"BOING!" Great reaction. The extra dancers were called SisterBones. You probably already know or have been told most of this ... that won't stop me mwahahaha.
'4 No Uta' (or Song of 4) is great fun. There are several puns and plays on words that we just don't get and they are really what the song is about.
There are two counting systems in Japan - 4 is yon in one of them, it is shi in the other. Shi also means 'to die' or death and as a result 4 (shi) is considered unlucky and it is avoided - as you said, much like 13 in the west (but possibly more so).
What they were doing (apart from giving us lessons in counting) was listing words that also contain 'shi' (eg Bitamin no shi - vitamin C) and saying they don't mean to die, so neither does 4 and it is just a silly superstition.
The choreo was also quite clever - apart from holding up 4 fingers they were making the figure 4 with their arms and with their legs at various points and in end poses etc. Also holding their fingers to their lips like we would to say "shhh" - in Japan shhh is ... "shi".
Full writing credits for '4 No Uta' (lyrics and music - not the arrangement) are given to Black BABYMETAL (Yui and Moa). They were challenged by Su to write a song about the number 4 while on the tour bus in Singapore when they were 12. They then drove the staff mad running round singing it non stop, so much so the staff complained about them. So of course Koba turned it into a song for Black BABYMETAL.
What is great about this song/performance, is that Yui and Moa write the lyrics and music (not arrangement) while on the tour bus after Suzuka suggested the topic.
And the lyrics are full of Japanese puns and the performance is full of 4, standing in the shape of 4, putting up their hands above their heads with 4 and performing things in sets of 4x4, etc. The music has 4 beats, etc.

_Yon Yon!_
Welcome back to the Foxhole 🦊🤘🔥
Another Black Babymetal song and 1 more to go.
MoiMoi (Moa + Yui) coming back with their own exclusive song and kawaii overload.
4 No Uta (or "Song 4") is another Black Babymetal song and is a challenge to our girls and giving another social reform message, this time trying to stop with the superstition around the number 4.👀
"4" got two ways of pronounce in Japanese, _shi_ is the right way, but that word is also similar to "die", that's why they use _yon,_ the other way, 4 or "shi" is associated with bad luck, similar to number 13 for some westerners. Our girls here are trying to teaching us in a funny song and choreo that the _shi_ isn't always related to bad things.
Always love that reggae breakdown reaction, unexpected, especially over that Metallica - Master Of Puppets riffs, so cool.
Oh btw this song got the credits over YuiMetal and MoaMetal. Until "Divine Attack- Shingeki" with SuMetal lyrics credits last year, this was the only song with them on the credits, the funny story is while traveling on the bus at live tour in Singapore, SuMetal challenge the girls to do a song with this theme, they were singing this all the time that even the stuff members got stuck with that in their head, the rest is story, is a super engaging song with great crowd participation and who don't wanna do that with our lovely girls? Of course this song was one of the girls favorites back then.
Another great live at Budokan 2014 version and once again with the help of sister-bones.
This also got a MoaMetal solo version live at Legend S 2017, that was the sudden first live concert without YuiMetal.
There's also another unique version called Song 4 (444 Ver.) with lines from the girls in the reggae section.
Finally, you're very much welcome to celebrate unofficially Yon Yon Day (April 4) every year after official Fox Day (April 1). Yon Yon!
See you next time and kitsune up 🦊🤘🔥

Official song credits: Lyrics: BLACK BABYMETAL (Yui and Moa) / Music: BLACK BABYMETAL / Arrangment: tatsuo (Tatsuo Kinno) and KxBxMETAL (Kei Kobayashi).
Yui and Moa made up this song during the Singapore 2013 tour, and repeated it over and over again to the point that staff complained.
So Koba had it arranged and added to the setlist and the first album. : )
Su suggested the theme of "4" as a challenge to Yui and Moa after they successfully made up songs on the themes of "banana" and "wood".
I don't know how the Japanese music industry is set up, but I like the idea that Yui and Moa get royalties whenever this song is broadcast, etc.
There are some very cute touches in the choreography where they form the shape of the number four with their arms and legs.
i now want to hear the songs wood and banana.
@@sonz9357 That would be great.
And Moa has mentioned writing a song about chicken. : )
Great reaction, thanks!
And always YES to more BABYMETAL. 😁
Here we have Yui and Moa aka Black BABYMETAL fighting superstitions to make a better society... and having a lot of fun!
The two of them as Black BABYMETAL have full credits for the lyrics and music. It was arranged by tatsuo (Tatsuo Kinno) and KxBxMETAL (Koba).
Here is the explanation about the number 4 superstition, credits to Du-metal:
The number "4" has two readings in Japanese: native "yon" (yo, yottsu) and "shi" borrowed from (ancient) Chinese. Many people associate the number 4 with "死" (death) because both are read as "shi", and they tend to avoid the number 4. For example, many parking lots in Japan lack #4 & #9 (because both "9" and "苦" (pain) are read as "ku" in Japan). Avoiding the number 4 is common in China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, etc. (the pronunciations differ a bit from that of Japanese).
This song is probably sung against such a superstition, claiming to associate the number 4 not with bad things but with good things.
Until next time!

i love your guys’ reactions💗thank you for always putting these babymetal ones out!
my favourite is when they performed “kimi to anime ga mitai” at black budokan night! it has a killer instrumental and is some of the best su vocals i’ve ever heard. it’s so worth checking out!!
here’s a link with good quality and comments: ua-cam.com/video/G7KKCGLG7tE/v-deo.htmlsi=BkUIoNlcfRS52IDU
the song lyrics are super wholesome and cute. about a girl wanting to watch anime with a loved one, the show partially being an excuse just so the girl can watch her friend or lover be invested in the anime. lyrics like, “i wanna watch your face in profile.” “you don’t have to pay any unusual attention to me.” and, “there’s nothing that disturbs us.” it really represents this!
the song is a cover from “kiba of akiba”’s “animation with you”. the vocal melodies are changed as well as the lyrics a bit to fit a more girly vibe, but the instrumental is the same and just as brutal. which is very babymetal. SUCH AN UNDERRATED SONG!!
More Babymetal!
The only Babymetal song with extra BOING! 🦊🤘🤘🦊

Only thing better than more Babymetal is even more Babymetal
My all-time favourite BM song
This song kills about every brain cell in my head 😁
That moment when they both pull their right legs up and pose the number 4. 7:26
A little fun fact that just about everybody misses the first time: poor Yui has a wardrobe malfunction - at around the 1:30 mark in the video, you'll notice that the strap on Yui's left boot has come loose. Around twenty-five seconds later, when her and Moa are doing the sweeping bows, Yui reaches down and does a quick fix on the boot-strap with out missing a beat. Now that's professionalism!
Although I'm sure to get some flak for it, I would venture to say that if I ever were to put together a BABYMETAL top five list, four of those songs would be the Black BABYMETAL set. In fact, I think if Yui were still with the group, her and Moa could easily cut a Black BABYMETAL album.
Hey, Sam! Regarding you doing the pigtails and tutu, you may want to take a peek at another Japanese group called "Ladybaby" featuring Ladybeard. You're sure to get a kick out of that!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Keep rockin’ BABYMETAL!!!
KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
Now you know why their band position is called "Scream and Dance".
Besides being a fun ass song, the WTF when the reggae hit is so real.... just seeing the two running around the stage, smiling and laughing, having the time of their lives, being the youngest female act to perform in a prestigious venue, just hyping the crowd.... what more can really ask for. 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘
Nice reaction🌟 Please check out "Sis Anger"
"Kagerou(with Kami band intro)" next🤟✨
Hell yeah guys! Great reaction! When I first heard this song, I wasn’t sure if I liked it. However, I was smiling the entire time because how fun and energetic Yui and Moa were in this performance. Later, reading and looking into the lyrics further made me appreciate it so much more as well!
Also to some of your comments:
Some say “Too much Babymetal?” - Never enough Babymetal! 😎
At the end, you mentioned you’ve done these videos. Headbanger, yes, but not to the Moa’s 20th birthday version (aka “Moabanger”), at least I don’t recall. Worth a reaction, she gets a chance to take lead in an epic fashion for her 20th!
🤘🦊
Babymetal has the same effect on me as cute cat videos😂
Good react again Kitsunes. You definitely need to see Black Babymetal with 'Sis Anger" live. It's absolutely great!! The best song by Moa and Yui. See you! 🤟🦊🔥🔥🌸🌸🇯🇵
👍 👍
Thanks guys. Supposedly Moa and Yui wrote the lyrics to this song on a dare from Suzuka while riding a bus on tour.
Yess baby metal ❤
That same channel has a song called "Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai" in 8K, the epitome of Kawaii BabyMetal, check it out :)
Very cool!!!
From what I understand, in Japan, four and death sound practically the same(shi). Therefore, it is a word that is avoided (something like 13 in many countries). The girls' lyrics use several words that use the same sound and are spoken every day, so why not four)? In the choreography they make the typical “silence” sign at the time of “shi shi shi shi shi shi shi shi”, which is only sung at the very beginning of the song...
Enjoy Babymetal!!!🤘🦊🤘
It's just incredible to me just how young these girls were when they were carrying a full crowd on their shoulders like this. Never fails to amaze me and make me incredibly happy!
You have a great time making these videos.🤣🤣🤣

Love YUIMETAL🍅I wish your happiness from my heart 🤘🦊💐
Next reaction is SIS ANGER LIVE IN TOKYO DOME
It doesn't get more kawaii and happy than this.
4 is shi in Japanese but also yon (that’s what you can hear them sing). The shi sounds similar to the sound you make when you tell someone to be quiet, which they do in between all the time. As others said, full writing credits to Yui and Moa. I can’t even imagine how much they annoyed everyone on the tour when they were writing the lyrics xd. 😂 And yes, Black Babymetal performances are always fun to watch (MoiMoi!). 🤘🔥🦊
Shi also means death and that's why they sometimes use yon instead. Shi as 4 四 and shi as death 死 use different kanji tho.
@@Erik6706 Exactly, and thanks for the additional details regarding the kanjis.
Can you please react babymetal-papaya
Hey guys , love your channel. Run it how you want.
Love the observations about details related to their engagement with the crowd, and how those details embedded in the performance are important. It really speaks to who they are as a band / group, what they want is to put on a great show and have every person attending involved and welcomed as part of it. And every single member of the group on stage has a complete blast while they perform.
I also like how you played a truly old school game of "Name that Tune" and were able to get headbanger in 1 note. Can't beat that.
And there goes all my sugar intake for the month, thanks Yui & Moa 😊
If you do GJ please do wembley version!!!
They already did a reaction to GJ.
The number four in eastern culture is treated like the number 13 in the United States ; ie most skyscrapers in Taiwan and china does not have a “4”th floor, for example
Keep on with the goofy and weird and wholesome fun Babymetal I'm here for it 😂😂😂
This version should be called "the song of the thousand fours"
P.S this was the concert in which Yui fell and hurt her back, and also Moa hurt her ankle. but both continue the concert.
That was the night before, at the Red Night concert.
This is from Black Night.
Please more black BABYMETAL their song Sis Anger Live at Tokyo dome which is a bit darker
"Too much Babymetal?" I fail to understand the concept...
Yui ❤🤘🦊
Petition to get Sam in a pigtail (preferably red knots) on every future BM reactions. The tutus are an option, since you're sitting down anyway :D
Moa needs to call Yui up and get together to write Song 5
Just a comment, the video suggestion of Headbanger at the end is a different version and is called Moabanger. Everybody loves this video cause is totally focused in Moa (her 20th Bday) and it has a surprise in it. You should react to it.
It's my impression, at minute 12:50, the melody of a song by the band Metallica starts playing
In Korea the number 4 is associated with bad luck/death. The elevators didn’t have a 4th floor. At least the ones I saw.
Well, in large parts of Asia, but Babymetal is from Japan.
Derroche de energía y ternura.
YonYon!!!
Sam with ponytails and red tutu!!! He’ll never live it down… hahaha 🤣
Now it's time for sis anger by yui and moa prob their most metal sounding song lmao
😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘
👍👍Awesome!! 🦊 🖖❤
Excellent commentary!
Are you singing the Stevie Wonder version of the song "Superstition" or the Jeff Beck version? ha ha
🤘❤️🍅🦊🦊🍗❤️🤘
You def need to react to Moa Headbanger
Because if the bad luck of number 4 the kit kat chocolate bar just comes in twos not fours and also the name kit kat sound similar to the Japanese for best of luck or do your best sonppl give them to others when they have an exam ir interview etc so no 4 bar kit kats.
よんよん
Can you guys please react wagakki band-homura + akatsuki
More Babymetal!
