Part 2 of this rebuild, yes. 👍🏼
Heck yeah! I'm gonna do it
@@EvansMTBSaganice! I really enjoy all of your videos, no matter what kind.
Greetings from Germany! ✌🏼

Still waiting for a 2nd season of high low!
Same
Episode 1 is almost done and turning out way better then I had hoped
Can't rush it if you want it to be good
buckle up. I've seen a preview - it's going to be something special!
@@JaredRMorgan intriguing!
famous last words: One Last Ride should be okay
$1k for the suspension? I'll take it! I'll even come to pick it up in Bentonville! And as always, great video!!
Hey Evan! Instead of using chemical removers or your finger on sticky removal, you can buy a rubber buffer for a drill and it works a charm! They use them in the automotive industry and they won’t destroy your paint if you get a good one! No nasty chemicals and no finger blisters
The Jeffsy uncaged 6 flight attendant was on sale (at least in Germany) for 4.999€.
Used in good condition might go between 3.000€ and 3.700€ depending on how long you can wait.
The YT Capra is on sale for 4.799€ right now with flight attendant and SRAM X0 Transmission.
Evan, there's a chemical called right off. It's the only chemical I've ever used that actually takes off adhesive and it has a nice citrus smell. There is another chemical called right on and that helps when applying decals.
Isopropyl alcohol does the trick pretty well, oh yeah 99% of course
You can also use the adhesive side of the old decal to peel the stuck on stuff off sometimes. Cleanest way I've found yet when it works.
I hear you on both of the moyhids you mention. But right off works everytime on any adhesive. It's rather amazing lol.
White spirit works well
lighter fluid.
Chainstay protector: Clear mounting tape works well, make sure both surfaces are alcohol-clean. I’ve used Scotch and 3M in the past. Keep the videos coming! :)
That’s a sick restoration man!
Audio engineering on point!! Great video.
😅😅
As always, good content man. Good editing, nice pacing, and fun. Keep it up!
Thanks Aaron!
Clear silicone works well for reattaching chainstay protectors. I used it on my hightower a few times on the down tube guard.
Had the same issue with the existing wrap on my Jeffsy too. I ended up using MucOff Glue and sealant remover. Worked like a charm
There is a simple solution for this, not the best but a straightforward one. Since RockShox (RS) uses Axis on their dropper, why not lock up both suspensions when the dropper is at full extension, and open up both suspensions when the dropper is down? Think about it; it makes sense. You pedal when your dropper is up, and before entering a gnarly section, you drop the seat. So all they have to do is sync the dropper and the shocks.
Yeah, but a lot of the world climbs trails that still need suspension.
@@fowoow idk about you but my dropper isn't raised when I'm climbing tech, at least not fully....
Normaly the fork and shock use watt meter in the cranks for that. But he pulled them off so it reverted to "limp mode".
Soaking the adhesive with WD40 or even some cooking oil for 20-30m will make it wipe right off, No blisters and sore thumbs!
This is familiar. I bought a 2020 YT Jeffsy CF Pro about a year ago. It had been trashed. The frame was full of mud, it got into everything, and whoever serviced it didn't do a great job of cleaning it out.
A very good, clean, and a bunch of new parts (cables, bearings, etc) later, its mint :D
the colour combo of this bike is immaculate 😍😍
Awesome job Evan! I'm riding an 2018 Jeffsy and I still mostly love it. Though it would need really need a glow up like what you just did 👌
Amazing find to get that bike for the cost of the suspension alone (even though we rarely pay MSRP for suspension)!
yeah this is an awesome buy for someone like you who can fix it. super cool video. nice grab!
Awesome video. Makes me want to go work on my bike listening to 80s disco. I fact, I’m going to go wash it right now
I love this kind of video please keep making more
part two yes! Use 3M 90 spray adhesive. spray both side, let gass off, them apply. Use it for restoration, automotive headliner around the edges.
electronnic suspention is epic seems like a pretty good upgrade!!!!!
Just got a bike with Fox live Valve, pretty crazy tech going on there. Makes the bike the best climber I ever had.
Weather strip adhesive/silicone (permatex) is the glue i was told to use when my yeti chainstay protector started to come off. The black color worked great for me but i do believe you can get them in clear glue as well
Absolutely epic ride! Wish i could try one of thoose one day
Amazing what a little chain stay protector can do. That thing sounds like a bucket of bolts
I had the same issue with old frame protection adhesive. Tried a lot of things and the best thing was 3M adhesive remover I got at Walmart for about $5/can. It literally just melted the adhesive off. Still had to wipe it off and sacrifice a couple towels, but it made light work of it!
Good to know! I have a large piece of film on the downtube still and would kill my thumbs removing it the way I did haha
You better keep this bike it’s so cool. You basically own the future
I feel your pain with no rebuild kit available.
I lost a handle for a fishing reel and it took me three years before I could find a new one anywhere. That is why I don't buy any Pflueger fishing reels anymore. As soon as I got a new handle I sold it to a guy at work
Yikes man! 3 years is wild. Manitou forks had no service kits back in 2020. I sold it before it needed servicing haha
@@EvansMTBSaga never buy an RST stitch, I had to measure o-ring and do the trial an error thing, I found kits advertised for my stitch on eBay but they were not for the right model, I probably wasted more hours sourcing parts than rebuilding it 😂
Ive wanted one of those, but out of my price range. Thanks for sharing.
I picked up a 2017 epic comp for $1200 that got a full major service. Such an awesome bike.
Sick video can we have a part 2 please
Definitely want that flight attendant package if you part it out, perfect update for my Rise!
Dude.. fabulous. The 4K quality too. Well done!
Great video just on getting the goo off from wraps we use eucalyptus oil it works fantastic.
Oh wow! I think I have some too
Heat that wrap more before pulling it. Then use the piece you pulled off to lift off any additional adhesive on the frame while still warm. Sticky side to the warm adhesive will lift anything that remains right off.
Love to see a 2nd episode!
Me too! I never do part 2, but there's a lot left to do
For the chain protector, I use a 3M Mastic tape. It's ugly but you get to cut it to shape and doesn't leave a nasty residue.
Quite thick too.
At 8:42, did you soak the foam ring in fluid? It looks completely dry
Yeah there was a clip prior showing them in the bag with oil
Awesome video, and amazing suspension 👌🏻
The zz-zz of the flight attendant drove me nuts. Couldn't wait to get off the bike.
We need a part two on this!
Sick video.
But those foam rings that go under the wiper seals when servicing the fork lowers. You are supposed to soak in fork oil, whatever weight goes in the lowers. This will keep the stanchions lubricated.
For the press fit bottom bracket, don’t use grease, that can cause a lot of creaking, as press fits are known for. Instead use the park tool retaining compound and adhesive primer. Put the primer on the inside surface of the bike and then apply the retaining compound to the bottom bracket and press it in. This will create a much stronger bond than just grease and will prevent any creaking.
They were soaked. The new oil Rockshox recommends is clear. And I've yet to find a BB that can withstand riding in the rain, so I've had to replace bottom brackets several times a year. No point in using green loctite to basically glue it in when I know I'll have to remove it in 3 months
@@EvansMTBSaga haha I completely missed that. But yeah I totally get that about the bottom bracket. That’s weird tho. I ride in the rain quite a bit and I replace my bottom bracket no more than once a year
Shimano $20 BB-52 lasts 5,000km+ riding in the rain. If the water is leaking into the frame, maybe that could cause the issue though.
You can reattach the chain stay protector with automotive grade 3M double sided tape. I created frame protection for my bikes using old tubes and 3M double sided tape. You can get it at any auto part store.
I tried flight attendant on a giant trance x and the suspension blew me away. It worked so good that it felt like the best of having a hardtail and a full suspension bike because it was supportive when it needed to and opened up immediately during the rough stuff and a big landings. It was very intuitive and it was pretty much invisible in operation for the most part. I know what it's doing and I can feel what it's doing when it's doing it but it responds so fast that it just feels amazing.
I imagine in 10 years it'll be super common and even better
I could see it mapping trails with GPS to anticipate optimal compression
@@EvansMTBSaga as of now, it's very bike specific. You can hear the motor constantly working when riding. It doesn't work good on pump track but everything else is * chefs kiss* I joked around imagining if they put flight attendant on a hardtail lol
@@s14tathearing that motor constantly drove me crazy. I want a silent bike.
Nice rebuild. I had my fill with suspension gadget. I cost me a lot of $ to convert my Stumpjumper w a rear Fox Flaot w a "Brain" trail sensor to a new Rock Shocks Deluxe Ultimate. It worked pretty decent, but I had I send it to Spec for service bc no local shops could do the Nitrogen charge.
Title Bar and Stem always great
Wow, so nice. Always thought these YTs are sick
good new series!
I got a set of Fox32 TTL Terralogic that has similar technology (inertia not electronic), I’ve been running them on my screen bike for 16 years! Yup I bought them new in 2008 and they are awesome!
Heck yeah! Thats rad its still working great. Its so rare to find older bikes out on the trail with all the advancements made in the last 5-8 years
Hey Evan, I was wanting to know where to find the items your going to sell off this bike. I'm interested in the suspension and rims
Incredible bike! Can’t believe it is trashed
Yo evan sick vid btw do you know how i could adjust my suspension on my status 160 its the stock fork and shock. I usualy ride im random places. I couls be doing hide flatdrops one day and be riding a smoothe jump line another and i also ride tech but i feel like my suspensiom is not working well to absorb bumps. If i take air out it bottoms oit when i freeride like flat drop ish stuff. U got any recommendations for me.
Do a lowers service first. It's easy to do. Then worry about sag etc.
@@rrolleman4879ye i probs should
E6000 Is the best adhesive I've found for the chainstay protector. Replaced the frame protection on my YT Capra and had the same issue.
Heck yeah thanks! I just ordered some. I'm really thinking I should do a part 2 for this bike
Hey Evan, I would be interested in the dropper, if you could provide a link to the place where you will be selling it. Thanks
I really enjoyed this build!. The soundtrack was on point- do you mind sharing the playlist you used? Especially the song used during the fork service portion.
I wanna see a part 2. I like seeing full restores
I will definitely do part 2! Might be in 2 weeks to get all those parts
How dose the suspension approach drops? Im guessing fully open?
It can adjust within 5 milliseconds. So if it's a smooth take off, the suspension will be a little more stiff. But it can tell you're floating through the air and fully opens to prepare for the landing
Dang dude, if I had your bike mechanic skills my bike would be loving life! As it is now it groans, creaks, clicks, clunks and protests during my rides. I can service simple stuff (chain, cassette, cranks etc.) but when it comes to fork/shock internals, bearings, etc. fuhgeddaboutit!
You just need to get cheap tools that get the job done, UA-cam and break a few things and you will be able to do it yourself
I thought it was just me that did The Bounce to shake off hidden drips of water! 😂
Dude why is there so many hidden drops? The entire dang thing needs a wipe down again
Great video.
I would be interested in the droper post. What diameter
Definitely the most expensive bike, keep up the great content no matter what the comments say anything negative about you on reddit, and mountain bike components are tricky to sell especially buyers don't actively communicate.
Haha are people mad on Reddit right now?
@@EvansMTBSaga people who watched one of your video "PSA Evan MTB Saga is shilling cheap crappy products and bans you when you call him out." It's more like people roasting you for something, and saying Seth is a decent rider. Rarely speak negative about Seth since taking his suggestions from his youtube of taking good quality photos, and nearly got scammed he did not addressed the potential risks, and that is me speaking from my side of the story from nearly two years ago did apologize to Seth about my behavior.
Haha just saw that. So many mad people
@@EvansMTBSaga that so true, rarely anyone talks negative about Seth, with me being one of the very few at least I had a justification and acknowledge that I was not right state of mind.
Absolutely Love my 2020 Jeffsy and its not to far out of date, really just HA. Up fork to 160 up front with offset 51 not 42 with a Pike Ultimate and its all I need in Squamish or N Shore. Just purchased the Stealth Ultimate RSC for 2024 over guides, and at the end of the month I'm spending a week in Squamish with a day or 2 in whistler.
Buy a rubber wheel for removing adhesive. It’s like a jumbo eraser that you put on a drill.
Yes please, any and all content as fast and furious as you can handle lol
Lighter fluid takes glue residue right off easier and faster than products “made” for that. Just wipe area clean with your spray of choice. Does not harm clear coat/paint.
My 22 Jeffsy my favorite bike so far. I’ve demo ridden a bunch rented a bunch and my jeffsy is by far my favorite. I threw in carbon wheels and it only weighs 30lb in xl size. Hopefully you don’t hate on it too bad
Great bike. the geometry is typical for a modern MTB. I don't have anything bad to say about it. I may get some heavier tires to add a little weight.
@@EvansMTBSaga I’m still in Phoenix riding these climbs. I opted for forekasters and they stick like glue on trail 100 or apache wash. Solid video, I’d have kept the axs drivertrain as well. I had Stilwell performance build my fox factory suspension a nd it works like butter considering I’m 245lb with gear. Keep up the good content !
I tested this exact bike in Whistler back to back with the longer travel Canyon Spectral. The Spectral was so much nicer to ride and was half the price. And I didn't have to listen to the FA motor copying every few seconds. That sound was terrible in my ears.
Evan I’d rather wait for your terrific content than watch you ride handcut hollow with a broken axle. Be safe Bud!
Hey Evan! as a personal owner of this exact bike I can tell you that you will love it. According to my research there is actually only 200 worldwide. Also the flight attendant had been in the works for over 10 years. I had the privilege to test ride this bike a year before i bought it. I got it directly from Yt As a demo bike. Lastly that frame wrap that came in the bike sucksss. I took it all of for a RideWrap. I also got a blister on my thumb😂. Anyways have a good day!!
I saw when they started selling this model, it was like $5800, then they jacked it up to $9499. I hope you got it at the lower price!
@@EvansMTBSagaI got it for 5k in almost mint condition. Also just finished the vid and the chain slap is an issue even on mine! Keep up the great work and great video as always!
Try the wizzy wheel for adhesive removal its works great and no abuse on your hands
The car UA-camrs I watch use that all the time. I might have to get one, but knowing me I'd get crazy with it and ruin the paint haha
We want the part 2 of the rebuild…nice looking 👀 bike 👍🏿
Heck yes to part 2
Love the title bars
Nice Vid Evan
Just side note petrol works amazingly for removing glue.
$10,000? What a steal!
Such a crazy number for bike brands to ask
Dang, man, you should do a giveaway on the other bikes you have ❤❤
Uhh I want that suspension....I kinda believe they should go with crank?
Are you going to put up a listing for that downgraded frame? I am looking for a bike with better geometry than my current one (cake 2 dlx), because it makes my hands go numb on long rides.
I should probably do the frame only before building up a mid tier complete. Won't be listing it til June though
I would love to see a video from you about Light-e-mtb‘s. Especially the Orbea Rise. Would be fun to hear your opinion about this, since you ride a lot of trail bikes and a beefy e-bike! The Orbea Rise is right in the middle.
Dude's got some steeze! Nice!
Im a suspension technician in colorado. If you ever want tips on a full service to show your subscribers, let me know! Never worked on electronic stuff but a damper bleed and fresh air seals really make a difference.
Barge contact cement will be your best bet. Shoe goo or silicone is a temp solution.
I'm your biggest fan from Romania
I jut saw an AXS dropper new ranging from 389 to 449 the other day, so 400 might be a tough sell. The ones I saw didn't have much drop though just 50-75mm of drop. Oh, and yes to a part 2 of this rebuild.
Yeah maybe more like $350. I was throwing my starting prices out in case anyone buying my parts sees the video 😅
Evan - I took the chainstay protector off of my Yeti Sb5.5 and reattached it with "shoe goo" the same stuff I used to use on my skate shoes. Stuck great! Great job on this find. Looks like a dream build. Good to know that the Crank Bros. hubs are I9. Who knew!?
only on the top spec yt models :) otherwise you get a generic 3 pawl hub i believe
High end bikes are hard to sell in this market just locally to me there's like a dozen+ very high end bikes at a good price for sale since at least last Autumn, listings sit, sellers have almost all lowered their price but still no movement even with the weather being good... A bit worrying lol
Don’t worry I am here the Aussie is here and I broke my derailleur but it is now fixed
Frame has undersized bottom bracket, poor spin test. Sram BB tolerates 40.95-41mm. Can be fixed by hooning the BB frame shell with a driller and a special tool. Hambini has some vids about bike issues, if youre in engineering behind.
8:42 Aren’t you supposed to soak the foam ring in oil before install?
It was soaked, just the oil is basically clear and my light was really bright
Evan, I would love to see something like the hardtail quest again, but with dual suspension, mtb's.
Soak the glue in WD40 or plain naptha and wipe it off a half hour later to avoid the thumb blisters
Part 2! Part 2!🎊
Use loctite BB adhesive for your chain stay rubber
is that the Title Form Carbon bars, looks very good, Im tempted to buy one.
Yup! And their stem. Very cool looking
Title MTB is awesome!
yeah you have to do a part 2
next time use oil for adhesive. it helps a lot. regular cheap any kind cooking oil helps.
It’s kind of the season for mountain bike so I could see that bike selling for 4500 and if it doesn’t then part it out but it’s a cool bike it doesn’t need to be taken apart yet
Part 2!!!
no question ask!!
