    Great video. You missed a small but crucial detail. When your palm is downwards, you are using smaller fine muscles on the front of your shoulders and when palms are up you are using the coarse back muscles of your back. Easier on your shoulders. Very easy to feel the difference if your bands are setup very short.

    Very good explanation. When I started I had an Ocean Rhino. I could dry load it in the garage via hip, but it was a chore. When I got in the water I couldn't load it, no hard Earth beneath my feet and that little bit made a big difference.
    I then stumbled into chest loading and it made every bit of difference. The last bit of pulling on hip loading is with the weakest muscle group for me.
    Now I freedive with a Salvamar Hero 105 and chest loading is perfect. I think chest loading for me capitalizes on my better muscle areas.

    Hi Aaron- hopefully you see this. Just got my new gun and the bands are so tight I cannot load it in the water and barely get it loaded on the boat. Should I load it and leave it for a while loaded to stretch the bands??

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  28 днів тому +2

      It should be easier to load in the water if you get the technique down. Are you chest loading? The bands will soften up a little but not a lot. You could get a tiny bit longer bands. Or a smaller diameter. I have a video later this week about a load assist which may help. If you go too much bigger or stretch the bands out a bunch you are sacrificing power and range.

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  26 днів тому +1

      Depends on the gun. More bands more range. We have bluewater guns that shoot a lot further for open water spearing.

  • @philloridickenson3380
    @philloridickenson3380 28 днів тому +1

    Someone kinda answered this in a prev comment but on a dual band gun it looks like you always grab (what appears to be) the band farthest from the butt and pull it under the other band and load it on the shark fin closest to the shaft’s tip. Is that correct? I’m assuming it balances out the stretch a tiny bit?

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  27 днів тому

      that is correct, its not required to do it that way but I think the band lay along the gun a little cleaner.

    • @chris_bjj123
      @chris_bjj123 28 днів тому +1

      watch the video he put out before this one. All about rigging. As far as bands.. On a two band gun, I load the furthest band from me first, through (under) the other band and onto the first tab (farthest from the trigger) and then the second farthest band to the nearest to me tab.

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  26 днів тому

      The videos this week should hopefully clear some of that up. The rigging video i posted a couple days ago shows how the line should lay on the BG. Just have to go down and back twice instead of once. I personally like dyneema but most like mono so we rig them with mono.

    • @KeyWestWaterman
      @KeyWestWaterman  28 днів тому +2

      I load the top band to the closest notch and then so on. But depends on the amount of bands and notches. Etc. but on most guns it doesn’t matter

    Hey Aaron, curious if any spear guns are made of Carbon Fiber. Maybe not since it's a float problem, but I would think they could cork the inside to make it more powerful and lighter. Just a thought.........and my silly space brain.
