I have to say… I tried making fences before I found your video and I got so frustrated. This morning, a new day, I watched your video and had my fence set up in a matter of minutes! Thank you sooo much!
Every dog and situation is so very different. I used the training videos but they are not really geared towards dogs that are strictly outdoors. I had to adapt and find my own variations. I am not an experienced dog trainer so this may have contributed to the length of time it required, however I was quite committed and determined to make it work. I have a Great Pyrenees on 8 acres. Due to the breed being very independent thinkers, roamers and instinctual protectors, completely unmotivated by treats or toys and the size of my property- it was Soooo challenging to train her. I worked with her everyday rain, shine, sleet or snow. It has been 3 months now since she left our property. So almost 11 months before the Halo was effective with her. However I added a second Great Pyrenees dog in September (about 8 months into training), never bought her a collar (she has simple GPS for location purposes only) and my older dog literally guides and corrects the younger dog. It is astounding to watch. The younger dog has never breeched the boundaries since we brought her to the farm.
I’m glad I found your videos. I’ve been spinning my wheels frustrated with indoor beacon training. Decided I’m going to try your approach instead, it makes more sense to me.
We just ordered the collar and it is desperately needed for our very energetic dog. Hopefully it will be as successful as yours. We are totally committed to this training. More later…..
Yes!!! I too am very intimidated by all the directions in the app! Wondering, is it necessary to do the indoor Beacon training? Or, can I go straight to what you did here in the video?
@@debfrazier3899 that’s personalized for your dog … you should always start with the lowest setting and move it up to get their attention. My dog is a 5 but you have to find what works for them.
How do you train your dog when the collar go off while she is in the fenced area. You see, I have trained her well on the boundaries so now when it goes off in the fenced area. She does circles not knowing which way to go. I have been back and forth with there engineers, tried different gps settings as they suggested, and it will seem to be working for a day or two and then it does it again. Do you think this can mentally miss your precious baby
I get your theory … but Actually No - I would say you could use it as a “recall” button and it’s a good fit for that. - however calling it a regular training collar you are not going to have the immediacy and consistently to your pet for clear communication. Mainly because you have to 1. find the app on your phone 2 load the app 3. Locate your dog and then send the signal - gps can be strong or there might be a delay
@@KarmaDogSpeak I would like to see your review of the Halo 4. I am very interested in a GPS collar but ideally would like one I could also use similar to a regular E-Collar.
Would it be helpful to use flags along the border as a visual cue in the beginning or do you think it’s not necessary? I haven’t purchased yet but desperately need a solution.
Yo when the video started i was thinking to myself imagine if the collar was shocking the shit out of the dog in the background lol hopefully not but ive heard halo collars tend to shock randomly even if not next to the edge
What happens if my dog runs full speed after a rabbit and literally can't stop in time....if she goes beyond the other side of the fence boundary, is she now "10 feet away from the line" and therefore safely on the wrong side?
Great question since she’s in the last zone (if not past) it just stays in tracking mode (meaning the other alerts may not go off) … out of all the variables dogs are the wildcard
+Keira Hanmer every dog is different Vivi took about 4 days to get to the fence portion of training … when we did the fence it was about a week - but monitored for about 4-6 weeks.

Vickie that just made my day. 🙏

Nice to hear Liz let me know if I can help at all.

Thank you and also that's a sweet ninja setup! We have one too.

It’s all up to you … but many skip over beacon training and train like you would for a wired invisible fence
Ok, this feels manageable. So so you have a suggestion for the levels of the alerts?

Thank-you so much for this video. The beacon training is a joke. It's hit and miss at best. I love the idea of the manual prevention!

Omg. The bacon!!!
So in theory..... You could use this colar in the same way as just a regular e-collar?

So you are triggering the sound, or is it because you have set up the boundaries?
I like to have consistent control during training so it’s me pressing it in that video.

No she’s just silly.
Can you create a no-go area within a fence? For example, if I create a fence around my whole yard can I then create a no-go area around my garden?
Actually - yes you can! There are outdoor pucks called … beacons (made for outdoors) that you can place into a specific area like a garden!

where in the app is the manual turn on?
HM... Jennie - it's just on (although you can toggle on and off feedback settings)
