You don't need a morning coffee, or any form of caffeine if you own a Viper. The moment you start driving, they wake you the F up and make you pay attention. I think I would recommend a Viper to anyone that likes to take risks and be on the edge. big NA torque is such a different experience to forced induction torque though. As a gen3 viper owner (with only 500hp) I can agree with this statement. The gen5 like the one in this video has an additional 140hp, and I know from experience that you can feel every single one of those ponies.
The viper never gets old because it is a classic hot rod formula. Take the biggest naturally aspirated engine you got and send it to the widest rear tires you got with the heaviest duty manual transmission. Side pipes should be standard on all performance cars for that stereo rumble exhaust sound. You cannot argue with the track times. This is the kind of car that takes your whole life to master.

The Viper may not be the right car for u. But my Viper drives absolutely perfect. It’s a race car with turn signals. Your right foot controls your destiny.
I drove a 2013 base model. Agreed, too much for me on even public country roads and I made sure to kept everything on due to old tires. Dream come true.
My lord….you’ve been playing too many video games. The Gen 5 is the best shifting 6 speed trans this 55 year old has driven…period. My Viper has an unbelievable amount of mechanical traction as long as the road is dry and above 65 degrees. I never burnt my legs on the “hot” exhaust. The Gen 5 is a true analog beast that does what you tell it to do.
I remember when I was in gr12 in 2014 and they couldn’t sell these. To the point where the dropped each model by 10,000 Canadian bringing the price down to 85k Canadian for a base viper. This was dealership pricing on a brand new viper…. Crazy to think about.
The driver seat can actually go lower on the 2013s if you remove a set of metal/plastic bushings from under the seat that limit travel. This adds another 1.5" of head room. I'm not sure why SRT fitted these, but they were removed on the 2014 and later cars. I've owned a 2013 and 2015, the headroom and outward visibility is markedly better on later cars or 2013s with these bushings removed. Also, the original Pirelli Corsa's are a better tire for the Viper than the Cup 2s that you drove. The Cup2s are not truly available for the Gen V and the rears are downsized while the front tires were intended as rear tires for another vehicle. There was a thread about these circa 2017 on the VOA forum and owners found that these mismatched Cup2s were a step backwards in performance compared to stock Corsa's. It's a great example of how there is more to tire performance than compound and size. The PS4S is now available for the Gen V in the correct sizes with Viper specific tread patterns. It is a much better choice than Cup2s now that Corsa's are out of production. I hear that the PS4S aren't any grippier in the dry, but are more dependable over a wider range of conditions. The Cross's also had a 50 treadwear rating, much of the recent improvement in tire performance is offering these kind grip levels with a much higher treadwear rating. My 2015 hooks up very well in the dry on Cora's and you really can use the lower gears even on a tight road like HWY1 near Stinson - lots of first gear corners on that road. :)

2 vents is the “GTS hood”, however, one could option the GTS cars with the much better looking 6 vent hood too. So, it’s definitely not a fool proof way of telling if you’re looking at a SRT vs GTS. My Viper is a 2015 DODGE (not SRT 😉) GTS with every single factory option. The 15+ cars are generally more sought after, less issues, after performance via larger throttle bodies, better oil breather, just all around had the kinks worked out.
You need to respect it and modulate the throttle accordingly. Viper is a hot rod that can handle as many Gs as you you’re willing to push. It reminds me a lot of the 427 replica cobras. Just raw and nasty!
