Omg…Thank you for explaining the “Expansion & Contraction phase”! I have 2a/2b hair texture and I’ve been loc’d for 10 months and absolutely NO ONE could explain why my hair kept looping and bunching. I actually got worried and combed a few of them out however I did find a loctician who knew how to two strand my hair tight enough to manage the bunching. It has definitely been a journey thus far but I’m super happy I did it and will never going back to straight hair.
You have such a gift for clear explanation of what you’re talking about and showing it. Your content and the way you deliver it is priceless. One of the most beautiful things about locks is how unique they are to each person. Your hair looks AMAZING. perfect with all the “imperfections” you point out.❤
Thanks for coming out with this video! Im goin to start dread locking my hair one day and this helps me with my beginner tips and tricks. Most def saving this one in my playlist
It's fun to compare pur progress as we started at the same time. My locs are more mature as I have a much tighter curl pattern but your growth is CRAZY.
Thank you for this video! I’m all set! Excellent video. And your hair is amazing! I have hair like a cotton ball. Frizzy, thick and fine all at once. Haha.. Blessings to you!
His dreads is too skinny he may as well have sisterlocs yeh lol his first set if you go back to his old videos was better!!! And thas a god damn fact!. This is what happens when you strive for perfection...and start your loc journey over too many times
Nope❗I don't like them either as a personal preference. Most of mine are as thick as, if not a lil smaller than, my pointer finger.. Although I do like the way sister/micro locks look but those and traditional skinny locks are just too much work and way too many locks for me. His locks look over manipulated.
I went to joan fabric found a crochet vid and i liked the grab a medium section and lock them on each side with a slight wide almost where i could roll it straight and its nice when longes to shortest rn is like 5in-
Yeah his look like he twisted too small. And it looks like when you twist in different directions. This is not what’s supposed to happen. Always twist clockwise. My mother has this hair texture and her locs look good.
Tbh his are just really thin I just seen someone with good instant locs & usually I hate them they look like grinch fingers😂 just need the right person to do it
Dude thank you so much I thought I was doing something wrong when doing the locks cause I was doing different methods on my bfs hair but this made it easier its like crocheting something
This is the 1st insight I've had to the process, you have a seriously cool channel man, thanks for the education, its nice to see the real journey for someone. I'm just wondering, when you 1dt starter your locks, did you go to a place to get started or did you just take your time at home?
ThNk you so much for showing me how to Loc my dread in slow motion…. But I need to know how to use the Loc tool that I will not have all these stab wounds 🤕 man it hurts
Hey @Gunther I see you have a lot of locs meaning you have small sections in the base. I'm also thinking of separating around 10 of my dreads which have bigger sections, into smaller sections. Now I wanna ask if the small sections will compromise in long term (like more than 4-5 years). Will there be loc thinning, have to combine locs, or anything like that? Please let me know, thanks. 😊
What’s ur hair type, if it’s type 4 u should be able to seperate them with no long term issues as long as you take care of them, if it’s type 3 though you may experience some issues especially if you try make the locs smaller than your curl pattern
Nvm, u said u have 2b to 2c so it’s probably best that u don’t try do anything to ur locs especially if they’ve been loced for a while, u shouldn’t worry about thinning or seperation as those things really only effect 3c and above
Hey I had my dreads since 2018 and there are a couple questions I want to ask. The first one is that I was wondering if I can bring back my hairline, meaning I have the top of my head fully dread up to my hair Line, and I want to know if I need to cut those locs or could I combine the locs some how? Thes seond is that it seems like some of my loc that started thick are thinning, And I have to combind them. wht should I do to prevent my other loss from the same fate?
I’m doing semi free form I have mini dreads growing from my new growth, my locs are like chin length does anyone know what’s going on 🤣 help please ?? I’m like a year and a few months locked in
Your hair grows away from your loc. u would need to reincorporate the hair back into the loc by either braiding the new growth around the nearest loc or crochet it. Same happens with mine
I would say start twisting with a sponge and where a cap like a durag and be consistent with twisting for instance like twist for 5 minutes when you wake up and 5 minutes before you go to bed and you gotta have patience ( hope this helped)
Does anyone else have curly hair that dreads by itself… or is it just me 💀 Cause I’m not really into getting dreads tbh and no matter how many times I detangle… in about a couple of days, my 3c strands start locking by themselves soon as I moisturize it and I might just give up on detangling at this point 😶 also nice vid as usual from the man himself 🤟
I'm a white boi with c2 hair type. Anything over 6 inches of hair locks the tips. I need to do this to prevent mating. I plan on donating hair so I grew it and was forced into dreadlocks.
Hey @everyone greetings from India 💛 As for now I'm confused and I've got a question. So my hair type is around 2b-2c and my locs are around 6 months old as of now. I started my locs when my hairs were around 5 inches long and used crochet hook to make them dreads. Now recently I've been facing one problem, that is, my new growth is going all frizz and even if i use crochet hook on the roots, all the frizz comes backwithin like couple hours. Now I know frizz is common thing but my hairs are always MORE frizzy than the normal frizz.....I think my new growth goes away from my locs. Any suggestions on what should I do?
@@Dred2x most definitely section and part i usually get people to section and two strand my hair after that i just get to crocheting get the one with 3 needles it helps and makes it super fast

It's called type 3 hair, not mixed hair.... And any race or ethnicity could have type 3 hair...
Bob Marley was mixed
Can you go from mature interlocks to maintaining with crochet hook?
Do you always rotate in the same direction or do you change direcrions

I am mixed but my hair is very nappy. Imo crotchet is by far the best method, yes it works on straight hair but it also works VERY good on afro hair.
