Just want to make a quick note about Distortion Detective. As of right now it's incomplete, while it was gonna be a book or web novel, it got popular enough that Project Moon decided to make it into a visual novel instead. When that's gonna happen, we still don't know.

this is the difference between the manifestation of E.G.O's, distortions, and corrosion.
Distortion happens when one is in a state of strong emotional conflict this can either be guilt,stress,anger, or anything that can put you in peer pressure. Distortions will only happens when they let their emotions take over them.
E.G.O's on the other hand isn't really a "willpower" sort of thing. It mostly happens when you reject "her" voice and "realize" the path one must follow despite the peer pressure holding you.
Corrosions is albeit a new thing but from my understanding. It is basically losing rationality and getting devoured by the E.G.O equipped(Only abnormality ego's)
Well put, the way I view corrosion is basically if an Agent from the first game were to put on EGO without the right stats, Corrosion is what would occur, hence the stat requirement.

The pm rp community had found the different category of transformation made by the light. There's the distortions, the EGO, the imperfect EGO and the imperfect distortions. The imperfect ego and distortions are Philip and tomerry respectively, these are transformations made through letting others change you, for Philip it was him not knowing his path yet, and still going to the library albeit knowing he was selfish, while for tomerry it was being emotionally changed by their environment and the Rev gang.
Perfect ego and distortion are xiao's ego and the Rev gang respectively. Both have understood their selves their desires and their sins. Allowing a transformation. The only different between both being the permanency and the means of the transformation. Perfect distortions are permanently this way and can only go worse as the person hates their old self and give in to their ego. Perfect ego however are temporary and can be turned off, the person having understood their own person and accepting it instead of rejecting it.
The path is basically a tree, either going distortion or imperfect ego, then evolving into perfect ego or perfect distortions.
yeah the corrosion thing is shown near the end of Wonder Lab; the characters put on EGO equipment they don't have the stats for and basically start mutating into the abnormality in question. It's implied that it's fine as long as they take off the equipment soon enough, in Limbus Company Dante just straight up says the corrosion EGOs kill the sinners a lot and it's especially painful/distressing to revive them from it.
In this way, corrosion is more dependant on willpower than the E.G.O itself. Imho, i think that distortions are created through the utter corrosion of one's own E.G.O.
I wonder if it wpuld, in the future, be possible for someone using another's e.g.o to corrode..
Um actually, Philip didn’t run away 4 times, he got teleported against his will once. 🤓 (My man Philip deserve more credit).
He does deserve more credit honestly, he was the first person in the game to begin the process of summoning E.G.O. and if the teleport hadn't happened he very well might have succeeded.

THIS! This is one of the best pre-game explanations in my opinion. It doesn't go too deep, leaving out all the unnecessary terms and small events, and focuses on the important things instead. It gives you basics so you could understand what is going on and dive straight into the game. And it's also funny. It's perfect. Thank you! Gonna send this video to all my friends who are new to Limbus Company because MY GOD it is kinda difficult to make them pay attention to the story at first, with all the lore and terms and everything (it doesn't help that they're skeptical about story in gacha games 💀).

@@L16htW4rr10r It's a reference to the literature that Outis is based on, The Odyssey, where it follows the story of Odysseus as he tries to make his way home from the Trojan War, one the with the big wooden horse. It's just a reference to that.
Also, sometime during that story, he takes the name Outis, which means Nobody, to fool someone and hide his identity.

It isn't, solely because Offices are specifically for Fixers, whereas the Sinners and the other teams within Limbus Company work solely towards attaining boughs.
They're closer to a Corporation, but they aren't quite there as they lack both the size and a Singularity. So they're just kind of in a grey zone right now.

My running theory is that limbus company is trying to be the next L corp
