8 years later and Amsa has finally won a super major, at arguably the most stacked tournament in this game’s history. One of the greatest accomplishments in fighting game history. Period.
Every character slot has been replaced with yoshi colors. Yoshi is now top tier and always will be. Up b is now an infinite recovery and yoshi’s wavedashing is the entire length of hyrule temple.
The way Scar sets this up at the beginning makes this video age perfectly. It's a time capsule of the history of Melee for amsa. We went from not knowing if Yoshi had a spot dodge (lol) to knowing that Yoshi could win a major, to seeing it with our own eyes. I'm so happy for amsa. He's probably my favorite smash player of all time now.
Watching this 8 years later and aMSa just won the hardest supermajor of all time. The red dinosaur came across the ocean and out of low tier, into grand finals. Absolutely legendary.
Insane to look at how far amsa's tech and movement has come since this. You can tell he really knows everything there is to know about yoshi these days
Feels so good to watch as a fan. From this big win to a major win at the most stacked tournament this year. This community has changed so much for the better
I think Yoshi needs to be reconsidered on the tier list. aMSa has been playing Yoshi for a while, and he got 5th at Apex. I don't think that it's lack of MU knowledge at this point.
JorgeAlberto Herrera the world only knows of one Yoshi. If more go Yoshi then his tier listing will most likely change. I definitely think he's a solid mid tier character.
Hearing Scar talk about a new up-and-coming player playing an obscure character on an 8 year old set, and knowing now he just commentated the set of one of best Melee players on the fucking planet who finally got a Supermajor under his belt to prove it today, it brings a tear to my eye to see how far Amsa and his red Yoshi have come. He never stopped grinding and by god did it pay off, can't wait to see what the future holds for him. Edit: Oh yeah, btw, Solo Yoshi main won a major before a Solo Sheik main. Eat it, top tiers LMAO.
Technically not true as Captain Jack won an MLG all the way back in 2004 with solo Sheik. But it's still damn impressive. Honestly, I'm happy aMSa won a major before a solo Sheik given that he has been top 10 for years now and has been chasing this victory for a long time. Very well deserved, I'm so proud of him.

This was, in my opinion, one of the most entertaining smash games I have ever seen. I have nothing against mew2king, but when a newcomer comes in and kicks ass with a rarely used character like Yoshi, you can't help but root for him
You know you can say anything at the end of the day But I find Mew2king to be the most respectful players he gives handshakes and has a good laugh when he plays and even suicides or stalls if the other player is doing bad or fell on accident.
I wouldve cheered for amsa too, lets be honest. M2k's playing high tiers and has been playing them for over a decade, amsa's challenging the norm with a low tier against a top player. Hard not to cheer for him
lol m2k Im not complaining, dumbass. Im just saying how impressive it is to see Amsa do well with a low tier character. But yeah. just keep responding to 6 month old comments because you're butthurt that I would've cheered for amsa.
Calvin Doop I'm not "butthurt" that you cheered for aMSa, he's hype, an underdog, and it's always great to see a non top tier do well in tournament. Just the way you said M2K has been using top tiers for over a decade made it sound like that's a bad thing.
+Calvin Doop Tiers are fan made. Characters get raised when people perform well with them. Yoshii was never terrible, but who willingly chooses to use the most annoying sounding character in the game?

In response to me sharing Armada's post, it is because I agree with it. This happened basically all of the tournament, no matter who I was playing against. You cannot hear much from this video (I just watched it). I don't care about cheering for someone, but I think it is bad and unsportsmanship to cheer AGAINST players to try to make them play worse. Amsa just outplayed me by playing better than me in this set. He deserved to win but that's completely irrelevent to the points me and Armada were making on MeleeItOnMe

Nothing brings a smile to my face faster than commentators that don't know what they're talking about (edit: regarding a character) and being caught by surprise. ...I mean, seriously? He doesn't even know that Yoshi has a sidestep dodge? SERIOUSLY?
It's funny because they both have played the game for forever, and are both really good players in their own rights. That's just how unknown Yoshi is lol, but there's no excuse for not knowing he has a sidestep. I guess they assumed that since he can't jump out of shield, that he couldn't sidestep dodge either lmao (Yoshi's shield and jump properties are unique to him)
They knew about his armor, set knockback, and some odd specifics like falco's shine doing enough knockback to break armor, but they didn't know yoshi had a sidestep.
It’s so funny to watch this and listen to the commentary now that Amsa’s won the big house. Kind of sums up his career, everyone doubting Yoshi and Amsa proving them wrong. And this tournament was right after MLG, where he was repeatedly reverse 3-0’d. His perseverance is unmatched
***** Just saying, you learn something new every day. Even for an over 10 year old game. Everyone was nay saying the Yoshi, but to wreck a veteran on their preferred stage. "new guy aMSa has more dedication wtih a low tier character than the vet M2K with his high tiers" doesn't do it enough justice. I'm telling you guys, Yoshi should be taken more seriously from now on.
***** Whenever somebody says a character has potential, we say "Prove It". Tiers aren't about theorycrafting primarily. It's results. Yoshi's upwards potential is definitely higher than we used to think and he may change position.
I believe people are too in love with m2k that they forget that there are other players as good as he is. The commentators started saying "nah" as in amsa couldn't do it then they changed the way they judged the fight. People should stop idolizing top tier players... They are not gods, they are just players. Seriously.
John De Jesus The only players that are as consistent, and as good as m2k are Armada, Mang0, PPMD, and Hbox. Those are literally the only players as good as M2k or better. I hate to say it, but although aMSa is very amazing, the match-up knowledge his opponents don't have -really- helps him.
To think this set started the path to a long journey for amsa to finally win a major, first one ever for yoshi as well 8 years apart, 10 years of grinding Amsa is amazing man
Even so. I can see why. aMSa is hype. Also I'm 100% sure that GimR also wanted this up ASAP to brag about his choices with sponsorships. No shots fired. Just giving my honest opinion.
My favorite smash player of all time is M2K. I Fell in love with Amsa with this set and have rooted for him at every tournament since. Amsa finally won a super major with TBH10. Congrats to Amsa!
Rooting for aMSa=Trash Talk? I know Mew2King legit can't take the crowd against him, and thats part of any competitive game so he really doesn't get a pass, but we can't discredit aMSa great playing.
IT's a shame, but he's still one of, if not the best, players in the game. He's just plain stupidly good. watching him struggle is like watching a god fall. It's exhilarating.
WHAT IS LIFE? Most hype match of the year, in my opinion, thus far. aMSa's shaking up everyone's understanding of the game, and its players. I love watching him play!
This was such a wild year for him. In the span of 6 months he went from no one thinking he'd take a game from M2K, to placing 5th at Apex 2015 and being one stock from knocking off Mango And of course now he's the champion of Big House 10, what a ride
aMSa is my new inspiration next to Armada. Like, I fought M2K and some people thought I wouldn't even take a stock off of him, but I did. The commentators are over here saying that he won't even take a game off of M2K and boom. Takes the whole set with a low tier character on M2K's stage. I'm an inspired Yoshi player from aMSa!
It's really not so much about him taking the tournament or not, it's about how much he's singlehandedly taken a character considered to be one of the WORST in the game and brought him into the competitive spotlight. And on top of that, when you consider that Yoshi is by no means a top tier character, it really brings into perspective just how far above everyone else aMSa must be. That's like Mango beating M2K with Pichu. It just showcases how much skill he has.
***** mango got into Amsa's head. when amsa went into his egg, mango stopped approaching, and that's what threw off amsa's game, and mango was like "nuh bro, i ain't approaching, you approach me." I dont think amsa was ready for that
+Jarren Benin OMG dude that has to be one of the most funniest things Iv'e seen all day. The fact you have no replies suprises me. 0:18 "I love aMSa but can you see him taking a match"?
I can do one better, I can see him taking a supermajor
Bruh LOL IM WATCHING THIS 1 YR AFTER IT WAS MADE AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE MY EYES!
Crazy how Scar commentated this set and Big House 10 grand final.
Shoutouts to that noided announcer in the Death Grips tee
HYUGH
I love these matches. Saying a F you to the established tier so much, that it needs to be changed is so satisfying. It's history in the making.
Derek Quin who fault its that
To think this set started the path to a long journey for amsa to finally win a major, first one ever for yoshi as well
8 years apart, 10 years of grinding
Amsa is amazing man
I love how this is the first KoC4 video uploaded on the channel.
Not counting the promo videos.
aMSa is sponsored by VGBC. I do understand why.
Even so. I can see why. aMSa is hype. Also I'm 100% sure that GimR also wanted this up ASAP to brag about his choices with sponsorships. No shots fired. Just giving my honest opinion.
More than 10 years since this legendary set. Thanks for getting me into Melee and competitive Smash as a whole
aMSa with the most viewed video on this channel
Dam didnt know that
7:05 That use of the double jump armor was so smart and nobody saw it :o
Rad Penny As a yoshi player, my instinct told me that. You gotta be right dude, fastest doublejump ever holy hell!
Funnily enough, now this is not the first time that the crowd has cheered “stack it up” for amsa
This video is now a sacred pilgrimage site for all aMSa fans.
20EggsEggs is real
+Aries raemillena ayy lmao
I lost it
+raemillena 20XEggs
I love the crowd reactions where Amsa does some crazy Yoshi trick they've never seen before.
My favorite smash player of all time is M2K. I Fell in love with Amsa with this set and have rooted for him at every tournament since. Amsa finally won a super major with TBH10. Congrats to Amsa!
the commentary takes on yoshi and amsa have aged like the finest milk.
I think the real miracle here is that Mew2King didn't give a limp hand shake after the match.
aMSa gets a jab
Crowd : OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH
Jab reset
Noel Gagante your lack of knowledge is amazing
+Legend of the Emblem thanks for getting the joke
Noel Gagante your lack of knowledge aMSaing
+Legend of the Emblem Your lack of understanding jokes is amazing
I'm here back from watching his first major win to revisit where his world path started.
This been a long arc guys, a japanese classic story no doubt.
Can you see him taking a game now, Bobby?
And now he’s won a major lets fucking go amsa
Mew2king was heavily affected by crowd trash talk against him during this.
*babies crying*
I though so too but not just with mew2king last night the crowd wouldnt shut up and at other events there wasnt talking and mew2king was 2nd place
BlissfulMurder exactly! it doesnt matter how good of the game you are, if u cant take an audience u cantwin the game gg baby
I clicked on this randomly and it ended up being one of the best sets ive ever seen
WHAT IS LIFE?
Most hype match of the year, in my opinion, thus far.
aMSa's shaking up everyone's understanding of the game, and its players.
I love watching him play!
8 years later and Amsa brought home the pathway to 20-eggs-eggs.
This was such a wild year for him. In the span of 6 months he went from no one thinking he'd take a game from M2K, to placing 5th at Apex 2015 and being one stock from knocking off Mango
And of course now he's the champion of Big House 10, what a ride
Scar setting the scene for this made me love smash so many years ago
The way Scar and MDZ set up the "story" of this set early on really elevates the set. This would be a great one to show a Smash newcomer!
It's actually Lovage sporting an MDZ haircut.
If 20EggsEggs doesn't become a shirt, I swear to God...
I get it
and bro won it all 8 years later, what a goat
Amsa's going to become king of the pirates. Confirmed.
Nah luffy's got that taken
Kirk Graham Amsa for next straw-hat crew member
Fuck that aMSa is gonna be the next shrek
joujouman300 shrek is love... shrek is life
this is the set that made me an amsa fan. riding the nostalgia wave after he finally won a supermajor. melee is so hype.
aMSa is my new inspiration next to Armada. Like, I fought M2K and some people thought I wouldn't even take a stock off of him, but I did. The commentators are over here saying that he won't even take a game off of M2K and boom. Takes the whole set with a low tier character on M2K's stage. I'm an inspired Yoshi player from aMSa!
Not anyone can take astock off m2k. Who did you play?
+Jacob Harms I used Yoshi. I spiked him game 1 and had a stock lead in game 2.
As a Yoshi player, this brought a tear to my fucking eye! XD
+BlackWingedSeraph I guess that means fox players have depression, the most dedicated being suicidal.
BenSW yelling extremely loud > increasingly large dominoes > aMSa wins big house
I don't even know how many times I've watched this set.
I was supposed to be playing melee, but this one red yoshi keeps kicking my ass.
spyfox260
Is it the Amsa27?
amsa wins the big house 10
:') This is why we love you aMSa.
then he lost to mango and lucky
It's really not so much about him taking the tournament or not, it's about how much he's singlehandedly taken a character considered to be one of the WORST in the game and brought him into the competitive spotlight. And on top of that, when you consider that Yoshi is by no means a top tier character, it really brings into perspective just how far above everyone else aMSa must be. That's like Mango beating M2K with Pichu. It just showcases how much skill he has.
*****
mango got into Amsa's head. when amsa went into his egg, mango stopped approaching, and that's what threw off amsa's game, and mango was like "nuh bro, i ain't approaching, you approach me." I dont think amsa was ready for that
p1ay6ack Yeah, that was pretty awesome of mango. Honestly, amsa and mango are my favorite competitive smashers.
11:44 one of the best recoveries with Zelda/Sheik I have ever seen, even in modern day Melee.
15:07 Scar transforms into Yoshi
+Jarren Benin OMG dude that has to be one of the most funniest things Iv'e seen all day. The fact you have no replies suprises me. I'm saving your comment as a pic, downloading this video, making a gif out of it, and potentially using it in a future video of mine. How you even found that out is crazy! XD
Hahaha fuck
I can't count how many times I've watched this set. It still gets my hype af.
Lol the announcer with the Death Grips shirt. I have the same one.
Greatest performance in SSB history. Idc what anyone says, that was exciting, fun and badass at the same time. Exactly what Smash is supposed to be all about.
this is where it all started, congrats amsa
dat transform into a sheik wall jump wow.
and aMSa just seems to love the game and has fun, good for him
2000 IQ play right there
Almost a year later, I still cannot believe this set. aMSa is mind blowing.
Congrats amsa. Bloody legend, so much more melee to be played.
I love the commentary in this because it's such a great narrative--this video is so great because it's a story
