Its a corporate dystopia where the poor live struggling to claw out of hell and the fortunate, living in Nests, live to climb up the ranks of machine exploiting them all the same. Carmen was a woman who saw that things are wrong - not with system but with people. She called it "disease of the mind", vague affliction in which most of people lived like zombies, devoid of dream. She wanted humans to be able to express their hidden emotions and draw strength from it. So she and the guy who would later found Lobotomy Corporation tried to come up with sollution. In the process, they invented a drug able to manifest human mental into the physical world. However the only person willing to test it, a small boy, ended up dying in absolute agony instead. Carmen could not bear guilt and game overed herself. The owner of future LobCorp preserved her neural system keeping alive just to complete her dream. In process of Lobotomy Corporation, you cultivate and power up "Light" that in the end of the games beams over the City, planting in people hope and will to grow as a person. That seed is meant to allow people to manifest EGO, a physical form of their self, using their emotions to be stronger. However, there is thin line. If emotions are amplified too much, instead of acknowledging them and responding to one's heart, a person might instead crumble and buckle under their weight. Instead of becoming a weapon, emotion overrides person's very self, twisting their physical form. That is what we call Distorting. Now, the lore is that at the end of the first game, what was left of Carmen's consciousness merged into Light. It's implied she speaks to people at the verge of breakdown, encouraging them to embrace their emotion and let them out. Usually, those lead to Distortions, consuming them in process, but on multiple occasions, people deny her, seeing clear what they truly are and what they truly need, forging EGO instead.

I am convinced that Sloshmael is probably a reference to the scene from Moby Dick (the book Ishmael is based off of) where a character falls into the corpse of a whale being butchered and gets covered in its bodily fluids.

Nanomachine Hong Lu is widely considered one of the best tanks in game, and if played right, can solo if he wanted to. Fun Fact: Yi Sang is even more punchable then you'd think. His name has plenty of other meanings in Korean, so whenever be gets the chance, he tries putting his own name in sentences as wordplay.

I regret to inform you that sloshmael is considered to be one of the worst identities in the game, to the point of being actively detrimental to her team archetype. Fret not, however, for most of her other identities are downright broken.
I find people to genuinely be funny when they describe this game. They bring up points about how it’s "not like other gacha games" when really, gacha games aren’t what the story is or the tropes used, it’s the monetary side of it. Limbus is an absolute cashgrab and will always be especially since they made the gaining of egocrates only being in the limbus pass. Want a really good identity? Better start grinding the shit out of mirror dungeons for the limbus battle pass and for that 200 lunacy for each mirror dungeon! Which equals up to around 3 hours (and more) of your time to get the weekend benefits (which drain away quickly). And even then, you don’t have the chance for 10 pulls unless you had the proper amount of lunacy prior to the mirror dungeon. And by God, don’t get me started on the energy system. Fucking hell, any game that implements an energy system should rot. It’s the worst thing to exist and it just limits the fun of Limbus and the ability to actually even grind shit to progress. The uptie system is also innately a flawed one as well. While yes, there should be progression with a character in order to unlock better potential, I think that should’ve just been leveling up. The only way to gain threads is doing the thread lux or gaining an egoshard and converting it. I highly doubt anyone’s grinding away for 6 thread per lux and it also just ruins the progress of egoshard collecting. Uptie 4 is also just another shitty element ripped off from other gacha games, it’s just something there to grind away for and waste time on it to make your sinners just a little bit better, having a bullshit requirements of egoshard and thread. And how could I forget? The most important, cash graby, greedy, money eating part! The extraction system. Want that real good identity, throw your hard earned 1300 lunacy for 9 0’s and that one 00 you already have! Go through the process of grinding all over again to experience this constantly till you finally get a 000 you don’t even give a shit about. Simply, Library of Ruina was peak and we need to go back to it. Only good thing Limbus has going for it is just the story.
Uh… I like the progression? The energy system isn’t too restrictive in my experience but it would be nice if we got a discount or free pass to previously cleared story stages. The game is pretty generous with shards for the character you want and although I agree that the md grind can get bad it’s just something that I’ve accepted. I feel like a live service game is something that a lot of people enjoy because. 1. The games generally end up with a lot more content 2. The feeling of growing alongside the game is really nice 3. The game is “simpler” that other games in the series (which is fine) and might get more people into the series as a whole I agree that some aspects are bad, but overall I think limbus does a lot of right where other gacha games wouldn’t care at all. I personally hope that limbus will continue for a long time and p moon will work on other games to be released along side limbuses continued existence.
I dont think you have to grind your arses off for good ID, unless you are so easily convinced that you cant play game without having the selected few meta units. I've not paid for lunacy once and the only units i grind for are Heathcliff ids just because i adore him so much i want to max out every single one. Even though i mainly use Shi- or Ncorp- cliff, not regarded as "best" and yet my favourite in teams i build. You need not to farm and more than enough people proved you can beat story with default IDs. And combat,whilst somewhat simplified from ruina, still puts in tasty status management and reintroduces sanity which im hoping to see developed on in future.
“the gaining of egocrates only being in battle pass” you gain one per level even if you don’t have the pass, you should be able to get 80~ just from extra levels alone, if we count the crates we get from the free bp levels, it’s easily in the 150s I do agree that ut4 cost is way too high, but most units are perfectly useable at ut3, they may not be as good as their upgraded counterparts but still more than enough to clear mirror dungeons enkephalin system, if it didn’t exist, what would stop players from grinding mirror dungeons and buy everything from the store? they lose a shit ton of money this way. you don’t NEED to spend 3 hours per day, you can split that time between the week, and people mostly grind dungeons for exp, instead of lunacy which is just a kinda nice bonus
Sorry but Lobotomy Corp is not optional. You also have to read Wonderlab, Distortion Detective, Leviathan, every single literary work/religious text that Project Moon took inspiration from, and also buy all the merchandise Project Moon has ever sold to be a real fan.
