    Hello Rob.i Just bought one of your guns.its a great build sure.But I have been a Builder for 36 years and am not so weak but oh my I cannot load this as the butt of your gun is so streamline and small .Some feed back .offer a pad for the chest.i will return the gun tomorrow as I don't think buying a longer rubber for less power was the point.Again beautiful gun the Scorpia rail 700 but not for me.

    Good morning, I have a speargun I made. It's a wooden 110 cm, the shaft is 160 cm with 2x16 mm rubbers. The length of the rubbers are 26 inches. My question is can I use 14mm rubbers when this setup? And would I cut them at the same length as the 16mm. Is the original setup okay?

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Shark, it is not possible for me to make suggestions as I do not know the dimensions related to how and where you spear sits in relation to the rubbers. Our 110cm gun would use a 150 length spear. The spear length and the spear diameter will have a big effect. Going smaller diameter with the rubbers will change the power. If you were over powering the spear with the 16mm rubbers then the 14mm would be better. If it was already under powered it will become more under powered. I hope this helps.

    I wish I could say I found it helpful. You said you’re using a longer band and a shorter gun but I bought your Kobe speargun. It’s a long gun with a short band that technique does not work on it. I wish you could show us a real video of you using the band that the gun comes with, thank you though

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  6 місяців тому

      This video is purely to show beginners the technique. Once you learn the proper technique it becomes easy. If it is the Cobia gun you are having problems with it should not be the case as these have light 16mm rubber. You will need to change out the rubber if you fine it to hard to load. Try with a 14mm for now. One you have mastered the technique you will find it easy to load. As mentioned in the video, it is not about strength but much more about getting the technique right.

      @@RobAllenSpearfishing thank you so much for your reply. I’m not trying to be a jerk or anything like that. I will order some 14 mm bands from my local supplier I’m going to watch the video again and try your technique but these bands are so short and stiff. it just pushes the gun off my chest. I am able to successfully load it, but it takes brute strength and my chest hurts after the easiest way for me to load it is to shove it in between my thighs. I have more leverage that way. I’ve loaded plenty of my friends guns before and it never has been this hard is there an email address or something that I can take a picture or a video of me loading my gun I’m just wondering if I got the rent wrong bans on it my brother weighs 240 pounds mostly muscle and he can barely load it. I’m 190 pounds 5 foot six very in shape very strong with the shortness of the bands and how stiff they are. I really don’t see how using that technique is going to help but I will keep trying. I know you said it’s not about strength. I keep trying that technique and the bands just don’t let that technique work with my gun. I just don’t know how I’m gonna be able to load it in the water. This is my first gun that I’ve bought I’ve pole spared for 10 years now. and hoping to take the next step with your speargun. is there any videos of you guys using this technique with the actual bands that the gun comes with that would be a great video and more helpful than this one since as you guys said in the video you’re not using the band that the gun came with, so how can this instructional video be accurate? I feel like if it wasn’t hard to load your gun with the bands that it came with that you would’ve made a video that shows you loading one of your guns with the bands that it came with one of these videos would be amazing. thank you for your time. I’m going to figure this out. I have no choice.

    • @livetofish5601
      @livetofish5601 6 місяців тому

      I rewatch the video to try the technique again the band he’s using is super fluffy super pliable my band does not flex like that. I’m just curious how many millimeter band that is cause that’s nothing like the one I have super stiff super short that one kind of flops around in the video, mine doesn’t have a chance of moving like that one it’s black I don’t know if that means anything to you on what type of band is the one in the video is blue did your supplier just give me the wrong band?

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  6 місяців тому

      @@livetofish5601 Hi again, It is possible that the bands on your gun are wrong? Please email me on rob@roballen.co.za or, message here. Give me the barrel length and rubber length. The colour does not make a difference, it is just the pigment. I also can not be certain that the rubber has been changed after it left the factory here.
      In that video as explained, the rubbers are long just for the demonstration. I needed to talk and show the technique at the same time of pulling on the rubber. Believe me when I say it is much more about technique than strength. It is also a movement you need to get familiar with. Keeping the hands in the correct position and using the thumbs when too tight. I can send you a video loading a way stronger rubber. We sell 20mm rubbers. this was what I started diving with. It hurt like hell to load but the chest eventually gets used to it. Today most wear a wetsuit with a loading pad so it helps pad the chest.
      I did crack my breast bone 40 years ago trying to load the "wrong rubber" It was sold to me as an 18mm. I cut it too short. There were lots of fish around and I was struggling to load. I eventually did but broke or separated ribs from my breast plate. After measuring the rubber properly it was 22mm.

    • @roballen1578

      Hi Tom. There is no exact size. It is more about what fish you are hunting and how clean the water is. Anything from a 90cm to a 110cm will do, maybe go in the middle and get a 100cm.

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Mathew, Mono can and does take a set. If you stretch it out and leave it in the sun a few hours, it should sort it. The coil obviously took a set while being stored a long time. Worst is when it is spooled tight in a small diameter. Long term, if you just leave it on your gun under the tension of the bungee it should come right after a week or so. I hope this helps.

      You can upgrade to a rail barrel no problem. Just make sure the shaft is the right length. A 1100 barrel needs a shaft of 1500.
