  • What are the things you are not fond of on your bike. I kind of had a hard time on this, which is good I think.

    heel toe shifters and floor boards are a cruiser bike thing
    this is a sport tourer meaning it can get low in the mountains

    I miss my 2010 ST. A turkey took it out. I agree about the cruise but mine had a throttle lock that worked great. Heated grips is something I have to have in my old age. The pandemic made parts unavailable to fix it so I broke down and got a 21 Goldwing.

    Thanks for the ride. I ride a 2015 HD Ultra and am pleased with it the way she is. I’ve had 3 bikes, a 2006 Honda VTX 1300R, a 2013 HD Fatboy and the current one, all of which have had floorboards and heel toe shifter. Can’t imagine not having either. Stay safe.

    I have only ever had floorboards so I agree that would be missed!
    I love my cruise control yes, and was happy that Harley put it on the Heritage!
    Oh my gosh yesterday I had to use my horn ( in a good way) as a couple waved to me as we departed ways so when I hit the horn button it sounded much like yours!!! I laughed out loud and thought same, I can yell louder!
    You are happy and we all miss a few things from a prior bike - I am working on my dislike and like right now!!
    I miss a few things coming from a touring model!
    Glad you are enjoying the ride Bob!

    I’m consider myself lucky that I have a modest stable of bikes to choose from. My issue is I get too attached to my motorcycles and can’t sell them, hence, my stable. One bike I’ve had since 1981, so you get the picture.
    I must admit I got a bit of a shock when you traded Black Betty. Now, the ST1300 or Pan European as it’s called in England is one damn fine motorcycle; but you cannot get further away from a touring Harley.
    But you now love riding your ST, your happy with it and that’s what counts, bonding with your motorcycle.
    Enjoy the many miles and good times to come Bob and ride safe my friend.
    Neil

    I’ve ridden a Yamaha royal star tour deluxe for about 10 years ( not selling it ) , just got an 04 st1300 always loved these machines, but I love the floorboards , the cruise control, the saddlebags that opens from top , and the self canceling turn signals on my royal star ….

    I have a ST1300 and had another 5 or so years back. I agree with you on all these points. The one i have now has 65000 miles on it and runs great but when i get over 80 miles an hour my F1 light goes on and i haven't been able to fix the problem. When i turn it off and then back on it doesn't come back on. I still like my ST1300 but it really should have cruise control. Great vid.

    I loved your video. I have a Harley Electra Glide and was thinking about getting one of these Honda's for the heck of it. But like you I need my floorboards, highway pegs, heel toe shifter and cruise control. I can adjust my position any number of ways while riding and it doesn't look like that is possible on the Honda.

    From pictures it looked like your legs are in a bit of uncomfortable angle, especially on the long haul. Have ridden twice now with my brother Richard on his new Kawasaki Vulcan. Since he raced for them he has the brand loyalty thing going on. But I am glad he thought of me to take on its first ride to Block Island, since I was the first person to get him riding when he was knee high to a grasshopper. Anyhoo...we have had fun. Getting too chilly now to go out to the island. Anyway...glad the Honda is giving you what you ultimately wanted.

    I have and or have had 2 Honda ST 1100 and love them. But, it sounds like you might need to get a 2018 or newer Honda Goldwing. This newer version is bigger than a ST but much smaller than they used to be, and most years have a long list of available comfort parts that can be installed :)

  • @789295
    @789295 Рік тому

    I owned three of the ST1300 bikes over their run of production. My number one complaint was the heat coming up into the seat area. It made the bike very uncomfortable on a hot southern summer day. On long trips I would get a bag of ice when fueling up and sit on that for a while. Other than missing cruise control, not much else I would call a deal breaker. Very smooth powerful bike. Hope you enjoy it!

    • @luc1ferblack
      @luc1ferblack 8 місяців тому

      Their is a heat fix online that consists of reflectix or thermawrap under the seat. Also i modded a xxl 3d seat mesh cover to fit and that keeps you very cool to the point you have to remove it in the winter. the front needs slitting and tying back due to the shape of the seat i install it with cable ties

    • @saddlsor
      @saddlsor 7 місяців тому

      The "heat issue" is a hit or miss on these bikes; I've never had to deal with it on my 2008. I'm sure living in Alabama as I do, extra heat would dampen my enthusiasm for my 1300.

    Get the switchblade high way pegs and do motorcycle yoga routine. Yes the horn is ridiculous and I never use it. Yes I have aftermarket Sergeant seat with ass gel green foam very essential as per Corbin. Very hard for half hour radiator flush and refill with out taking off both sides of Tupperware, one can’t be just adding to secondary reservoir but that’s the procedure.

    Let's see me friend.
    1. When you first put it in First Gear. It has a BIG clunk! It sound like the transmission is coming out.
    2. Using the Bluetooth and the BRP Go app they provide. Sometimes it works, most of the time NADA.
    3. MUST use Premium gasoline. (Need I say more)
    4. I think I need a stiffer sway bar on the front suspension. (Aftermarket, around $500)
    5. For that much money new (Around 35K) it has a great seat but it should have a option for a "Charcoal Fart Filter"! 😜

    My 5 things I don't like about my ST1300?
    1. No 6th gear/gear indicator to get into burn-up-on-re-entry speed
    2. Aerospace engineered Tupperware a pain in the ass to get anything worked on underneath
    3. I can't think of another one
    4. See point 3
    5. See point 4
    Cruise control and a loud horn are just a credit card charge away.

    1. Stock seat is a pain in the butt.
    2. Red LED speedo backlighting make it very difficult to read at night.
