It does have 4 independent mono channels. It all depends on how you set up the project in your DAW. Also the stereo-mono switch is only for monitoring purposes.
Can you explain how to separate them into 4 independent mono channels/also combining them all into 1 channel? I can't choose all four to go through into skype or discord for example, but that would be very helpful. I can only pick 1-2 or 3-4
Thank you Ben! I truly needed another Archive in my life as I have been watching the older ones again and again!
10:45 Hmmm... as far as I can tell from your description, the labeling is fine. All recording interfaces I know that are targeted at home recording, semi-pro or pro label their inputs by channel. Even a stereo cassette or tape deck is usually labeled as a 2-track device. You should be able to get a fully-centered mono signal from just one channel if you use a mono track in your DAW. Blank new tracks are often stereo by default, they have to be switched to mono. Sorry if I'm just stating the obvious.
Ben, IDK how you have your Cubase set up. if you transfer to reaper, when you create a track, you can choose whether it is mono or stereo, and thus how many inputs it is using. There's no way they F'd up That hard at behringer, all inputs are independent
It does it on Pro Tools as well.
This interface has been around for about 5 years. Had one when they first came out and it worked fine for my purposes
We use that same box for our streaming machines for the radio stations I work for. Very reliable boxes!
Yeah I still run a win 7 tower with a hamerfall box that's 96khz 24 bit 8 channel + 8ch fiber adat/adat sync (with actual black adat deck) for video post production when I need it. I don't plan on changing the hardware.
I have the rack version of this. I'm running a Behringer Model D, Yamaha DX7s, Minilogue XD Module, Roland JP8000, Alesis SR16, and I run guitar through it on the front. Performs great, sounds great and recordings come out excellent. Also running to the Behringer Truth monitors with matching powered sub, no issues ever. All through Reaper..."super easy" to setup in reaper, "barely an inconvenience"...lol
Behringer has definitely come up in the world over the past few years, in terms of their product lines. Alas, they still suffer from all the typical Behringer issues: more than anything, cheap pots and switches mounted directly to the board. The money is in the hardware, so there's no helping that -- may the gods bless cheap Chinese ICs and their contribution to making audio production gear accessible to the masses.
It's also worth mentioning that the mono button on the 404 is part of the monitoring area and has no affect while recording through usb. It's good with headphones and the outputs, but if you plug into only channel 1, pressing the mono button will not add your audio to any other channel for recording.
It seems we are in the same boat with using old software. I record on a rebuilt XP machine running Cool Edit Pro. Still love the results!
How did you comment 7 hours ago, when this premiered an hour ago?
@@bradleypearl2986 Released earlier for patreon supporters probably
@@bradleypearl2986 TARDIS. I tried for 2 hours before premier but it's not very accurate.
I have a fairly new computer, by my standards at least (Dell Precision M4800, circa 2013), but I work 100% in Linux, in order to keep that "everything is a struggle" feeling of yesteryear.
Cool Edit Pro was the DAW I learned on. Good memories and good results. I still have my original installation CD.
I love your parker pen. I had one the same colour when i was at high school in 1986
I think it's best audio interface at this price point.
Thats a nice rig
As such, this video is you dinking around in tandem with what you have at your fingertips, albeit, in a very homebrew sort of way.
HEY, I have that exact same interface hooked to my Blue Yeti Pro! Great choice Ben. side note it supports linux out of the box, thats how i use it. mine has been in use for the last 4 years and has had no issues.
Nice video, one question where you get it for that price? Rigth now is 178.00 dollars everywhere , can you give me a hint where can i found it for less ? Thank you
The Focusrite seems to be highly rated in vinyl and tape forums. If you want high-quality (audiophile-quality) vinyl or tape rips, probab. the Focusrite is better. Not sure about just microphone or musical instrument use, tho'.
How I wish this design was compact like Motu m6
Yeet. We miss the intro dawg. Watchin scary logos fer the fok of it.
You can definitely multitrack with this my dude. Either you don’t have the right drivers or maybe you don’t know how to set it up? No disrespect.
I recently bought the FocusRite Scarlett and I am impressed with its performance and ease of use. I have been putting it through its paces and so far it has not disappointed. I am trained as a recording engineer / broadcast technician and have had experience with alot of different audio-interfaces and DAW software. I must say this; I would not touch any product made by Behringer with someone else's ears. *Chineseium* does not appear on my Periodic Table of the Elements.
...and yes, I am fully aware of the 'irony' happening here...
Yeah, I've played with this thing a couple more times since I made the video and I'm just not warming up to it. Probably gonna sell it.
