@@melissaholmes6131 The 6.4 wasn’t really fords fault. They were bound by contract to buy engines from international/Navistar. That’s why if you look at a 6.0 or 6.4 valve cover you see the Navistar plate and not a ford plate. With the 6.7 being a true ford design they have proven that they can make a reliable diesel. The 6.4 is basically a International MaxxForce 7, witch is equally junk. Ford actually never paid Navistar for the 6.4 because of all the warranty claims they had to do on these trucks. There were some f-450’s that had 3 and 4 engines put in under warranty because they simply blew up from being used in the HD applications. International/Navistar actually has had several class action lawsuits brought against them for knowingly selling bad engines, the most notable case being the MaxxForce 13 in their medium and heavy duty trucks. They paid out 135 million dollars from that lawsuit. So, long story made short is that Navistar knew the gig was about to be up with Ford. They knew that ford was getting ready to dump them and make their own engine, so they gave them and engine that would make lots of power and sell trucks.
