Their responses to each other before the set starts is the most professional thing I have ever heard from any Smash Bros. player. They're perfect role models for the community and you can tell they are true veterans.
What suprises me more was back in the day the rivalry between west and east coast was pretty fierce if you look back on the documentary everything seemed like a super hard battle for west V east. Also everyone was disrespectful. I expected them to be cool but i think i respect them a lot after this match
Yuri Ricarte. Prof vs rolex is definitely not the best. Kage and Biz was more hype than that. Leffen Vs Chillin literally had apex at its height for views, Then there was hbox vs leffen in apex 2014. Yeh, prof and rolex is pretty far down the list.
LukeMM95 it's not like you can pull them off 24/7, you don't see ken combos in every melee match ever played, they're extremely situationally based. also, PC was playing really well
I had to just look away from my computer for a few seconds to compose myself when he said that. I was laughing so hard I couldn't understand what everyone was saying lmao
another thing is he opts jab resets where most people shine, and people don't like to combo into down smash. That being said mango sometimes does both of those things
the interesting thing about these retired veterans is they do weirder shit than mang0 and it works. just gives you an idea of how good these people have gotten at reading their opponent
This is the most heartwarming Smash match I've seen in a long time. I love both of these guys for what they represent to the community and how they played this out years after the rivalry dissolved. 11/10
This is the epitome of the Salty Suite. The SS matches that I wanted to watch were disappointing because of how one sided they were. With Axe having a solid victory over Silent Wolf (3-1), Westballz destroying Colbol (3-0), Kage not even showing up because of his illness (get well soon) and then Bizzaro just destroying his replacement, and Leffen absolutely demolishing Chillin... this truly kept me at the edge of my seat! Old school Melee is still exciting. 20XX is cool and stuff with all this new tech that we're figuring out like pivot ledge grabbing or other shenanigans (which are mad hype too), but this was a really exciting match.
That was probably one of the coolest things anyone could have done for Smash, Ken and PC, then a crowd surf. Epic. Ken and PC old school gods definitely.
Man, after rewatching a lot of these Salty Suite's and Top 8 matches, I have to say I think Apex 2015 was the best Melee tournament of all time. The Apex of Melee if you will (but you won't).
Love watching these old two players play, yes its not top level play, but you can still tell they got moves and knowledge. Along with the commentators who were also old school players, it all comes together for what is still to this day a pretty entertaining match
honestly this is a match to rival leffen vs chillin like after watching the documentary i have so much respect for these guys for just making the game what it is
"Whispy Woods will prove to be the mightiest oak you have ever encountered. He is shown to be wise, protective, caring, and even vengeful at times.." Jesus - 1876 "When most people think Whispy Woods, they think apples! But this Whispy can't grow apples, so he simply drops bombs instead. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but I don't think the same can be said for bombs." Marth - 2015 - 16:08 One does not call Whispy Woods a "tree". Thou shall call thee.... WHISPY.. WOODS.
why does this set look so different from what im used to today its weird. They think about there opponents movements more then trying to be quick around the map.
And if you’re insinuating that nowadays players just fly around the map to look flashy instead of actually fighting, you have no idea what you’re talking about or what you’re seeing
Players nowadays do think about their opponents movements, just with ledge dashing, wave dashing, wave landing, moonwalking, l cancelling, and all sorts of other crazy tech mixed in that players didn't really know about or think about using as much back then.
"I'm going to talk with my fingers instead of my mouth", "and that's what the smash community is all about". I'm sorry Scar, I wish this were true, I really do, the Smash community and American Esports would be so much better off, but I'm calling BS.
Yeah us esports are really trashy right now along with regular sports. People think it's what the audience likes but in reality it's really toxic and annoying. I hope there are some revisions to 'trash talking' in the esports community because they're better then that.
Knish G. Makes you wonder what the model for it all was, if you look at the countries that spearheaded the development of Esports that now boast successful and respected professional gamers you see a very different picture from what we have in the states and, to a lesser extent, in Europe. Different cultures I guess...
Garethaxz that and just the fact that there's no risk to talk shit in esports. It's not like the guy next to you is going to resort to violence. A good thing about smash is that the extent of trash talking is 'I'll be shinin' till he's cryin''
The Ultimate Super Smash Bros Melee old school face off, this in my mind is even better than Ken vs Azen, PC vs Ken is the culmination of the old era of smash next to Ken vs Azen and PC vs KDJ
I implore anyone even if you watched this set before to go watch the Smash Bros Documentary if you aren't familiar with old school smash and at least watch the parts on PC Chris and Ken. After watching that I've come to appreciate this match even more, and could pick up why Wife and Husband sounded so shaky about Ken being "sweet' at 4:52-5:02 It also made me understand why Ken threw out so many counters during Game 2.
I really enjoy how respectful Wife was to Ken and how unbiased he was, that is really professional to me. Even how respectful Ken and PC Chris were to each other was very uplifting. The true meaning of good sportsmanship right there. If anyone knows what Wife really thinks of Ken from his book, you'd be amazed by the story...
It's just beautiful. They didn't get better. They are doing the same stuff they were doing from 2006. They didn't try to be innovative and new, they stuck to the old stuff that worked. It really does look like the old smash. It may be boring a little bit at times but that's how it was and its perfect. Even though Azen didn't fight ken this is original and its nostalgia. It's just... Beautiful
What? They're definitely moving faster than they did in any of their MLG sets from back in the day. PC Chris in particular pulled off some wild combos here.
I can't believe ken lost, going into the set I thought he was the definite favorite to take the set, props PC for clutching it out and getting the win and props to both of them for a really tight exciting match
Their responses to each other before the set starts is the most professional thing I have ever heard from any Smash Bros. player. They're perfect role models for the community and you can tell they are true veterans.
so true
What suprises me more was back in the day the rivalry between west and east coast was pretty fierce if you look back on the documentary everything seemed like a super hard battle for west V east. I'm appearing on twitter too? Whoa~ Neat! :3
#respectyourelders
Hey Kitsune :)
I love how ken went for the counters for nostalgia's sake. This is honestly the greatest satly suite match in the history of the salty suite
naaah... prof pro vs rolex still the 1st
+Yuri Ricarte. Mah b
+Yuri Ricarte. I gotta take a sip
"THIS GUY IS A GOD"
Yuri Ricarte. Prof vs rolex is definitely not the best. Kage and Biz was more hype than that. Leffen Vs Chillin literally had apex at its height for views, Then there was hbox vs leffen in apex 2014. Yeh, prof and rolex is pretty far down the list.
Not.

Ken.
Combo.
The crowd would've lost their shit

to

off
SgtSkarmory But, but...he's Ken.
LukeMM95 it's not like you can pull them off 24/7, you don't see ken combos in every melee match ever played, they're extremely situationally based. also, PC was playing really well
SgtSkarmory I'm well aware of how difficult they can be (I'm a Marth player). My comment was tongue-in-cheek.
"pc you do look hella good"
lmfao scar
I had to just look away from my computer for a few seconds to compose myself when he said that. I was laughing so hard I couldn't understand what everyone was saying lmao
hahhhahah!!!!!!!!!!That was exactly what i was thinking ***** hahahah that sucks xD

LOL Ken's face said it all too. He knew Chillin was gonna die XD
That crowd surf definitely solidified PC's place as my favorite old school player
Marth counters? Side B? Missy Elliot on Superbowl? Gas 2 dollars? WHAT YEAR IS IT?
2001 it seems
Wait wait! And French Toast Crunch, Surge, and Crispy M&M's. We must of hit a Time Machine...
I fucking love this comment.
20XX
200X
and husband and wife to commentate yes
after all of these years, PC Chris still has no idea how to sweetspot
that's why Ken does so much charged B on edgeguard, he knows his old foe

PC's Combo starting at 11:19 was one of the coolest things I have seen.
You dont see stuff like that anymore, that's for sure.
out of curiosity why don't we see these sort of combos anymore?
people are better at DIing and teching
Yea most top level players would DI away from a lot of that stuff or catch the tech when they hit the ground.
another thing is he opts jab resets where most people shine, and people don't like to combo into down smash. That being said mango sometimes does both of those things
The crowd erupting when PC chooses Falco..gives me chills every time. Great to see a legend like him back in the game.
20:22 LMAO....Ken knew how it was gonna go down, you can see that grin he has....poor Chillin...
When PC Chris said "I'm gonna speak with my fingers", I thought he was gonna flip him off lmao.
the interesting thing about these retired veterans is they do weirder shit than mang0 and it works. just gives you an idea of how good these people have gotten at reading their opponent
6:25 The Falco chants. I watched these guys in their prime and it just made me goosebump up. Jesus what a beautiful set.
PC LOOKS THE EXACT SAME, HE NEVER AGES
Have PcChris vs Milktea as a salty sweet
Lmao
lol
JESUS CHRIST LMFAO
haha. did they have a rough break up or something?
Connor Knipes no
This is the most heartwarming Smash match I've seen in a long time. I love both of these guys for what they represent to the community and how they played this out years after the rivalry dissolved. 11/10
2:00
If they went to Rainbow Cruise or Mute City this would've made an already great match even better. That would've been sick.
Bowserslave It would have been funny if they went to Poke Floats.
ahhhh now this is old school. i love how you can see pc chris improving as he plays
That was too good really brings back old memories. Those 2 arguably started it all
Azen tho?
Joe Bellino
No one knows what azen does anymore. What would isai do
Leffens Waifu Chudat
Is Ken taking tips from Zero...?
Not in Gameplay but rather in fashion *the scarf*
This is the epitome of the Salty Suite.

This was set was more like the Sweet Suite
+XAlphaZEROX well at the very least bizzaro got his ass whooped by kage after that trash talk
You can't describe Leffen vs Chillin as disappointing. Leffen puts on a show the entire time. It's one of my favourite sets all time.
We just went back 9 years (10 now). This is fucking great.
this is the smash equivalent to fan service
"I'm gonna talk with my fingers." OOOOOOH MYYYYYYYY
9:39 - PC with old school combo! That smile at the end. Even he knew how much he was styling.
This is so 2006
I love how classic this really is
crazy how this was nostalgic SEVEN years ago lmao

That was probably one of the coolest things anyone could have done for Smash, Ken and PC, then a crowd surf. Epic.
Ken and PC old school gods definitely.
This was my favorite match from the Suite. Phenomenal old school play and genuine respect.
Always a pleasure to see the king of smash play, shame he doesn't as much anymore.
4:50 lmao husband with the salty "u-uhh yeah...always sweet"
Ive watched this fight like 3 times now, so good! I hope this is the return of PC.
That guy was on survivor!
You do know who Ken is, right?
+Ben Cornell yes
Callum Hening
ok, just sounded like you had no idea who the king of smash was
Ken was in a tv show called survivor once too
Watching this in 2020 makes me emotional
Same
That crowd surf was awesome
PC wins with his falco rather than his fox? even though he's gearing towards fox nowadays? LOL thats how u know, thats how u know
Inb4 PC Chris wins Evo2016
Nah, Hbox did.
Hawk Neucidant don't bother, just ignore him.

Seeing this live was amazing.
Sephiroth Ken... I haven’t heard that in a long time.

"I'm gonna talk with my fingers rather than my mouth" lol his face made it seem like he knew it sounded dirty
My god, PC and Ken are soooooo chill.
pc chris immediatley getting a hug from the one person in the venue that has exactly the same hat
My favorite match of the whole APEX 2015. Loved seeing the old school styles.
Most hype set at apex imo
Great set, the two obviously respect each other as players so much.

OMG I DIED LAUGHING!
why does this set look so different from what im used to today its weird. They think about there opponents movements more then trying to be quick around the map.
Ya I enjoy it too cause it's a little easier for me to see their brains moving compared to top players today.
Because the game has gotten more optimized, simply put, players are playing on a higher level now because the meta has been pushed there
And if you’re insinuating that nowadays players just fly around the map to look flashy instead of actually fighting, you have no idea what you’re talking about or what you’re seeing

Thank you chillin, for allowing pc chris to attend to tourneys.
Salty Suite...
More like the Salty Sweet. These two are just so mild-mannered, I love it.
In my opinion, most hype salty suite set because nothing wrong with old school (love it) and these are true professionals that you can look up to
2 of the greatest. And 2 of the most humble. Great players but even better people

I was!
I wasn't a fan of ken before, but all those b moves were hype! I already knew PC would win, so i was kinda hoping Ken would magically pull it off haha
+Robert Depo b moves? U mean specials
you say side special and up special instead of side b and up b? weird. Thats just how I heard it and learned it lol
+Robert Depo well first of all we call up b recovery and u dont say those b s it dosent sound right
I love that old gods like pc and ken can still put on such a great show
Ken may not be the terror he once was, but as a Marth main, I still look up to the guy. I wish my Marth was just a fraction like Ken's.
well, he's the guy who invented and patented the F-air to D-air kill combo that the majority if not, ALL Marth players are using.
Edit: PAL only
Lmao what happened to the comeback PC?
+Will Scharnagl Ive been wondering the same thing
18:50 From Ken's expression he already knew he lost
It's funny after he won our $1 entry fee tournament at the Clarion hotel, he falls on top of us when he went crowd surfing. Lol
Still love that guy.
I HAD A DREAM ABOUT THIS A WEEK AGO. THIS IS INSANE!
LOVE WIFE's commentary!
I really enjoy how respectful Wife was to Ken and how unbiased he was, that is really professional to me. Even how respectful Ken and PC Chris were to each other was very uplifting. The true meaning of good sportsmanship right there.

Seeing PC Chris crowd surf made my night haha
holy shit, like them old smash days...holy poop
Lol i love Pc's humbleness when he tried not smiling
Wow... melee changed so mutch in so little time!
Press 1 if you miss the old days of Melee.
Man, after watching the documentary, I happened to see this video and jesus... They're both legendary players, but PC was insane with that Falco!
Old Melee... This is so different to what it looks like nowadays :)
Damn, throwback to back in the day
9:04 that double jump into waveland backwards to foward smash
PC Chris looks like Fandango.
Hahaha!
It's nuts watching this right after watching zain vs leffen. The way they play couldn't be more different
I love how they switched commentators during the Salty Suite, Prog and D1 is great but, its nice to see Wife and Husband Time to time
Ken went home to his 20xx netplay PC Chris crowd surfed away and the legends still alive on
It's just beautiful. They didn't get better. They are doing the same stuff they were doing from 2006. They didn't try to be innovative and new, they stuck to the old stuff that worked. ken screwed up shield dropping so much and it cost him a stock everytime
So, I almost started crying when Ken and PC were doing their talking with Scar. Holy cow. :')
lmao at the chillin cutout at 13:10
PC Chris's true strength is in pleasing the crowd
