Now you need to get an old Theremin and a Moog synth to make the perfect Oddity Archive theme song. I don't think you could get more "archive-y" than that.

I played at a wedding years ago (1996 or so) and the keyboard player had one of those drum machines. He had to quickly program before every tune. It was quite effective as our drummer for the evening.

I used to own Dick Hyman's "Moog: The Electric Eclectics" on vinyl until someone stole it from me. Oh well at least I made a MP3 Backup of it prior to the theft.

It's been reissued, albeit inexplicably paired with one of his earlier albums. www.amazon.com/Moon-Gas-Moog-Electric-Eclectics/dp/B00T3LASAO/ Age of Electronicus is still vinyl and R2R-only, I'm afraid.

I started to try and take it apart, but the particle board that the thing's housed in started to give, so I had to settle for blowing it out with canned air. I didn't mention it in the episode, but it was a fixer-upper. The veneer was mostly peeled off (which I did my best to reglue) and the pots and buttons were all scratchy.

I've actually seen a Lowrey electric organ in person once, a couple of years ago. It was sitting on a neighbor's curb waiting to be picked up for big garbage day. There was a demo/how to tape left in it, so I snagged the tape, reeled the loose tape back in, and it plays fine. But the demo is stereo test record weird. Of course true nature of where I live tweakers gutted that thing in about a couple of hours.

oh hey, do you think you could record really clean samples of this and release them as a free or affordable sample packs? i love collecting rhythm machine sounds to try out some unusual sounds in stuff and i havent even heard of this rhythm machine. it would be a great boon to people making music with samples!
also this is a rhythm machine. a drum machine is programmable. this just has preset rhythms.
