As someone already said, the comments bring the worst out of people. I appreciated the opening discussion.
For me it helps to think of Baby Metal as Metal Performers rather than a Metal Band in the traditional sense. Because of that their catalog is incredibly varied. You seem to like the heavier music so I'm not sure what song to suggest; my taste is kind of opposite. But I would recommend Shanti Shanti Shanti as it demonstrates their performance aspect as well as their ability to honor other cultures through the Metal genre. You may or may not like it, but it's why they are beloved by so many all over the globe.

Sadly, some BM fans didn't take to the Ijime Dame Zettai message. For whatever reason, some believe that everyone HAS to love the band and all their songs. Sorry, Danyn. Please rest assured that most of us are a friendly batch.. YT comment sections just bring out the Troll in some. This might be a good time to alert you that your title and description have it as Kinslayer.. it is Kingslayer. Thanks for the reaction.

I think what’s considered 'heavy' depends on the person. For some, tonally darker songs immediately make them heavier. For others, it depends on isolated elements.
In a sense, BABYMETAL doesn’t care about heavy music. They’re not trying to create the heaviest song or genre ever. They've never claimed to be one of the heaviest bands out there. So, if that’s your thing, I’m afraid BABYMETAL might not be for you.
I think centering the conversation about BABYMETAL around how heavy they are is futile and a waste of time.

  • @GenTzu

Best advice to understand BABYMETAL was voiced by Su-metal "Don't think, feel"
Since I'm no real judge of genres or heaviness, I only go on how the song makes me feel.
    Suggestions:
    1) Monochrome Live at PIA Arena (Subtitled) [HQ] - on "@whoooo" channel - usually safe from copyrignt issues
    2) Arkadia (Legend MM 2024 Live) Eng Subs - "For the Fox God" channel - it was the ending of the Legend MM Night of 21 concert
    3) Monochrome Piano Version - on the First Take channel - stripped down version where you can clearly hear Su-metal's vocals and Moa's supporting vocals.

  • @pliontis
    @pliontis 21 день тому +12

For SU-METAL's signing voice, I would suggest to check out Monochrome . There is a Monochrome live PIA arena version that is both heavy and emotional and then there is the Monochrome one-take piano version that (should) take your heart.

    That was a surprising reaction.
It's great you liked this one.
    I'm glad you kept going.
There are some good comments with suggestions for songs that are heavier than 'Gimme Chocolate!!' and 'RATATATA'.
I'd add another vote for 'Rondo of Nightmare' from Budokan Black Night.
It's a performance from 2014, but it really holds up.

I missed all the others reactions but think it’s perfectly ok with not liking something. It’s music it’s all about taste. I love Baby Metal and I was not a Metal head was old punk rocker and son introduced me them to me and hooked opened me to Metal. So opening your horizons does open doors you would not usually go through.
Check out “A New Day” featuring Polyphia. Another great collaboration.

Glad you're giving it another shot. I'd recommend Rondo of Nightmare with the Kami band intro, it's just Su singing in it and she's like 10 years younger but still killing it.
Otherwise I'd say almost anything from the last 2 albums as they toned down the cutesy aspect on those because the ladies were older and Babymetal songs were made to be age appropriate. So, considering they were 11 and 12 on the first single, it was very cutesy back then.
The only thing is I don't think they're forcing the cutesy even in their earlier songs, they were just children and they will just inherently sound cutesy.

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 21 день тому +22

Nate, please do not show her 'Gimme Chocolate' until she understands ... that is almost certainly the song she heard and didn't like and all she heard (and continued to hear in the BABYMETAL parts of 'RATATATA' even though it was not there) was not Su-metal's vocals, it was Yui and Moa with their "atatatatatatata dokkyun".
Danyn - the comments you got were not because you didn't like BABYMETAL, that is not a problem, not everybody will like them, it was your complete misunderstanding of what they (and Electric Callboy) are about ... there was no mockery of anything, they were mixing different styles and just having fun with it.
Then what just feels like hypocrisy. You say you like Hanabie, but from the songs I've heard by them their "cutesy" is far more forced, far more false and far more "cutesy" than anything BABYMETAL ever did.
As I said, I suspect you heard 'Gimme Chocolate' and - like so many others, so I'm not blaming you or saying you're out of line for not liking it - you never got past the "atatatatatata dokkyun", that was all you could hear from there on.
As it happens that was not forced or false "cutesiness", that was the voices of two very diminutive and very young Japanese girls. OK they weren't helped by the fact (I'm assuming you watched the official video with the studio audio) that the studio recording was over-processed and the vocals were unnecessarily compressed.
BABYMETAL are not your average metal band ... they even have a song where the lyric states "This ain't Heavy Metal. Welcome to the world of BABYMETAL."
Not all metal needs screams or growls, that is not what makes something "Metal". BABYMETAL are original and unique - they fuse metal instrumentals with JPop style hooks, melodies and aesthetics (and they have added so much more to their repertoire over the years).
The vocals are clean and very clear ... and natural, they are not forced 'cutesy' or false.
If you don't like what you're hearing that's fine, but leave it at that - doing what sounded like Britney Spears impersonations will just piss people off, it was as close as if you'd said Su overuses vibrato and can't hold a note.
Will you like every BABYMETAL song ... probably not. Will there be songs you do like ... I would be very surprised if there weren't any. I'll leave the recommendations to others if they want to make them.

Okay so i disagrree with Danyn's thoughts on Babymetal, BUT i think this might help. theese are all the songs i think are more up the ally of traditional metal rather than their Kawaii orgins
if you want the harder more intense Babymetal
    Metali! (Ft. Tom Morello)
BxMxC (Su rap song still metal)
Metal Kingdom (more melodic but still heavy and serious)
Rondo of Nightmare with mischif of metal gods (Su solo features lots of the band)
    Distortion
    MAYA
    Mirror Mirror
    Devine Attack
Leave it all Behind (F. Hero, Bodyslam and Babymetal)
Starlight (very emotional still hard af)
I think the problem that you might have with them is that they are built on "Cute" they were only 14 and 12 when they became a band and have grown so much since then. I really hope you can open your mind to them beause if you can get past your bias against them youll find that they are amazing and of course Very Metal

As a fairly new BM fan, only listenened for a few months - I find the PIA Arena live performances the best. I like Momo far more than Yui since I didn't listen to them when Yui was in the band and I just feel Momo brings so much more to the band dynamic. I would suggest starting with Monochrome, Megitsune and Road of Resistance all from PIA, they're all great quality and have such a good vibe to them. Sorry you recieved hate, my only advice when listening to this music is do your best not to gatekeep - as much for your own sake 😊

Well, this is always a problem with Babymetal, they go t 6hrough totally different genres. And this is the Song that really brought them to the Colab Game. They were friends with BMHT for years and they wanted to something together for years. And then Babymetal went into hiatus and they knew that Babymetal was on a 10 year contract. And then Olli srarted to write again and he wrote her a few notes he sang it and he still had problems, then she kicked her Production Pipeline in action. But he already had the notion, I can go all in , she will balance the song out.
And in fact it is quite obvious that Electric Callboy and BMTH arevthevtwo Bands that hug Babymetal. So it is obvious while the Production of Ratatata was hectic the bands really found each other. When Nico and Kevin met them for the first time, they were shellshocked: How do you speak to a Goddess., but they totally dropped this. Now it is onvious, that there are a few friends together. We know Su, always a bit distant but careful, while Nico and Kevin have their moments wherevthey totally drop their persona...
I would say Monochrome. It id a difference or Light and Darkness.

I don't think it's a good idea to recommend this song to people who have never heard of Babymetal and never go out to concerts or music gatherings.
      1. Gimme Chocolate (This song has a very high number of views, but it's definitely not a suitable song to get everyone into the babymeetal state, I think it's better to listen to it after at least 7-8 songs)
      2. PA PA YA. (All my friends who don't go to live music events put this song almost at the bottom of the list, usually saying "too much energy, bad feeling, makes people moody")
      3. Tales of the Destnies (not suitable for friends who have never listened to avant-garde music, before recommending this song, you should let the other party listen to other bands' tunes, if you have a friend who likes to challenge the dance, it's suitable to recommend)
