It's an illusion.
Love this collar, it's not a shock collar at all, and you can set the level of static really low. I have it on level four and it's like taking clothes out of the dryer. But my dog doesn't even need that correction, the other corrections always work fine. I just have it set if she goes way off the boundary close to the road. Anyway, I'm happy with this product! The static correction is totally optional, you can turn it off.

You'll be very fortunate if your pet stays withing those boundaries. This tech is glitchy and the collars are cheaply made and break easily.

I’ve been having a love and hate relationship with Halo for two years. 😢
I absolutely love it when it works, but the drifting gps drives me crazy. My dog, a standard poodle, learned the collar in a day, and quickly learned the fence limits. But the collar repeatedly gives him wrong feedback because it pings inaccurately. In other words, the dog is inside the fence but the gps pings him as being outside and he gets the warning or emergency feedbacks. It’s confusing and unfair to him. I have to watch the app carefully when I let him out, and most of the time I have to turn the fence off immediately, which defeats its purpose. And I can’t let the petsitter use the fence when I’m away because of its unreliability. In addition, the portability (which is a great feature of Halo) in nonexistent with incorrect location.
I’ve done all possible troubleshooting with the company, but nothing seems to resolve the problem.
I am currently using the collar mostly for the recall whistle -something any whistle can do, and to remind him not to bark at people on the street (using “hey” when I hear his barking).
I really want to love it. It would be absolutely perfect if the geolocation didn’t drift so frequently and unpredictably as it does.
I just got a Halo collar for my dog, and i wonder if i can make a fence from one corner of my property line to the yard around and end it on the other corner of my house without connecting the dots so my dog can freely walk around inside the house without being afraid of the buzzing

Unfortunately I will not pay an over $400 upgrade fee from my useless Halo2 collar to see if this will work in my area. Halo2 has been nothing more than a tracking collar for me because your GPS fences stink and improperly punish my dog. Giving him warnings when laying on my porch. Do you know I could have gotten a much better tracking collar for a lot less than what I paid for the Halo2? Not to mention my 1st Halo2 was defective in less than 6 months and I had to have it replaced.

Had the same experience and tried reaching out to Halo. It took 45 minutes to get someone on the phone. Terrible customer support. Chintzy quality and glitchy tech. My dog was in his kennel getting corrections while the fence boundary was easily 50 ft away.
