Hey, I suggest moisturizing your locs more often. Wet them with water every other day and try a water based leave in conditioner that’s not too heavy. A water based leave in will be better because it won’t weigh your locs down or give your hair too much product build up.
Hey, I think the loc thinning could be from an iron/vitamin deficiency. I’ve been experiencing this as well throughout my postpartum journey and have had several of my locs fall out around my perimeter especially around my temple area.
I'm thinking this could happen with locs started on twists or coils too, and not just crochet instant locs. Because if it was due to you starting with instant locs, I think the breakage will be further down the loc, in an area that was part of the original starter journey. This looks like breakage closer to the root, a section of newer hair growth which wasnt there at the beginning of your instant loc journey. So perhaps its more related to the sizing of the parts/locs around the permiter. This is my best guess, but I only just started my loc journey two months ago, so really, what do i know 🤷😅 Long story short, don't feel bad that it's because you started with instant locs, because ive seen lots of videos where this has happened on different starter methods. Your hair is still gorgeous, and I hope you're able to conclusively identify the root cause of the problem soon.
It looks REALLY beautiful because you have a lot of new growth. No scalp showing😊
i have instant locs over a year and they still stiff what can i do
