before you depend on it. The bottles have a tendency to break where the neck starts. This will leave you with a very short weapon. In terms of selfdefense you elevated from moderate threat to severe threat. The amount force that can be used legally just went up.
@@maxlutz3674 I would never try to use a broken bottle as a weapon until my life was in grave danger. I'm not going to use this kind of weapon until the attacker has elevated the threat level to severe. At that point, the attacker has taken the force level to the top already.
@@Desperado3248 I don't have that training, but I've tried to follow some online training ideas to be proficient enough with both. I use them to strike a heavy bag.
Great video on non-metalic weapons and also on your philosophy on making sure you keep yourself and your loved ones safe in this crazy world. I'm 70 years old. I'm in pretty good shape except for arthritis. It's progressed to the point my fingers are twisted and knotted and it's hard for me to make a fist. I bought some plastic knucks like the first set you displayed and let me tell you, they are a great equalizer. They are incredibly comfortable and with very little practice I was able to wail away on a pine tree in the backyard with zero pain and discomfort. I pray I never need them but if I ever do....
It's made of metal but I use a thick carabiner like those used in gyms as a keychain. Can be use as a good improvised finger knuckle and I enter in any place with them cuz it's just my keychain
Yes, as o always tell my students, the mind is the weapon, those who know basic body mechanics and structure can form weapons wherever they are, a piece of wood sharpened on rough concrete, a piece of glass wrapped with a piece of cloth or cardboard or tape, a sock with gravel in it and on and on.
These are great tools... nearby me we have rocks your home made kubaton gave me an idea to turn a couple of those rocks into personal F around & Fd Ouch !!!
My non metallic everyday weapon is a innocent looking "kamagong stick", and I don't leave home with out it. I'm 81 years old who knows his limitations. Another good video.
My non metallic choice is duct tape. Cold Steel has several pieces in their Nightshade series (polypropolene material). I keep several in my luggage when driving (keep them in the shower). The Koga is one of my favorite. 2 somewhat sharp points on a thick Kubaton that never deteriorates. They have sharp pieces also. Good video. ❤
Trying to remove yourself from a bad situation. I was attacked by a group, they sent one guy up to fight me, I kept dodging his blows, backed up, and backed up til I could get away. He did hit me, and I could have taken him out, but he had six other guys in a semi circle around me, so I decided not to hit him back, and try to get away. No metal.
Being in the UK means we are not allowed to carry anything specifically for self defence. But we can use items that we carry as a means of self defence. I carry a flashlight, metal pen and a short kubotan type massage stick. None of them are carried for self defence
Brilliant and heartfelt. Even though I sense we might be on opposite sides of the political divide, I agree with everything you have to say. Solid, practicable intelligence.
When it comes to non-metalic it is my cane and the Koga SD1 and SD2 by Cold steel. Noone would part an old man with a limp from his walking stick. I tend to also carry a flashlight. The ring on the Cold Steel plastic knives used to be a butted ring. It can be opened by bending the ends along the axis of the ring. That allows for closing the ring later if you decide to use it again. With selfdefense other people get to decide whether I become a menace them. They leave me alone, I leave them alone. They don´t, I wont.
Idk, I always have a Benchmade pocket knife, & most days I also have an AM Leonard deluxe soil knife, a Felco pruner, and often also a Silky folding saw & a small Bahco lopper on my hips. Don't spend any time thinking about life sans-metal. Haha
Most if not all of these will get you arrested for weapons violation with criminal intent. The best nonmetallic self defense item is a cane which is considered a medical device.
Depends on your local laws. I live in a state where knives, knuckles, batons, tasers, blackjacks are totally unrestricted. Other than going to the airport, courthouse or school you can carry anything if you're not a felon.

Two of those look like shivs; a cop will take you straight to jail, and a jury won’t be impressed. I bought an ergo knuck after watching your review; it’s a piece of 3-D printed plastic that tucks away nicely, but I have some messed up fingers from training in jiu jitsu, and I still pack a Comtech Stinger. You should make a patu if you’re gonna use wood. The Māori Death Spatula is legit.
Long?.. that's my walking stick.... Medium? Anything resembling a small hammer…..or that miniature baseball bat that fisherman use on fish .short? Well that would have to be a knuckle duster or a little jabber.and,yeah,..pocket sand .😎
I dont ever find myself where a gun isnt an option. I love Arizona. Unless they have metal detectors (in which case i simply wont enter), I will carry. Even if theres a gun free zone sign. I dont abide by unconstitutional laws.
Whenever I go sightseeing in the woods, I don't like to bring a gun, just because I don't care to have a heavy item on my person when I'm trying to take it easy. Occasionally I would encounter someone with an AR and every single time the person had an injured expression on his face, because he was sort of hoping to have the woods all to himself. I'm pro second amendment, but I think the only reason anyone needs a gun for self defense is because they don't get along well with others. When you posture and flex and act injured at the mere existence of a person who expresses happiness for no discernable reason, you have the type of solipsism which will inevitably necessitate ownership of a deadly weapon.
Trust me when I say I understand everything you’re saying completely! There’s a certain energy that some guys carry when it comes to guns and awareness. I’m probably going to even do a video on it. That being said I do carry for situations that are outside of my control.

It's funny cause when you said "why NOT metal?" I'm thinking why metal?. But as you put so well at the end of your video. It's a state of mind. But. Don't take this the wrong way but it's almost like your words were pulled right from the biblical story of cane and able. People have been making or just picking up rocks sticks and sharp objects on the fly... to be used as weapons for hunting. Surviving hostile encounters. Long before we discovered metals we could use to assist. Look at the kind of damage a simple Shephard sling can do. Or an atlatle if I'm spelling that correct. 🧠's learn us cool stuff like this. And it's fairly cheap to buy, too, so one can stash several around one's domicile.
