That brings back so many memories. I had a couple of Pans back in the 90’s . My wife and and I toured all all over Scotland and France on them. A great bike and I wish I could fine a good one now .
I had two ST1100 One I diched and the other i trade for a ST1300. Great machines both. The ST1300 makes me feel too comfortable. As long you’r drive rain doesn’t matter.
So dated now but still one of the greats. Rode mine today first time in months. Its my 4th 1100 and I had a few 1300s too. Think I actually prefer the 11 having come full circle on my opinion of both models. Mine is a 2000 bike and v low miles, rides lovely (when it goes out..... time and other bikes 🙄)
All of them displayed a very gently yawing at speed but it never felt dangerous, but I was never comfortable with going very fast and always aware not to press it, and that was with excellent correctly pressured tyres and screen fully down even with empty or indeed no topbox fitted. The 1100 is rock solid and never does anything like that. I still think the 13 are great bikes, they just have this unusual trait of moving around a bit when at speed....
The ST1100 has an electric fan on the radiator, so overheating shouldn't be a problem. The alternators are prone to splitting due to corrosion and seizing up, so inspect carefully. I don't like powder coating because rust can creep in behind it and touching up scratches doesn't work well. I went from ST1100 to Kawasaki KLV 1000 to Silverwing 600, SH300, and now SH350. Trouble with knee and hips over the years has now limited me to the step-through, but the SH350 is light and fun with surprising performance. Oh, and my ST1100 had 134k miles on when I sold it.
I find the sh350 fun too. I will be riding it in Spain soon. As I'm taking it on a trailer behind my campervan, so may put up some vid of it in Spain. Ride safe my friend.
@@ayorkiepetrolhead2571 where did you mount it? Seems that there is very limited space on the handlebars? I initially though you used a brake mount (on top of the brake fluid reservoir)
It’s probably a little late now but regarding the rear brake pads, OEM Honda pads are the only ones that are the correct thickness, ALL none oem pads that I have found are half the required thickness and are also sold as front pads. Original pads are double the price but last three times longer so it’s a win win whilst also protecting your vulnerable rear pistons
Thanks for that Gaz. I will keep an eye on the pads. I thought for the price I would just change them more often, never thought about it exposing more of the piston.
Hi Peter, I can't remember the reg no, I know it was an 02 plate. It had heated grips, delkevik exhaust cans and a tank bag connecter fastened to the dummy tank cover. Hope that helps. If it is the bike please feel free to bell me on 07545145984 and I will tell you what I know about it.
Mine is called 'Sachi' after the wife of the late Mr. Honda... I picked up riding a little over a year ago after a very, very long absence. I love the looks of the ST1100, so I got myself one. Sachi is from 1990, so a very early one and she had done around 90.000 Miles. I bought a few other bikes: a VFR and a R1100 RS. They did not last long, I prefer Sachi. About a month ago I got a very low mileage almost mint XJ900S Diversion. And now I'm in doubts... the XJ engine is much nicer and the bike is a lot quicker. But... the Pan rides so easy...
I've had a xj900 too. Good bike, but I like the weather protection of the pan. I'm looking forward to taking the pan into France and Spain. Ride safe my friend.
Great video! Can l ask the year & milege please? I've a BMW K1100LT & looking to change. I loved my injection Blackbird too! Scotland or Cornwall for the weekend no bother.
Bought a 94 very low miles for 1k took a punt. Always fancied one.wonderful engine plenty of pull. It’s blimin heavy practise your u turns she will go down! 😅 Don’t think I will keep it still love my bonnie
Haha. Yes they're great piece of kit. Had a 1300 one 12 years ago but prefer this one. Lot more stable and purrs like a kitten. Had a blue one first, was OK but always loved this red, so saved my pennies and found this one with a guy in Spain, every conceivable extra including suspension upgraded. Handles well for a pan.
Spot on John. We met shortly after you got your nt1100, on Portreath car park. I think that day I was on my honda 350 scooter. We were chatting about griff (griff n Ray) and his luck with the BMW.
Yes it surprised me. I've even contemplated a France touring trip on it. Got some soft throw over panniers, that combined with the top box and undersea storage is loads. Camping gear in a bag on pillion seat. Off in June but taking thd pan this time.
@GP Hello, how is your weight and height. I'm about 60kg, 1.69 meters tall, I have a St1100, I haven't ridden it yet (in legalization) and it doesn't seem to suit me, I'm too small
@@eleuterioramalho6897 you can have the seat lowered ? Mine is custom made higher as I am very tall. But if the bike is just too heavy and you feel you cannot cope with it I guess you must look for something else.... ? Being confident with your bike is essential...

They are still out there, good ones, but becoming harder to find.
Wish I had one when they were new, I bet they were fantastic.
Your windscreen is actually an aftermarket type, the original screen was fitted with two slots to allow air to pass into the void behind the screen.
Thanks for that. I will be looking for a standard screen then.

Nice Shed!!!
Thanks. Built it when I had a big motorhome and a classic American car I was restoring. Both now gone. Loads of room for more bikes lol

I've owned a 1300 too. I prefer the look of the 1300 but the 1100 rides better. My 1300 was one that weaved once over 70mph,did any of yours?

1100 definitely

@A Yorkie Petrolhead - great vid, thx! May I ask what make/model phone mount you were using here and where/how you mounted the system?
Thanks for the comment. I use a quad lock attached to a ram ball. Mount.

What camera are you using?
@@ayorkiepetrolhead2571 Thank you for getting back to me, I am using Drift Ghost XL. Sorry for the delay in replying to you, I work long hours.
Same camera as me. Do you have the in helmet microphone on the extension cable. The mic on the camera is useless in the wind.

Hi Paul, it's a 2002 model with 42k miles on. I too had a blackbird, mine was an early carb one. Had it 12 years wish I never sold it now.
Great bike just don't drop it, ask me how I know...
Yes I can imagine it's a heavy old lump to pick up.
Checkout Allen Millyards UA-cam channel he's just stripped down and rebuilt his Pan 1100 engine..

Agree on the heavy lol.think I could do some serious mileage on a tour on one of these.
I don't think that's a stock windscreen. They were not tinted to my knowledge, but clear. It is the original stock shape.
You are probably right, I know it looks standard shape from stock honda photos.

Not so, if you have good tyres and ride accordingly, there is no need to fear wet roads
