      I disagree. Stockton Rush may have been willfully blind and invincibly ignorant. He may have hired fresh faces to maintain a sense of plausible deniability about the shortcomings of the Titan. By not seeing things that he did not want to see, Stockton Rush may have never learned the dangers that he faced. Not that he deserves any sympathy for this.

    This man, Rush, should not in any way be lionized to be some great explorer. His hubris and greed killed innocent people because he felt that he knew better than everyone else. I truly appreciate the in-depth information that is being provided. But it angers me to hear about him being described in these courageous terms When he murdered people. The mother gave up her seat to the poor kid. How incredibly sad. I think it's really crummy that both parents had planned on going. NONE of them should have been on that tin can. When you are a parent you have a responsibility NOT to be reckless with your health and safety. For people that appear to have been so smart they made the worst decision of their lives. He wasn’t a test pilot, he was a test engineer. He couldn’t have flown a f-15 and later find out hs eyesight wasn’t good enough, he’d have known before he flew. And while civilians can fly fighter jets in certain circumstances, they’re usually ex-military pilots so it’s unlikely that, even if his eyesight was good enough, he’d be picked to fly the jet.

    • @Davinhomx
      @Davinhomx Рік тому +2

      @@Threefoldawareness no he did not. My guy, stockton was probably higer educated then both of us. He wasn't just interested in the submersible industrie, he build his own submersibles and had his own company in that field. Let alone that he came from the aircraft industrie and was a pilot so he knows better about carbon fiber then we do. It takes us two videos max after this happened to know that the form of the sub was crucially false and also to know that carbon fiber is the wrong material for a sub. Don't you think he knew that too?. If you really think there was anything reasonable behind what he did you are wrong. The problem is that he set a goal for himself. In his mind the submersible industrie for the public would be bigger then the space industrie for the public in the future. So he tried something and he failed (that's how I see it). He never actually wanted to go to the titanic but he learned very fast that people aren't really interested in going down 500 ft somewhere around a coastline and that his buisness that he thought could be bigger then spacetourism in the future was a small niche at best. He ubderestimated that people interested in the ocean would rather take a diving class. So he came up with the titanic idea. Something truly special you can't see even if scubadiving. He prolly invested huge amounts of money into it but ran into problems. And it was all downhill from there. I bet he thought he some day could make it more safe, but before then he risked it. Cause it was either "company is dead and you stop and end your dream of beeing the biggest player in a field that only exists in your head (but there it does) in the future. Or you risk it". That's prolly more of his way of thinkin. And he risked it. Cause he wanted the media attention to make the name oceangate a brand to then deliver sub tourism all over the world. He needed those dives to be "the player" in the future (a future that only existed in his head). And he failed. He willingly failed. He damn sure was thinkin "in the future as a big brand I can build better subs, I can build more subd, I can destroy subs after to many dives"...but first he needed the money. So he just threw all he knew out of the window and went all in on the poker table. Sucks that the ocean had a royal flush

    When the glass manufacturer will NOT certify the glass of the porthole for the depth that you're going, you're not hitting "milestones"; you're ignoring them. Miles needs to re-evaluate whether he's capable of properly evaluating subs. It seems more likely that he got caught up in the excitement of everything and gave it a better bill of health than it should've gotten, especially when the glass manufacturer's certification was for a much more shallow depth.

    No insurer would touch this enterprise. The French Man, probably lured his' fellow crew men' by his presence. The .Mother Ship' behaved like a bunch of amateurs. The transit to the site, towing the Titan on a pontoon! What sort of battering would that entail?
    Once the descent commenced, the rate of descent should have screamed 'ABORT'. Instead, nothing but depth reports confirming the incorrect rate of descent. If the 'trim' of the vessel was not evenly distributed, then, maybe, it's attitude might have accellerated a more rapid rate of descent - who knows.. It certainly does not help to have a moveable payload! To disturb Centre of Gravity conditions during the descent. We should not be talking about such fundamental issues! Ugh! I feel so sorry for those who have lost their loved ones.

    The only saving grace for Stockton Rush is that he really believed he was correct. That is clear because he was in the vessel and “went down with the ship” if you will. Pushing the boundaries is risky for sure, but it is this pushing of boundaries that leads to new methods and possibly more efficient ways. That being said, his arrogance and ignoring of the warnings makes him culpable and liable for the deaths of these people.

    Have you noticed looking at the images, that just about everyone that died in that sub, had worn those strange bike like helmets at one time or another? Something tells me before Stockton started wearing one, that he most likely banged his head one to many times before wearing one. My guess, his insane risks came from not wearing a helmet until it was too late, and maybe being dropped on his head when a baby? Or not dropped enough times?

    Id hate to go out that way even if was quick and painless tho wonder if they were aware trying to submerge or couldn't escape the dark depths humans can't breathe that much water or pressure afterall.

      The alarms were going off and the carbon fiber was cracking. They attempted to resurface and couldn't due to mechanical problems. They knew implosion was imminent

    I PRAY FOR THEIR SOULS, all 5 of them. this has been so horrific, and pray for their families that are left behind. try not judge Stockton Rush too harshly, for we know not what his issues were. We know he made some horrible mistakes but we know not what his mind and condition was in. Prayers for everyone. ty GOD!

      Dozens were telling him for years that this vessel would kill anyone on board. A few months prior to this incident, his chief engineer was fired for telling him the problems Titan had. This end was inevitable for Rush.
