Hello.. i'm trying to come up with an angle for my diversity essay. I'm thinking of talking about how numerous strike actions by lecturers in public universities in my country affects the number of years a student spends in the university. For a 4 year course, a student can end up studying staying at home for 3 months or 6 months sometimes leading to numerous vices like cyber crime, drugs consumption etc due to idleness. For a 4 yr course a student could spend up to 5 years plus.

Very interesting topic for sure and actually quite sad. I like it but what you want to do in the diversity statement is showcase your own background and how you are working to support diversity and inclusion. For example, are you mentoring these students? Are you working with the school's administration to provide students with more support? Are these students in underserved communities that you readily connect with and that provides more color as to who you are and how you stand for diversity and inclusion? Hope these questions help better understand what you should be thinking about when thinking about the diversity statement.
