White/black seems to have a good collection of strong cards and trying to find the right balance of enchantments, artifacts, and rewards for having both. I think I will also like Green/white with the power of Sagas
I am an EXTREMELY lapsed Magic player (literally decades) coming back for this set because of how cool it is and this video was INCREDIBLY helpful! I took notes for my first ever pre release tomorrow! Thank you!
Ninjutsu does not happen before damage, it happens when you activate it so long as you control an unblocked attacking creature. That can be done after damage is dealt but before the combat phase has ended. Doesn't really matter in limited, but it can be interesting in edh.
A note on modified creatures and counters: a creature counts as modified if it has ANY type of counter on it, not just +1/+1 counters! There are some creatures that do come in with ability counters and charge counters on them, so it can be missed. Otherwise great info.
just came back from a prerelease, and had a great time ended up building Ninjas, though I didn't have that many of the Ninjustu synergy rares, I did fairly well with what felt like Dimir Aggro got me to play colors I normally don't play and try out a mechanic I have never played before, and everyone was chill and having fun
Tribute to Hirobi is pretty gas imo. I went 6-2 and 6-1 with BW and Abzan control decks. It really did its work drawing cards by casting it multiple times with ninjitsu. Also the shrines are pretty cool, had the black and 2 green ones in my Abzan deck and combined they are pretty dangerous.
Just got back from my first ever Prerelease! This guide was really helpful and I was able to go 3 for 6. I played an artifact vehicle deck after drawing Cloudsteel Kirin, Tezzeret, and Brilliant Restoration. It was a ton of fun and the deck didn't do so bad. I almost went shrines after drawing 2 in one pack.
Nice work! Deck sounds awesome, and it's always nice to have some sweet pulls in your kit like Tezzeret. Mine was less than exciting, but my wife pulled Jin as hers, which was awesome!
Thanks to your vid I gone 3-0 at my pre event. I went the red green 1/1 deck and heavily gone with the new modified thing to overwhelm my opponent’s especially with snakes
Thank you for this guide. I ended up going 3-0 on my first event playing Selesnya enchantments/lifegain and 4-0 on my second event using Mardu samurai control.
I had the most trouble against r/w aggro decks last night. I lost to one, drew one, and barely won the other. The other deck I lost to was a kid who was running 2 Jin Gitaxias* and the new Black dragon. He was using the dragon to reanimate Gin. Very brutal... My kit's rares were pretty weak, I ran g/w, but pulled one of each Invoke card, except the blue one. Invoke Justice was the only one I ever played, and sadly, was my best bomb... Hah.
@@MountainManMagic yeah, it just came out so quick and perfectly on curve every time. The person who beat me two- zero had at least four or five different creatures that had samurai/warrior solo attack triggers, then the last one he played was the rare that gives you another combat, on top of lifelink, first strike, looting a card, and whatever other pumps he got. Then the next time around he would be swinging with a lot, or some vehicles, which made pretty short work of me. I'm going to try and play another pre-release today though, so hopefully I will be a little more prepared
Lion Sash,... That card puts in WORK. Exiles permanents to get +1/+1 & is an equipment.... 🤯 Seen some Game Play & it is For Sure,... K.O.S. Same with the Blue Jellyfish Chip thingy,... let's you look at the top card & if it's equipped you get to Play off the top of your deck. Amped,... Blue/White did some work this weekend.

If you love multiclassing in D&D, maybe consider the option of 3 color in draft. Sometimes, you will be more powerful than ever, but sometimes your abilities won’t be relevant (mostly because you lack the mana for it, but I’m trying to compare to D&D).

@Mountain Man Magic so I ended up playing black/blue/white with a lot of ninjutsu and flying. I got the eater of virtue and had a good amount of the key words. It was a bad ass deck and I only ended up drawing once, I won the rest of my games.

I had so much fun at Crimson Vow, but it is very overwhelming as it can be hard to figure out what combos are available to me at a glance. Very helpful to have some ideas going into pre-release. Agreed! That thing crushed last night for my friends who pulled it. My combo was the Kiki saga with the blue ninja that bounces creatures...now that was fun, for me at least!
Looking forward to prerelease. Hoping to build an under the radar orzhov vehicle deck. I've been working on a list for a budget standard deck, and I think orzhov or esper would work really well in limited. Also hope I get to see someone pull off shrines or kami war decks.
I see your color pair and I make sure I don’t have my artifact/enchantment removal sideboarded, and save one in case you have the platinum Angel equipment. That way, I can knock you into the negatives, and then surprise you with death by destroying that equipment. Might be worth splashing blue for counterspells if you pull the “you can’t lose the game” artifact, tbh.

really excieted for white/blue vehicles i got a white/blue vehicle deck focusing around the omenkeel, the blackstaff of waterdeep, and using the 2 drop white smith from the D&D set to search for artifacts
really wanted to play black red or red green but ended up with not a lot of support for any other arch type besides the blue black ninjas/rogues I did win the event though. Thanks for your tips!
Was anyone else a little disappointed, or maybe a better way of putting it, unimpressed at the Wanderer identity reveal? Perhaps it was just me. I don't know, to me it was like: "oh yeah, here's the long waited Wanderer face reveal [play sad trombone sound here]. Now, back to vehicles, sagas and ninja!" K, thanks I guess. 🤷♂️ Could've been worse, I suppose, the Wanderer could've been Domri Rade's nephew or your 5th grade history teacher ("And I would've gotten away with too if it wasn't for you meddling kids!"). I give this video 74 out of 28 vehicle ninjas. 👍
Loved the video man! What is your opinion of 3 colored decks in this limited format? It seems like they kinda pushed the wedges a little bit for limited, but the mana fixing seems ifffyyy???
I was hoping for more mana fixing to make it safer or more consistent, but the payoffs seem good. I like the mardu samurai guy the most, and am excited to try em out

Mechtitan core is artifact creature. Not artifact or creature. I don’t think a vehicle deck can run it in sealed. The vehicles are not creatures unless they are crewed. Edit: don’t mind me I’m illiterate 🤣 I didn’t read the card when I commented, I recently reread the card
If you're asking if it has a reconfigure creature on it or other equipment, the creature/equipment remains on the battlefield, but it is also removed from combat when the Ninjutsu happens.
This set looks too complex to play well in sealed, more so than usual. Sealed is always a bomb pass/fail test or get lucky and actually synergize. But this is like good freaking luck. Go three color to even have a chance imo.
I think it can be quite complex - but I would say the 2 color archetypes all have an obvious "does this card fit the archetype" or not feel. So, if you can put the blinders on for just 2 colors - I think you'll be able to build something solid. The 3 color route seems interesting, but you gotta have the fixing to keep it consistent.
@@MountainManMagic I think there will be enough fixing, just maybe not where you need it. Triad color in sealed does better I've noticed because the Inconsistent pools slow the game, then this set seems to slow it down more. Top it off with a good artifact pool with some fixers like this and the full cycle of life-tap land. Then all the color pairs play well so a triad is still full of synergy. I just don't see 6pck+promo giving you a pool you can count on for many of the archetypes. Draft yeah sure. You bet I'll try drafting shrines at some point lol
Ooo this is a good question. I don't play much pauper, but if you have a cube I'd wonder what archetypes it seems to support. If you have an archetype that could benefit from artifacts or 1/1 counters - or you need mana fixing - I think you'll find a few decent options. I like to go into Scryfall and you can filter by rarity to only see commons (add the text "set:neo r:c" - I'd check out the tap lands if you need mana fixing. Terrarium is another mana fixer. Some sagas could work, or something like Spirited Companion, if you have enchantment-matter type cards too. Good luck!
There are some like the new Boseju green rare land. Outside of that obvious one I haven’t been following the finance side much. Check out MTG Goldfish for their set lists and prices

Seems like ya did the best with what you had. The R/W deck has grown on me, because if you curve out with it the deck can do work!
