"I like working on bikes with you Owen". Dude, when you said that then looked down at Owen - I could feel that love through my tv screen! I have 2 buys (3 and 5) and we watch and love your channel! So much proud dad inspo. Your boys are lucky to have a dad who loves spending time with them! Good job brother.
That's awesome, it's the best feeling sharing moments like this with my kids. You've got a lot of good times coming your way with your boys! I miss when my kids were 3 and 5, so cute and funny at that age, not always easy though haha. Have a great day and tell the kids I said hi!
Always good to see groms with good taste in music! One of my Cubs is a big Green Day/Fall Out Boy fan, which is pretty cool in a young'in, but I reckon O's got him beat if he's up there with Maiden! I love Owen's attitude and chatter in these videos, he has a natural on-camera presence. His face when he got his hands on that sawzall though... 😂 Your piece at the end about pacing progression is absolutely spot-on, I've frequently shown clips from some of your videos to the kids I ride with when they're either trying to go too big too soon or getting frustrated because it's "taking too long" to progress. You guys explain and demonstrate so well the value of taking the time to learn and get comfortable before going bigger or faster, and they listen to you better than they do me! 😂🙄
Nice to see another video in a while, Samox is something I have not heard since owning my Marin San Quentin bike, and it's sweet to the DJ given some major changes.
This is a lucky kid! His cranks and pedals are worth more than my bike. LOL That said, Samox makes a great assortment of budget friendly sizes as well. I appreciate that. I have the same problem on my kids DJ. That saws-all in the tube guide is genius!!!! AND FUN!
I know you probably won't see this but i wanted to let you know how awesome you channel is and how you have inspired me throughout my MTB journey. Thank you!!!
Wicked good stuff! You’re doing an excellent job teaching. Definitely gets me more stoked to wrench and ride with my boy this season. I’m Still grateful for the lessons and time riding with you, Aaron, Kyle, and the rest of the crew when I was a grom. Keep it real and hope to run into you and your fam if you’re up north.
Thanks!! Very happy to be back, we will be posting more regular now! This is actually the first time I've used a sawzall for bars, it was fun haha. Usually I use a hacksaw with the cutting guide, but I've also used a plumbers cutter, they all work!
On wrenching the bike pedals, I always look at it with the wrench at 1200 and say “Back Off!”. It makes it easy to remember. I got confused listening to your description, so others might also. 😂
That bike is looking sick! Can you tell me some rough dimensions of the kid sized jumps? Take off radius, height and length between the take off and landing ?
Thanks! He loves it, has so much fun on it. The jumps are 4.5' tall lips and 5' tall landings, with an 8' gap. The radius is 9'. They work really well!
We thought about it but the frame is 1 1/8" head tube so the options are limited so we just fixed this one. I'm not sure what events Diamondback will be at this year, but we all decided to skip Sedona, hopefully we're there next year, we love it there!
Those are two piston brakes actually, the MT8 is the XC one that we used, the MT7 is the 4 piston thats stronger. We have the 2 piston brakes on my dirt jumper and on Owen's! Thanks, yeah, he's ripping, loves it!
on average ppl cut it at 740mm i would say but you don't want to cut it too short because you will probably learn to do barspins without leaning back properly and it's also harder to ride on huge jumps
That's awesome, welcome to dirt jumping, it's the best! I have my dirt jump bars at 780mm, I'm 6'3 and I don't barspin much, they feel really good to me. I can still x-up and barspin when I want to, works well with tailwhips too, and I have great control. Best advice though really is do what feels good. We used to run 680mm width and I could do everything with those as well, I think I like riding wider bars now since I run 780mm on pretty much all my bikes.
I loved this video. Your showing Owen that he can work on his bike himself. Please be sure to use eye protection when sawing. His bike skills are amazing but they would permanently be trashed by having only one functional eye and no depth perception. This exact thing happened to a friend. I know you include safety in your lessons, so it made me cringe and I was surprised. You guys are awesome.
I totally agree, and we usually do, for some reason we forgot this time. It only takes once as well, as you know. I also have a friend with eye damage from hammering nails and a little sliver shot up. Thanks for bringing it up, I do take that stuff seriously!!
When he outgrows that bike you need to turn it into a trials bike because its essentially already a street trials bike It would just need a different gear ratio and front brakes and maybe a no sus fork Oh and long stem and tall bars
There is a sick trials spot at sugar house park now where the bike trail goes under highland drive definitely worth checking out I have an inspired street trials bike and have been trying to learn how to do some cool stuff on it
That's a bummer they aren't into it, I was the only one in my family that liked mountain biking when I was growing up, just keep riding and you'll be alright! 👊

Is it just me, or does this guy look like the dad in Outdoor Boys.
He is quite similar to him as a person to I think Mabey there siblings haha
OMG I KNOW NGL
Haha yeah I could see that! I've never met him but he seems rad!

Awesome video. It’s great that you are teaching your son to work on his bike
Thanks!! I love teaching him, it's fun working on stuff together too!
He does for real bro both are crazy chill and good at UA-cam keep it up porter mtb and outdoor boys
Cutting the bars with the sawzall reminds me of that day when you were cutting screws out of the ramp using the chainsaw… 😂 sports beers!
Haha yeah, it's not about using the right tool for the job, it's about using the most fun tool for the job!
Nice to see another video in a while, Samox is something I have not heard since owning my Marin San Quentin bike, and it's sweet to the DJ given some major changes.
They are really cool, I think we're gonna try some of them on our other bikes too, shorter cranks seem to work really well for a lot of situations!
finally posted again 😊
Yeah! More coming soon too!
Proud to say I still have an Iron Horse Porter in the garage!
That's awesome!! I'll have to build one up again someday to see how it rides compared to my current dirt jumper!

I love your videos Eric ! keep up the good work, excited for what's to come !
Thank you, love to hear that! Working on the next one now, it's a fun one!
Transfering to the big landing was sick. You should send the big lip into the small landing for some step down action.
Yeah they figured that transfer out! It is fun from big lip to small landing, we'll have to make a video on all the transfers in the yard!

Love the ode to death on that porter mtb shirt
SLAYER!!! 🤘
Nice video. Welcome back. I'm not good with a saws-all. So, I use a plumbers cutter instead for my handlebars and seatposts.

i also have a diamond back farm on my bike as i have a very similar dirt jumper there very good
Love that Less than jake shirt so cool to see other people loving itt

Owen changed so much!
I know, he's been growing, wait till you see Milo too, he's gotten huge!
you made a great choice with those magura brakes, i have the same ones and there like heaven
I love their brakes!
how do the magura bracket go
Just a regular adapter, they are all a little different, just have to get the right one for the bike and rotor size you wanna use!
him being an Iron Maiden fan, just made him my new favorite little dude...
That's awesome!! I took him to see Maiden last summer, he was blown away. He can play a few of their songs on guitar too, it's so rad to see!

Yooooooo I love this and I am actually going to be racing in red bull hard line this year I am stoked
Yeah!! That's awesome! 👊
I gotta know what front fork is on Owen’s bike! It’s so hard finding straight head tube air forks!
I can't remember the model, not home right now, but it's a Suntour XCR Junior I think. It is very hard to find a straight 1 1/8" steerer tube 24".
Great to see your kids listening to iron maiden 😂🤘
YUP I PUT APE HANGERS ON MINE AND IT HANDLE GREAT SMALLER REAR TIRE TOO, ITS THE FUTURE OF MTB , UPGRADE
u guys got me in to mtb not the best your videos just kept me going man
Surprised you just didn't go with a total fork upgrade, didn't see a diamond back both at sendoa this year any thoughts?

What Single speed Chain adjuster are you using?
I can't remember, not home right now, but I think it's a Spot brand maybe?
Lov your vid’s, keep up the good work
Pretty cool of you to dial his bike in
Made him so happy, and it was fun!
Hi i am just wondering, what is the name of the fork that you used.
Owens got steez!
Yeah he's figuring it out, so cool to see!

Yeah it's crazy how fast both boys are growing!
Great video. Up the irons

is it good toi take the front brake off on full sus?
666mm 🤣🤘🤘

No hate but I was wondering what made you guys put 4 piston breaks on his dirt jumper build. He is a little shredder tho, better than me!
