I had big problems when I first got my Predator. So much so, I am ashamed to say it just sat in my closet for a while. Well, I was determined to make it work.
Today, I am proud to say, I just loaded and fired properly a dozen times in a row, practicing on empty gallon water jugs. Here is the trick: once you have the band in both hands, use momentum and pull it back as FAST as you can. That's what i was doing wrong. I was trying to gingerly pull it back slowly, which requires twice the strength.

See my post. It is all technique. I was feeling a like a weakling until I realized what I was doing wrong. Also, one of those suits with the loading pad built into the chest really helps. You have to be able to pull the bands straight back, and FAST. If you put the gun at an angle to your arms, for instance, with the butt against your thighs, and pull back slowly, it will NEVER load. Just too much work. I was pulling back, then slowing down to make sure the band was engaging the tab.

how much line should you wrap around line release? should you have extra line rather than too short?

Great question +Kanti123 - Enough tension to hold your spear to the barrel - Here's a page that'll help determine the length of your shooting line: www.makospearguns.com/rigging-shooting-line-open-muzzle_a/257.htm

I must be ultra weak. I have tried this several times, and I cannot for the life of me do this. I hold the bands with one hand and the butt with the other, and cannot get the gun over to my chest, I'm just not strong enough. That initial motion of grabbing the butt of the gun with one hand and the band with the other and moving the gun to your chest takes strength, I have tried everything and it just slips because my arms are not strong enough. Any help here is greatly appreciated

+PTBCANADIAN It truly is technique over strength, but if it continues to be a challenge, check out our band charts - we ship our spearguns with 'medium' length bands, but you may want to look into making a set of longs to get you up and going: www.makospearguns.com/Band-Length-Chart_a/303.htm

So, lower or rear band on forward notch first, then forward (upper) band on rear notch second, or it doesn't matter? I guess I have to try the four possible options...what about the two bands on the same notch? I feel like the band that is the most stretched, therefore on the rear notch, is doing all the work and the other band is lagging behind and doing nothing.
