When I was a kid I played Pokémon with all the kids in my neighborhood. The oldest guy of the group would act out all the Pokémon sounds and even do the acting when we battled. It was the happiest time of my life. I felt like a real Pokémon trainer. I used to make my own Pokémon cards from notebook paper. And write down my teams moves that I played with in our imagination. It was literally the most amazing time of my life. I strayed away from Pokémon after high school. 5 years later now I wanna hop back in and be a Pokémon master of all the games out there. So I bought a new 3DS XL and Switch. This was a great video. The exact kind Of content I’ve been looking for! Yeah 😎

How I like to play is to feel like I'm the character itself and my pokemon are characters similar to how the pokemon anime is. My focus is always to be the best, and unlike many people, not to fill the pokedex. I only like having six pokemon to feel closer to them and give them some personality. I like having a diverse team, but with only exception of allowing myself to have a max. of two flying types. I like my team to be diverse in design aswell and dont really care about stats. For example, my recent playthrough of galar was Cinderace(my best friend and first/most powerful pokemon)
, Gardevior(My Cinderace's best teammate and my second pokemon), Unfezant( My third, the lone serious over the top cocky badass), Noivern(my fourth, the large gentle giant and extremely caring )and lastly Sudowoodo and Pangoro ( unexpected bestfriends, that grew together consider themselves as equals and are the goofy comedic, yet powerful duo of the team who care for eachother as if they were brothers)

Same. Plus I always imagine my pokemon walking alonside me as we journey through a region and the bigger ones just go back into their pokeballs when I'm in a space that so obviously would not fit them or maybe when they tire out from walking long distances. It's just the tiny things that you imagine in your mind that make Pokemon the best as it is.

I feel like the way I play Pokemon is kind of a bit of everything. When it comes to the main series, at least. Im not too big into the spinoffs and don't follow the TCG or Anime anymore.
I enjoy playing through them and try to build a team of Pokemon I haven't used a lot yet. I currently want to play through every Pokémon game I have so I can form a solid opinion on all of them. When playing through a Pokemon game, I always try to pick some Pokémon I really want to use and then fill the remaining spots with Pokémon that balance out my Team. I create a chart listing my current Team on Top, and what enemy Types they can or can't deal with well. I do this to see what Pokémon are beneficial for my team to add. For example, I want to use Torterra and Girafarig on my Pearl team, so I filled the remaining spots with Pokémon that counter the Types they can't really deal with, like Staraptor, Lucario, etc. Its not a perfect method for creating Teams, but I don't really want to have a perfect Pokémon team either. I don't like doing nuzlockes because I prefer building a Team of Pokemon that *I* organize. I do try to make the game as challenging as possible by other means, like turning the EXP Share off, changing the battle style to Set, and even refusing to use healing items to my Pokemon during Trainer Battles.
When it comes to competitive Pokémon, Im not really too good at it, but I still do like to battle and see what is going on in the meta. Being a "casual competitive Pokémon player" is probably the reason I stopped using healing items in battle. It just seems like cheating to me. I still do use them outside of battle, im not that crazy.
I also sometimes shiny hunt. Once again, im not too into it but I still do it when I want to. This means that I don't hunt full odds and use the Masuda Method and Shiny Charm) My first non-forced shiny was a shiny Marill in 2017. Since I never hatched a shiny Pokémon before, my reaction was insane - I screamed and ran across the entire room! After that, I attempted a lot of hunts that I never finished, like trying to hatch a shiny Chatot, get a Caterpie or Rockruff per SOS Chaining and soft resetting for a shiny Nihilego. After a while, I ended up stop hunting all together. Then, when my favorite Pokemon ever, Slowpoke, got a new regional form (and a new, really cool shiny with it) I started to hunt it, and eventually, I managed to get it! My reaction was so loud that my dad entered my room and asked if I was okay. Keep in mind that it was almost 3 years since I got the Marill.
I don't want to shiny hunt too much because I want to continue to have these insane rushes when I do get a shiny, but I am currently trying to breed a shiny Galarian Yamask while listening to music, and its pretty fun.
When it comes to the main series, I basically dig into every corner it can offer. Its my favorite Game franchise of all time for a reason.
This comment ended up being way longer than I first expected buut yeah

When I started watching LP's, it reinvigorated my interest in the series, which i'd stopped playing for a while. And various videos have given me ideas of what I can do differently on each playthrough to keep things exciting. I loved your comment on the music especially. I'm actually quite similar-my love of pokemon comes from the Pokemon themselves, and the world. I love wondering what characters from other franchises and whatnot would have for a pokemon team, and in terms of staying in touch with the community, I haven't really since black and white, and with Dexit.....at first it was fun with all the back and forth but now I'm just exhausted and stick around mostly for the memes. In terms of starters I almost always go for fire type-the one time I didn't was gen 5 when I went with Serperior and named him Severus, and in Gen 7 with Decidueye. This was a GREAT video!

That what a fun video, hope to see more in the future from other pokètubers. I also take my time with the games, explore the new region, catch some new pokèmon. Outside of the games, i listen to pokèmon music on my way home from work and occasionally when i work. I watch the anime, i used to collect the tcg, but stopped. I also started reading the Pokèmon Adventures manga last year and its become my favorite part of the franchise.

What's funny to me is when I'm just playing Pokemon then enter into a cave, city, or something else, then the music reminds me of your videos. For instance, the music in the dark cave in HeartGold sounds exactly like music that I once heard in one of your videos.
And for, looking at fan art of Pokemon is a big way that I experience it, along with playing the games, and watching videos about it too.

    Cheers for the vid, mate!

Sounds like you and I have some pretty similar play styles! One of my favorite ways to enjoy the series outside of the games is to collect the toys. I'm already a toy collector, and I've always loved seeing what the Pokémon company is coming up with next!

As a kid I used to go through the games as fast as possible up to gen 5. But after that I started exploring more of the regions and the Pokémon and their lore. Even when I was a kid the music would get stuck in my head and today I listen to Pokémon music almost every day. When I think about it, I actually enjoy every part of Pokémon. The games, side games, fan games, the anime and I even know a few things about the manga. You can say I simply love Pokémon!

I was always wondering whether other players are so addicted to the music from Pokémon games as I am. I guess I have my answer now. :)
The way you play Pokémon games reminds me of myself. You pointed out many details that I've really enjoyed about playing Pokémon all my life. I'm 29 years old and I still don't spend a single day in my life without being influenced by Pokémon. Nowadays I'm working on hacks where I implement ideas for Fake Pokémon and attacks that I've been collecting throughout the last 18 years. And I really enjoy doing challenges like the battle frontier or other institutions in older games again after many years. It's all about keeping the franchise fresh for yourself by keeping an overview about the great amount of things you can do. :)

It gave me everything I always wanted from pokemon and I'm actually glad it took me so long to get into it, because it let me relive some of mt favorite moments from the games in a fresh new way.

Thanks for sharing with us! I really liked your video, so much that it actually restored my love for the franchise. To be honest, i lost some of my desire to play recently. At some point, i started to take the game too seriously. Doing mindless grinding and IV/EV training for no particular reason, and even removing the audio during some sections. Now i feel stupid...
I will replay some of the older games, using the pokémons that i never used before, while paying close attention to the music as well. So again, thank you very much! ^o^

The way I play is basically identical to yours (though I always nickname my Pokemon, even on first runs.) I can enjoy a Pokemon game as long as I like the Pokemon I'm using. I can't tell you how many times I've restarted Pokemon games, but given up because I don't feel the bond between me and my Pokemon.
It's lead to burnout a lot, but after I don't play for a few weeks (or sometimes even months) when I come back, it feels like rediscovering a passion all over again.
I love Pokemon lore, and if a Pokemon has a cool inspiration, then I can love it and put it on my team.
I would totally listen to more Pokemon music, but I don't have a phone and all my headphones are either janky, painful to wear, or both.

!!! I'm very similar to you in this regard haha. I always keep my starter, I don't usually collect Pokémon and just catch and use ones I plan on using the whole time not just temporarily. And Pokémon sword was the first ever game I actually caught every single Pokémon in the region and completed the Dex, it was very satisfying! I think like you it was just exciting to see all of their unique little animations and see the new mons haha.

I play for the thrill of exploration and seeing new creatures wherever I go to! I love the feeling of building this “collection” (idk what to call it) of Pokémon which is also why I’m a big shiny hunter! When it comes to team building I want to have a well rounded team but I keep it light and if I have more than one type, that’s fine, I build teams on what I think looks cool or of what I like and their types! Which that plays into my three Dark types on my UsUm team! Incineroar, Sableye, and Bisharp! Everyone experiences Pokémon a different way and I love it!!!

My wife and I now play with a team of 18 and rotate between them, sometimes replacing one. Being a bit underlevelled makes battles harder and more tactical, and if we get too behind there's exp share and Pokepelago. Nuzlocke never appealed to us but this is a great alternative.

For me, when I play the newest game, I catch every new mon I come across and just make a team of the ones I love the most. Like you, I always keep my starter. It just feels wrong to not use them. All playthroughs after the first are Nuzlockes
The Nuzlocke community is a very important part of my life and the challenge itself makes Pokemon games so much more fun and interesting to me.
When I'm not playing the games, I enjoy Pokemon in other ways through making Nuzlocke comics and Fakemon, as well as looking at others' comics and Fakemon too

I play Pokemon because I enjoy raising pet monsters and Pokemon is the one example that always entertains me in that aspect. That's why it's my favourite franchise. Of course that's not the only reason. Ever since gen5 I greatly look forward to the characters and story. It was then where the writers really tried to make a good story and I was growing up and I started to really enjoy and inmerse myself in stories and appreciating character development. That's also why gen6 felt a little disappointing, but gen7 and gen8 have been my favourites. And of course I also love the music, and I love that the past few games have had a more variety of styles thanks to the multiple composers. That's how I discovered your channel as well.

I always chose the grass type starter, my brother the fire starter and my friend the water starter from there we make our teams from every region. I miss those days from my childhood, even though they don’t play Pokémon anymore I still do and I still make up a team for them. My first Pokemon game was XY (I got a late start). And I remember the first point in the game where I began paying attention to the music was really Laverre city. Ever since select towns in pokemon games left a greater impact on me than others. Even now alot of my favorite pokemon themes are town themes
