kamek and magikoopa are different characters, Kamek is the highest ranking magikoopa, being one of bowser's advisors, often being portrayed as his second in command. while the rest of the magikoopa are just any koopa that happens to know magic. Kamek often has his own boss fight or more commonly uses his magic to give bosses an edge just before a fight. meanwhile normal magikoopa are just treated as normal enemies. Kamek is sometimes shown wearing purple instead of blue in games where both make an appearance.
There's also kameks broomstick, I've only seen ordinary magikoopas use broomsticks in super paper mario and nowhere else, though they might in some other obscure spin off
I don't think you're counting any of the RPG games, but Baby Luigi and Baby Mario are both playable in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Great video, by the way!
Fun fact: Mario is relatively speaking in more spinoff games, than in mainline games! Even if we count Baby Mario as Mario, he still misses out on a mainline game: New Super Luigi U. And yet when looking at spinoffs, he has perfect attendance
iggy lemmy and morton all being together in paper jam and now in this list i love how you referred to appearances in as resumes it makes it very fun to listen to
Mario spin-off games. These always fascinate me, not only because of allowing Mario to play just about everything under the sun, but also just seeing the sheer number of playable characters within. I guess that Super Smash Bros. doesn't count; if so, that would be an extra appearance for Daisy and King K. Rool, two appearances (three if you count 3DS separately) for all the Koopalings, Bowser Jr., Rosalina, and Luma, and also the first playable role of a regular Piranha Plant. Not to mention that Peach and Bowser are in most of these games, Wario and Diddy was around since Brawl, and Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and DK are in all SSB titles. I can understand why Smash is excluded, as they are a massive crossover of numerous Nintendo universes. Mario makes up a big chunk of the roster, but again, Smash is technically not _just_ a Mario series. Another outlier seems to be the side characters in Mario Sports Superstars; the baseball and soccer modes offer a variety of enemies playable, like Goomba, Spike, and Hammer Bro. Aside from that, this video was very comprehensive. Good job!
@@GPXBrent He was specifically not including the crossover characters that appeared. Most likely because of the Olympic titles being just about a 50/50 split between the plumber and the hedgehog.
I think a major element there is baseball tends to require a lot of simultaneous players, even at a minimum, compared to most other activities depicted in the various side games. I think its, like, 10 players per team? Then you'll need to double that number to ensure enough characters for two teams facing eachother. Then even more characters to ensure more team diversity so it isn't just the same, like, 20 each game just shuffled across the two teams a bit. At that point, to fill in a character roster that large you'll have to really start digging into side series like Donkey Kong, generic enemies promoted to playable, and some more obscure picks too. This is probably why the Strikers games have a lot of your teammates be a consistent set of more generic Species, like Toads, Shy Guys, and Kremlings, since having a unique character for every player would similarly inflate the roster, and why Basketball is limited to 3v3.
You definitely put a lot of work into this list, however I do think there was some missed characters from Mario Sports Superstars. I wouldn’t bring this up, but if we’re counting Strikers and Sluggers side characters, then we need to count the side characters that are Available in the soccer and baseball modes. Going in order from the baseball game (as a lot of them are exclusive to them): - Toad - Koopa - Kamek/Magikoopa - Paratroopa - Shy Guy - Squirrel Toad - Penguin Toad - Goomba - Hammer Bro - Boom Boom - Pom Pom - Spike (+ Stone Spike if that’s a separate character) The only character that’s exclusive to Soccer is Dry Goomba as they need an alternative skin to each character variant for some reason.
Fun Fact: DK Jr. was going to be playable in Double Dash!! The reason we know about this information is because of unused graphics in a demo version of the game.
Wario is ABSOLUTELY playable in power tennis. Played that game as a kid and I certainly would've noticed his absence, especially because the opening cutscene for the game heavily features him and Waluigi.
You're wrong about Pauline though. Her first appearance was the same game as Mario and Donkey Kong's first appearances. She came before goomba and is JUST NOW becoming playable
19:33 wiggler, petey piranha and kamak was added into the Wave 5 booster course pass in mk8D not wave 2. There wasn't any characters added in the first 3 waves yet until wave 4 with Birdo being the first and only to be added in that wave. Also you could do the same for Pauline since she confirmed for the last 6th wave for the booster course pass along with Diddy Kong, Funky Kong and Peachette

Also Dry Bones was never playable in Rio and the whole of the Olympic Games. He was a rival character in Curling and Dream Hurdles but you could never unlock it
I want to defend Mario Tennis Power Tour, I love the game and all of these characters have dialogue and funny lines that makes them stand out in the game, I mean, not everyone are amazing but still they have their charm.
Cool video, just find it weird when folks refer to the Camelot sports original characters as "humans" like Mario,Peach etc aren't lol. I get it's mostly a stigma against them not appearing in any other Mario titles, but it's always weird to see them referred to as "those humans" like they're some obscure species that are a blemish on the universe when honestly a good amount of them could fit in with the series general artstyle and tone if they kept being utilized today. Especially if hopefully Super Rush's idea of putting most of the cast in cool golf drip is a mainstay thing, those Camelot designs could fit more.
This video put me to sleep (and i mean that as a compliment). i was having the hardest time in the world sleeping, as i was sick, and this video managed to get it done. Thank you!!
I sort of understand Larry’s multiple inclusions. Think of it like this, in games where the Koopalings take up a majority of the bosses, Larry is usually the first one fought, Ludwig is most likely the last, and Wendy tends to be towards the middle. Also I find the term “human characters” in reference to the mostly one-off spinoff oc’s sort of odd, as a good majority of the Mario franchise’s main cast consists of humans. I understand the sentiment behind it, though.

kamek and magikoopa are different characters, Kamek is the highest ranking magikoopa, being one of bowser's advisors, often being portrayed as his second in command. while the rest of the magikoopa are just any koopa that happens to know magic. Kamek often has his own boss fight or more commonly uses his magic to give bosses an edge just before a fight. meanwhile normal magikoopa are just treated as normal enemies.
Kamek is sometimes shown wearing purple instead of blue in games where both make an appearance.
There's also kameks broomstick, I've only seen ordinary magikoopas use broomsticks in super paper mario and nowhere else, though they might in some other obscure spin off
@@AlphaFX-kv4udthey also use the broom in the original paper Mario I think
Wait and also the super star saga remake
The fact that Pink Gold Peach has been playable in as many spin-offs as Nabbit and the GOOMBA is horrifying
9:45 I’m probably wrong here but I am pretty sure Spike appeared in Tennis Aces, but it’s been a while since I played it
I don't think you're counting any of the RPG games, but Baby Luigi and Baby Mario are both playable in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
Great video, by the way!
Fun fact: Mario is relatively speaking in more spinoff games, than in mainline games! Even if we count Baby Mario as Mario, he still misses out on a mainline game: New Super Luigi U. And yet when looking at spinoffs, he has perfect attendance
Mario doesn't have perfect attendance for spinnofs because he isn't playable in mario is missing
iggy lemmy and morton all being together in paper jam and now in this list
i love how you referred to appearances in as resumes it makes it very fun to listen to
Toadsworth really deserves more than two playable appearances. Nintendo's really doing him dirty.
He hasn't appeared since mario and luigi dream team
Good job!
He also missed out on the Square Enix characters from Hoops and Sports Mix, and the guest characters from DS (R.O.B.), the arcade games and 8/Deluxe

He also missed out on the Square Enix characters from Hoops and Sports Mix, and the guest characters from DS (R.O.B.), the arcade games and 8/Deluxe
@@GPXBrent He was specifically not including the crossover characters that appeared. Most likely because of the Olympic titles being just about a 50/50 split between the plumber and the hedgehog.
I am pretty sure that toad actually wasn’t playable in super Mario party as he was the host in that game
13:00 Baby Daisy was in Mario Super Sluggers
27:11 Wrong, Shy guy was playable in two party games, Mario Party 9 and Super Mario Party
The Baseball devs must have really liked the enemies and obscure characters
Pauline did not debut in Mario Odyssey!!
That was their first appearance in the Super Mario series though. Goomba appeared in the first game in the series.
You definitely put a lot of work into this list, however I do think there was some missed characters from Mario Sports Superstars. I wouldn’t bring this up, but if we’re counting Strikers and Sluggers side characters, then we need to count the side characters that are Available in the soccer and baseball modes. Going in order from the baseball game (as a lot of them are exclusive to them):
- Toad
- Koopa
- Kamek/Magikoopa
- Paratroopa
- Shy Guy
- Squirrel Toad
- Penguin Toad
- Goomba
- Hammer Bro
- Boom Boom
- Pom Pom
- Spike (+ Stone Spike if that’s a separate character)
The only character that’s exclusive to Soccer is Dry Goomba as they need an alternative skin to each character variant for some reason.
Fun Fact: DK Jr. was going to be playable in Double Dash!!
The reason we know about this information is because of unused graphics in a demo version of the game.
He was likely the backup plan for if they couldn't get Diddy Kong.
You have stronger determination than I do. It would've taken me weeks to get the research alone done.
13:04 Actually, Baby Daisy was also playable in Super Sluggers.
this video is so underrated
Agreed
Criminally underrated, u earned my sub and like
It’s criminal that Baby Luigi, the objective best character in fiction is playable as much as metal mario and less than dry bowser
but dry bowser rules :(((
Baby Luigi sweep
@@chimeratriplett2319don't even compare any other character to baby luigi
Dry Bowser > Baby Luigi
@@Baconator2558how dare you
Baby Daisy was in Mario Super Sluggers
Bump
Wario is ABSOLUTELY playable in power tennis. Played that game as a kid and I certainly would've noticed his absence, especially because the opening cutscene for the game heavily features him and Waluigi.
Correction. Baby Daisy is also in Mario Super Sluggers. 13:01
12:47 Baby Daisy has a 4th appearance actually. She was in Mario Super Sluggers on the Wii
Super Mario Bros. 3 came out in 1988, I believe 1990 for US, during Dry Bones you had it as 1993, which is likely the remake's release
Also you could do the same for Pauline since she confirmed for the last 6th wave for the booster course pass along with Diddy Kong, Funky Kong and Peachette
holy dedication. watched the whole thing, nice video!
I will say, Baby Daisy was playable in 4 games, NOT 3
Baby Daisy is playable in 5 games so far.
@orhoushmand85 Oh is she?
Oh, yeah she is.
I must have combined 8 and 8 Deluxe
@@jacksnow54104 I mean Baby Daisy is playable in Mario Kart Wii, Mario Super Sluggers, Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario Kart Tour. I don't understand why Mario Kart Tour is excluded in this video.
@@orhoushmand85 Oh yeah, she isn't playable in Superstar Baseball.
I think Tour was excluded from, because it's a mobile app, not on any console game
@@jacksnow54104 In this video I would rather include Mario Kart Tour. On the other hand this video includes New Play Controls Mario Power Tennis, which I would rather exclude because in this game there is no new content.
Update - Ninji got a 2nd appearence, Spike got a 3rd one, Goomba and Pauline got a 4th, Monty got a 5th, Shy Guy got a 15th, Toadette got a 17th, Rosalina and Koopa Troopa got a 21st, Birdo got a 23rd, Boo got a 25th, Bowser Jr got a 32nd one (I counted) Toad got a 44th, Bowser got a 48th, Donkey Kong got a 54th, Daisy got a 55th, Waluigi got a 59th, Wario got a 67th, Yoshi got a 71st, Peach and Luigi got a 74th and Mario got a 75th.
(This took like 40 minutes and all I did was add the Jamboree Characters.)
Wiggler, kamek, and petey piranha were added in wave 5 of the booster course pass, not wave 2.
It’s amazing how many mistakes this guy made
If i remember correctly Ludwig isn't in Rio 2016 as his main sport is fencing and it isn't in the Wii U but in the 3ds version he done Table Tennis while Wendy appears in all as the swimming guest are Larry in all as the equestrian guest.
Also Dry Bones was never playable in Rio and the whole of the Olympic Games. He was a rival character in Curling and Dream Hurdles but you could never unlock it
24:07 I love Dry Bowser’s preferred Spinoff type of “insert”
Baby Mario got that too
I want to defend Mario Tennis Power Tour, I love the game and all of these characters have dialogue and funny lines that makes them stand out in the game, I mean, not everyone are amazing but still they have their charm.
Thank you!!
Koopa Kid was also playable in Mario Party 4 just in the Volleyball mode
I actually loved this video idk why but it was so nostalgic especially the golf ones ahahah keep it up man
This video was super fascinating! Good job
Goombas my favorite enemy and i always get sad with all the spin off games hes not in, i hope he gets in mario kart

7:40 „the only kind of Piranha Plant to play as“ yeaaaa forget about Smash Bros DLC
8:10 And that was the moment I realized... Pink Gold Peach and Baby rosalina are in more spinoff games 💀💀 Also I guessed 80 1 timers
Ok real talk though, I was kinda hoping there’d be at least 1 spin-off game that somehow DIDN’T feature Mario in it, because that would’ve been hilarious to get to the end and somehow the titular character didn’t have a perfect attendance record
Incredible content, did not disappoint.
Well there's now Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline and first playable appearance (by your criteria) Peachette in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
im going to be honest, i was hoping that mario would be in 73 out of 74 games. mostly because it would've been really funny
Literally came to this video only because I knew vampire wario would be mentioned at some point from Doctor Mario 64
Hey one that you missed was Mario Sports Mix. That had some Square Enix characters but still had majority Mario. That had:
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Daisy
Toad
Yoshi
Wario
Waluigi
Bowser
Bowser Jr.
Donkey Kong
Diddy Kong
Cactuar
Black Mage
White Mage
Ninja
Slime
Moogle
I was going to say the same thing earlier but it’s there, he just never says the game’s name but it’s on the text of the screen for I believe when a character completed in Olympic Games
@@dawn9422that's weird, would've put it under misc
Finaly, Someone Know How WALUIGI is Soooooo... Important!
...isn't Baby Daisy in Mario Super Sluggers, too?
Yes you are right. (Technically a unlockable playable one along with others but still playable)
No, can’t believe you forgot about Sonny. He’s a legend. Whoever he was
Super Mario Brothers 3 is listed as coming out in 1993 during Dry Bones' segment, which is incorrect; it came out between the years 1988 and 1991, depending on the region.
Damn, this only has a thousand views? You deserve so much more, really entertaining video!
13:02 as a certified sluggers fan, i can confirm she is as well in the baseball game! (At least i think, its been a while since ive played it
This video is really cool, but have you thought of including Mario Kart Tour as a spinoff title as some characters like Dixie Kong have gotten another apearance there which would be 4 if you included Mario Kart Tour. I'm just curious why you havn't included Mario Kart Tour
Nice video bro, gotta keep making content like this.
This might not count, but I couldn't help but notice that you neglected to mention toadette's appearance in the super mario maker 2 story mode. I totally get that handling this sheer quantity of data can get confusing, but I just felt that this needed to be put out there for the sake of thoroughness.
EDIT: Ma boi Funky Kong back in 8 deluxe, making him officially a three-timer
9:45 wrong tennis game, he was in aces
Pauline’s been in the franchise longer than good a has!
Toad wasn't playable in Super Mario Party. You also forgot that Shy Guy was playable in the same game.
Cat Peach was playable in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, as with all characters from the original Mario Kart 8.
I believe that kritter also appears as the goalie in the first 2 mario strikers games, which would make that 1 appearance suddenly turn into 3
DK and Diddy were both in toadstool tour and Toadette was in ultra smash
Dude your so underrated only 300 views!!!
I’m surprised that not every koopaling was playable at all times they were present
13:00 baby daisy is playable in mario super sluggers
this is so awesome and interesting. i cant overstate how much i love learning about random useless statistics from video games.. pls keep it up
The fact goomba isnt in any karting games is very upsetting. Goomba is THE guy.
It’s hard to drive a kart with no arms
great video! I learned a lot and am surprised how many mario characters were 1 offs. I’m also surprised toad is in less than bowser and DK, though I guess it makes sense considering he’s the host of a bunch of them, just feel like they could have used like yellow toad or something
13:00 baby daisy is in Mario super sluggers
Excellent video.
Koopa kid, Toad, Boo and Koopa are all playable in Mario party 4’s beach volley folly minigame in extra mode
I actually thought about including that, but then thought against it. Although I probably should have since I included the characters only playable in one Olympic Event in Rio Olympics
@@wishfulranger22 makes sense, also I forgot to mention that Donkey Kong is playable in Mario Party 5’s Super Duel mode.
And also Mario Party E, it’s a Mario party game for the E-reader, every character from Mario Party 4 is playable besides Luigi and Peach
21:50 I can’t help but notice the preferred appearance type for Metal Mario being labeled “insert” for a while at first
Will you be able to share your spreadsheet?
Baby Daisy was actually playable on Mario Super Sluggers
0:54 I love how everyone looked at the screen when he said “and then”
Petey Piranha is somehow the coolest character in strikers charged by FAR like he has so much confidence that nothing else matters except how hard he is currently kicking your ass in the singleplayer mode
So why did you count Cat Peach as a one-timer?
She was in Wii U 8 DLC and is currently in 8 Deluxe.
Me personally, I think the Mario and Luigi series should count towards the 6 playable character there such as Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Bowser, and that one beginning area in one of them, Toad
You forgot paper mario from paper jam
