Finding a sporadic short on a Caterpillar C7 Ford F750

- A truck came in with a Ford F750 Caterpillar C7 diesel that had an intermittent loss of throttle pedal. In this video I hook up a laptop to the truck and get some clues about what the issue is.

Cat c7 story time. Friend works at shop south of me, had a c7 in a f750, hard start low fuel pressure, put a new low pressure pump. No start now. I have a laptop with software hooked up and everything looked perfect except, 5psi fuel pres, 0psi engine oil and 210 deg coolant. Hand prime to 40psi, no go, unplug oil pressure to trick it to 80psi, no go. Pop valve cover all Inj chatter. Unplug coolant sender on a whim, bam fires up and runs perfect. Plug it in and it dies unplug and runs perfect... Best we figure is internal short sensor. That's all I got. Software kinda saves the day

I've seen plenty of tow trucks towing tow trucks... Ironic and funny.
@@HouseCallAutoRepair i had a tow truck pick up a car and then die.. so the tow company sent a bigger tow truck.. as the driver of the bigger tow truck went out the driveway at a angle the jump start socket wiring got pinched between the lower grill trim and the top of the bumper and caught fire. so an even bigger tow truck hauled away the mid size tow truck and the small size tow truck and the customers car... i wish i had a camera back then..

The diesel laptop is a very good tool to have in your business
You need some electrical/electronics silicone to put on the wires of modules like that when you replace them,that will stop the vibration from breaking the wires where they go into the modules. A company like Farnells is where to go for such stuff.
