Played this game a lot as a kid, sitting on the ground legs crossed hunched over the bongos because I thought I looked like a monkey while doing it and wanted to he immersed. Played it for hours at a time. I can confidently say 2 things about this game: It's an underrated gem beyond the gimmick, and my spine is irreparably destroyed from the aforementioned hunching.
I've always enjoyed Nintendo's development of quirky or unusual hardware. One can always beat consoles in pure specs with a PC, and that will probably always be the case, but unique console hardware is different. I have a greater reason to get a Switch, Wii, or the DK bongos than a more standard console or controller because they allow for unique games and experiences that I couldn't have just had on the PC. _(Edit: I'm no PC supremacist or what have you, even if this comment made me slightly sound like it. Play on whatever you like. This is just my view on the matter.)_

for people who didn't had time or money or were just too young to buy a crappy PSP many years ago I will explain what I mean in my comment, there was a funny little cartoon rhythm game about black eyeballs with spears, bows and shields taking over continents in search of some holy land called Patapons, in that game you commanded your troops by playing some sick beats on drums and because the main focus of this video is a controller that's a drum I just had to say this
