Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- In this video Matt and Ilya make a falchion for Skallagrim. This is a full build episode compiled from the 8 part series we did last year of making the sword. WE show the forging of the blade, the grinding of the blade and grinding the fullers, heat treat the sword, forging the guard and pommel and how to do a wire wrapped sword handle. Skallagrim then tests the sword at the end by cutting some tatami mats. Please visit his channel and watch the video of him doing the full break down of the sword with commentary. • Here it is... The Skal...

Thanks for watching! It’s been a long time coming! Be sure to head over to Skallagrim’s channel to see his full testing video!
Really loved the video but will still be watching the whole series. Want to be a bladesmith myself and I really value your tips and teaching!
been waiting specifically for the latest vid, want to see all the finishing touches not preseent in the first 7 vids.
Please consider a collab with michael the giant swort maker , i know i ask this again but i cant image how just how cool the sword or whatever you guys will create.
I have found only 7 parts of making this blade. The final one seems to be missing?
Vladimir Semyonov I was including Skallagrim’s video
Other tube smiths: "The fine control of this powerhammer is crucial for the precision of-"
Illya: WHAP WHAP WHAP WHAP WHAP
Oh I laughed harder than I should have at that
Precision whapage
Conference is the name of the game.
Give em the W H A P
And he’s still a better smith than most all of them, I have yet to find one better is why I say most
Been following this project for so long now, the sword came out fantastic, Skall is a lucky man
Thank you! It felt really good to finally see it in his hands
@@ThatWorks Yeah it was great to see his first impressions, I hope he does another video once he's had more time with it. As a fan of both channels, It was epic to see you collaborate. Look forward to what is next.
How long did it take? ManAtArms made it seem so fast
@@sunsoar1822 he just put it into some far off corner... never did understand why they made it for him anyway...
I've been wanting new Man at Arms stuff for ages.
Then Skallagrim mentions Matt and Ilya....and here I am.
Marthinus Dawid van Rooyen welcome!
Same here. Glad Skall mentioned them as I was an avid MaA watcher.
Matt's seriously flexin with those free-handed fullers
2 ez
He's really something else with that grinder. Who needs a lathe, right?
@@mrkiky you would probably use a mill actually, i dont see how you could use a lathe to make a fuller, i mean where theirs a will theres a way, but i think itl be pretty tough haha
@@mrkiky mills spin the bit and moves the part, lathes spin the part and move the bit
@@mrkiky unless you got a 4 axis lathe laying around haha
Life goal: Make a sword like this one.
So far I'm sticking to knives since I still lack the tools and experience for a proper sword, BUT...
One day.
Okay not one day, no way am I gonna finish a sword in just a day, but you know what I mean...
Lasnight you have to believe !
Hell yeah dude
You can totally build a sword in one day. A very long day and only after many years of practice and building. It’s also not going to be particularly ornate or likely beautiful. Also, if you can make a knife, a sword is well within your abilities, especially if you just build a materials removal blade from a decent sized blank. Heat treat and normalize in your home oven with an auxiliary thermometer.
Obviously this isn’t as easy a my words suggest and there will be many, many failures along the way.
with a power of friendship!
Ilya and you matt are legendary.
It's been a _year!?_
_...dear god, I'm older..._
/ Snow yea I know right?! This has been one hell of a crazy year.
Yeah, we've waited the better part of a decade for the serpent in the sword series to finish. This wait was nothing
No wonder why Skall fell in love at first sight with the blade (we could see his viking blood firing up)
And this was the most beautiful pommel forging I have ever seen (worthy of Skall)
gustavo argumanis that was my favorite part too
Now we just need to see him end someone rightly with it.
Amazing Video. loved the Premier!
been wishing Ilya would do some armor work on this channel.
ever since I saw Ilya win Forged in Fire with that amazing Spiked shield and Gauntlet. i've been dreaming of seeing more!
I know, i want more detailed instruction on how to make armour so i can become a knight
Would be cool to see they build something like that
Sir Charles he will make some armor at some point. Just need room to set up his armoring tools. Soon!
@@ThatWorks Sick, all the armourist videos on youtube currently don't explain the process or anything, it will be great hearing you guys go into detail with it
What season n episode?? I wanna watch it
That is a beautiful piece. I mean, holy lord above that’d make an heirloom piece to pass down in my family for generations. Nice.
Yeah that isn't what a normal foot soldier would have been using. Swords like those were for nobility.
The fact Illya does a lot of his work without gloves is both really awesome and nerve racking
In the among us episode when he smacked that glowing hot billet I was like wtf😱
@@matthewgresham7060 Glowing hot metal isn't brave enough to burn Ilya. It's know he can snuff out it's heat with a mere thought.
If I had caught this series at the start I would've watched it all the way through...
Star Scapes you still can
3 people doesn't like this video because that's not a pommel to end people rightly with.
As a long time fan of both BKS and Skall,
I never even dreamed of one day seeing you guys work together,
this just blew my mind!
What a beautiful piece, into a skillful hand,
this is the best thing comes out of 2020 so far.
12:22 - just imagine how much that spinning pommel would end them rightly if Matt dropped it!
Jamie M I’ve dropped one into a bucket of water before. It was pretty awesome
i hate that you went there, a month before i thought of it and came down to see it already said. well played.
Been with Skal since before he hit 100k, and all I can say is you guys are badass for doing this.
That sword is amazing . I watched all the vids . Your crew's craftsmanship is absolute top notch . I really like the anime type of weapons , but historical recreation swords is better in my opinion . I really enjoy you show the methods they would have used. Please do more of these types of vids in the future .
bryan faulkenburg thank you! I myself like a balance between fantasy and history in most pieces.
That sword is a true masterpiece. 👌
Kasper Fox thank you
I think we all know that Ilya is an AMAZING smith, but, damn son, your skills at grinding really shine in this video. That's a truly beautiful piece you guys made!
grinding those fullers man. Real skill there.
Ha! Tricks on u, I've already seen all the skalchion episodes. Jokes aside, loving this sword and can't wait for the next weapon creation.
Adam Lor it’s already in the works
I've been following Skallagrims Channel for about two years now and that sword really took my breath away! So beautiful.... Yet, so deadly. Fantastic job!
that fuller grinding , omg matt you are incredible, both of you really, great job
watched them all and loved watching it take shape...it has been a treat
That black and copper wire handle is so lovely.
Seriously awesome blade, the craftsmanship is out of this world
I was particularly taken with Ilya's swage work. Despite watching a lot of blacksmithing, I haven't seen much like this. It looks like a very turn-me-into-a-grownup build.
The colors of this entire build were magical. Well done gents!
Seen Skalls vid and now a buid-re-view.... awesome!
Cant wait to see the live chat ;)
Froschn Maximus thanks for the support ! Stay tuned!
That was awesome I really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing.
You guys did absolutely beautiful work. I'm glad the goblins of the Canadian post didn't bury it for all eternity.
A very nice Falchion. I quite like the various music tracks you have playing in the background of your videos. They add some flavor to each moment.
You both totally nailed it, the skallsion is beautiful
Fantastic work! And, after watching Skallagrim's video and then seeing him cutting with it? Whew! What a powerful beast! You are True Masters at work. Making such incredible craftsmanship look easy, guys. Awesome!
Auballagh Wolfsbane thank you! It was pretty exciting seeing him cut with it
Wow guys. Beautiful. My friend Skall will love it!
1:12 its unbeliveable and amasing that this beautiful sword that made for a long time even started with a simple, nasty piece of metal
(i hope you understand, I dont speak english well)
"It's unbelievable and amazing that this beautiful sword, which took so long to make, started out as a simple, nasty piece of metal!"
Heill ok sæll!
Thoroughly Enjoyed !! Thanks for posting ...
Verrachi truly!
Loved every part of this. I have been following since the beginning. This was wonderful to see.
Matt's grinding is perfect it's so smooth and shines better then a new Lambo with fresh coat paint teach us your ways matt 😁
I watch a lot of forging videos, I think the person who is the true steel wizard are Ilya, he makes it look soooo easy. And he masters other skills to, engraving is one. The sound it made when Skall cut with it was better than the fake sound in movies. It was the soul of the blade that screamed, "I Got You". Thanks!!!!
That is a legendary blade. I am dumbfounded by the level of craftsmanship displayed here
@@Thomas.Wright based on v3.5 guidelines, it's at least a +8 I'd say: +3 for mastercrafted, and I think it would be about +5 for what seems to be a keen enchantment.
Its one very strange looking sword when I ever seen.Fantastic !
давно небыло такой смертоносной вещицы !! спасибо Илья !
Master craftsmanship right here, great work guys.
Ooh, I have to say - I really like the music.
Still loving that spinning grinding technique for that pommel. Great build
Chris Mac thank you
Skallagrim is a lucky guy to get his hands on that piece. Amazing work. Very cool collaboration. I don’t think something so perfect could be made in the “old days.”
Guys did an excellent job. Thanks for sharing.
super nice.. can't wait to see the full build. heading there now love making swords too.... that first cut...
Keep it up! Gettin better every vid! Good job yo!
Definitely one of my favorite builds from this crew.
Such a beautiful job, well done!
That fuller grinding was seriously impressive Matt. Very cool piece.
I am speechless! Fantastic piece of work Guys!
The music in the last half around the pommel and hilt seriously reminded me of Halo music and I love it
Great and beautiful work team!!
I've watched a few of your videos randomly in the past but after seeing this beautiful sword in Skallagrim's video I knew I had to come subscribe. I'm positive I will enjoy bingeing your videos in the next week or so.
Thank you for all the work and passion you put into this blade, as I'm sure you do all of your pieces.
Cheers!
These two men are awesome to watch work. Great video👍
After seeing Skall praise this sword so much, I have to subscribe. He doesn't dish out that much praise for no reason! I know nothing about sword smithing but man, you guys are amazing! Time to binge everything you've done!
Probably the most precise build I've ever seen you do, nice work!
Master team!! Outstanding work boys!!
Absolutely love it. Thank you!!!
Amazing work!
you guys are awesome for doing this!!
Great work!!! True craftsmanship!!! Masters of your skill
Beautiful piece of work, gentlemen. Keep these great videos coming.
Beautiful sword! Great work!
Awesome video guys 👏
Fantastic Sword. Nice work guys.
awesome! Glad I found you guys through him!
Awesome sword, I'm definitely going to have to watch the full length series, to see exactly how this was done. Thanks for another amazing video!
I just watched the 6 hours of it yesterday haha... great for filling time in quarantine
Looks great in Skal's video! Nicely done!!
This was an awesome series!!
What a beauty.... You guys are awesome.
Absolutely astonishing blade excellent work guys

Long time not watch ilya & friend making something. Finally, you did it guys. God bless you all. Stay away from the viruses
A saword that can take on any opponent, a masterpiece for battle
Ah! a beauty! well done.
Oh boy what a beauty!
Awesome! You guys are awesome.
Absolutely superb work ! So jealous of Skallagrim right now ! ^^
He makes it look effortless. crazy stuff!
I love that you have your own channel!
Love to see masters in their own craft
Amazing!! I watched his video already, he loves it too. Well done guys.
Barbarian Jon it was pretty sweet to get the video notification and to finally see him with the sword
Beautiful Blade!
That first swing surprised him. 😃🙏🏼🖖🏻👍🏼🤘🏻🦾✊🏻
Fantastic work you are truly craftsmen great bid too
Amazing work. Stunning.
I really like this style of video. It's certainly cool that you have an 8 part detailed series for this but for a non-blacksmith I appreciate the cliffs notes version that hits all the highlights.
Been looking for you guys this whole time
This is such a careful and intricate build! I definitely want to watch the full series to learn the story of this sword!
Well worth the wait
Simply amazing and totally inspiring! I have been bit by the sword making bug! Your control with the power hammer is insane and the tight radius grinding wheel "mind blown" well done guys! Masters for sure.
That falcion looks *so good*.
You guys are absolute artists
You guys done a really great job
Why am i just now finding you guys! Been dying to see the greatest again after the end of MAA
Amazing!
Skall was just super happy :) amazing job on the sword it cuts good and looks badass
