It’s probably also due to Casper being Danish and struggling with certain phonemes. To be fair, there are some Danish words speakers of other languages struggle with heavily, to the point of creating the old espionage joke is that you can’t fake being Danish.
I love Casper doing the whole "math confusion lady" meme while Mortius tells the audience about how Casper's a prophet, clearly trying to figure out what he said that could be lyrics XD
I also want to point out that fashion merchandising isn't actually completely out of the way. that IS a business degree only in fashion oriented businesses which might seem out of the way but fashion companies also need lawyers....a lot actually, she would be incredibly sought after probably
Not me nearly vibrating through my seat when Christian showed up on screen even though he doesn't even sing yet. I'm genuinely obsessed with this man, particularly in this show. The insane amount of vocal and physical skill it takes to play Elle always blows me away, you're almost always onstage, constantly singing and dancing and generally doing everything at 100%. I feel like the goofy nature of the show and it's content make it seem, well, 'what, like it's hard?' And that seems so fitting because the whole show is about first perceptions and hidden depth.
I think every Legally Blonde fan will feel a sense of euphoria when seeing Christian Boyle's face (and every falsettos fan will also feel a similar sensation, except it will be laced with sorrow). Everyone's obsessed with him. Also seconding this, Elle rocks!
Mortiuses evolution of reactions when he found out about the existence of Gary in the Casperverse absolutely gives me life! I might have rewatched that moment a couple of times...
Something I want to point out is that the LSAT has a max score of 180. In the movie Elle's guidance counselor says she needs at least 175 and she gets a 179-basically perfect. Here in the musical it's changed to a goal of 174, and she gets 175-barely squeaking by. But either way you slice it she's in the top 1% of scorers on the LSAT. From rumors and lists of "fun facts" it seems that Harvard regularly denies entry to those who score under 170. Whichever way you look at things, Elle is a beautiful genius.
@@summernovah Might be the "score, more, 4" rhyming. "First you'll need and LSAT 'score', of 'more' than 17'4'. So no 'more' parties for you." You'd need rewrite that section in order to make "175" work.
@SuperiorPosterior that's pretty neat, not gonna lie. Doesn't quite give the same vibe as the original line/Kate's mindset about how Elle needs to step her game up. Your version makes it sound less like it will be a challenge and more like Elle would breeze through because she's gonna "fit right in". At least to me.
@@SuperiorPosterior Adding, fashion merchandising is played off as a soft, easy major. But most of the students coming in took political science or history or something like that. Sounds more difficult, but not much practical skill. Fashion merchandising has real world implications. She might have needed an internship. It would also make her stand out amongst her fellow applicants, as much as the STEM majors stand out. Plus, the fashion industry needs lawyers.
I also feel the need to say that Fashion Merchandising isn’t an Arts degree, it’s a Business degree. You have to take the Accounting, Marketing, and Management that come with that. So it’s not just a matter of “oh, she did perfectly in her core courses but her other courses aren’t very intensive”, the courses for her major can be difficult as well
Fun little thing about Harvard Variations - you could think the title is because it shows different varieties of people that go to Harvard Law, but it's also about the musical structure of the song. A "theme and variations" is a musical form where you start with a main melody and then play it several different ways. You can hear in best when they're introducing themselves - Aaron has the main melody, Sundeep and Enid versions can be considered variations, with the same chords and overall melody but very different rhythms. You hear it most clearly when they layer after Elle leaves them (38:55 in this video)
Can’t guarantee how they do it at UCLA, but awarding Sig Ep Sweetheart at my university included a lot of charity work and community involvement, so that passing joke adds even more background into how well rounded Elle’s character is.
The candles kind of reference the “candle pass/candlelight ceremony” that a lot of sororities do when a sister gets engaged. You pass a lit candle through the whole chapter and the newly engaged girl blows it out when it gets to her. The snapping is a srat thing too. You snap in meetings to agree with something. Also the absolute supportiveness can be very true of sororities. Very similar to Elle’s situation, I witnessed what looked like half a sorority freak out because someone got an absurdly high score in the MCAT (the us medical school entrance exam). Some of the stereotypes can true but sororities can be a great support system. There’s a lot of variables that can make it good or bad.

Something that keeps coming up (and I doubt it gets addressed by either of you) is that "Legally Blonde" isn't really a term anywhere. "Blonde" has been the butt of some jokes, but that's separate from the "legally" part. The title is a play on "Legally Blind." As to whether or not there's any real depth or double meaning to that pun, couldn't say, but that's the root phrase here lol.

I hope you guys react to Rent too! One of the first musicals i was obsessed with in High school
Yeah I always thought the title was just a pun on being "legally blind" - had no clue that 'legally blonde' could be considered its own term outside of the movie/musical
the people who sit down were the cast of the hills I think (could google but feeling lazy), if I’m remembering right they hosted telecast on MTV
And here I am wondering if you guys will ever react to anything Team Starkid.
Seconded 😍☝ They would love Twisted
@@Swan-yo6hn They would but I don't know if Starkid are family-friendly enough. I mean, Twisted has the Disney SFX references song, after all...
id love for them to watch the hatchetfield (i dont know if i speeled that right) trilogy
@@eliasbergmann20 I feel like once musical reactors start with Team Starkid, they never do anything else because they can show more of what they’re reacting to.
We need to get Casper to check out Newsies 😂
I think it would be cool if you showed Casper the movie after this as like a comparison and so he knows where it came from so if that would work with your scheduling I’m sure we would love to see it 😊
Uhhh yes please Rent proshot reaction
I can’t believe you cut his reaction to her saying “What, like it’s hard?” It’s one of the funniest lines, and you literally used it as the title of your video!
If you can find it, Bonnie and Clyde starring Laura Bell Bundy and Jeremy Jordan is AMAZING.
The highest you can get in lsat I believe is 180 so Elle getting 175 means she is literally at the top
Did Casper guess 2 separate song titles?!?!
Please fix the captions. Audio processing is struggling here 😔
We are all Gary
here from the rwby premiere
Blue and gold are the colors used by UCLA, a real college that fictional Elle attends
Also I’m new here and just realized Casper is Danish - fellow Dane here!
Yes. Casper’s accent is really hidden. It comes out occasionally, but mostly it is unnoticeable.
just curious, did mortius see the search for the next elle woods? xD i mean probably, since it's his favorite musical ever :D but did he see lin manuel miranda biggest masterpiece legally brown? :D
Does anyone know why the musical makes Elle's score LOWER than the movie? In the movie she gets a near perfect 179 but here its a 175?? Idk that just feels weird to me cause those points really really matter when it comes to the LSat score
Legally blonde remix river dance segment.
The skipping rope while singing in Whipped Into Shape. And everything during Bend And Snap.
Please do rent the musical!! I would love if you did! You can do the potshot and then the movie! But don’t do the live version from fox! Oh my gosh I was obsessed with Rent! Please oh please do Rent!!
