Nothing awkward about it! There’s nothing wrong with a good company and a good UA-cam channel getting together in shared appreciation, that ends in cheap marketing on both sides. Good on you! Maybe one day I’ll be home at 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon for the 13 seconds an atom is available for purchase before a camped out fanboy gets his 10th, to, “round out” his collection, or sell it on eBay for double the price.

Mine Newtron chipped right out of the box haha. 17 degree per side on the KME. Hasn't hit anything but the 6-.5 micron handmade strops since. Solid 4 months of under the toenail scrappin strong.

Good luck trying to actually buy one. It took me over a year to get an Atom. Everytime they have a production run, they sell out in 10 minutes.
Last atom drop lasted almost 2 hours, they’re doing a much better job having larger drops now with a slightly lower demand as the Shabazz effect has settled

I was curious when you’d get your hands on one. Personally I think the neutron is better, but I like my knives 3 inches or under.
Awww poor Ada. Glad they sent you that Neutron since it cures flu or beer virus. I personally prefer 3.5 inch blades or larger but make an exception here & there. Those scales look great & some here in comments say they are micarta. Even better if so. I haven't been sick but might be worth it if they would send me one. Feel better !

red handles on knives are a designation for 'trainers', which are blunt objects for martial arts/combatives training. so red handles are uncommon for a reason: i dont want to accidentally have a sharp knife on the mat.

I think those candy cane scales are micarta.
Needed two hands just to open my Neutron2 because the pivot screw came tightened down ridiculously tight. Had to strip the knife right down and although it opens and closes with one hand and the blade is centered, the action just isn’t good. I think they warped the frame at the factory when they reefed down the pivot screw too tight. Bad quality control.

Those Neutron 2 scales are 3D red linen micarta. And those Atom scales are carbon fiber. Neither are G-10.
Pete, love the channel. Had a question - you said in an earlier video if you only have 1 knife you'd choose a Spyderco Caribbean I that still true? Or is it atom all the way now?
I love my neutron classic and have ordered and atom. The contoured scales of the newtron look great.

I like the TRM Shadow, the others don't sing to me, especially at their slightly too high price point. Slightly.
I have an Atom on preorder, even though I owned one in the past & sold it immediately after buying it. The problem I had was I felt the pocket clip was much too loose, even after adjusting the tension.
But this time around I plan to give the knife an actual chance, since last time I handled it for approximately 15 minutes before posting for sale.
I just hope I can get the pocket clip to work well enough for me this time. I'm looking forward to trying it out again.
Now I just need to somehow get my hands on a Shadow...
Contact Protech and for $5 they'll send you a Malibu clip with recessed screws that fits the Atom perfectly and has a lot more tension. You can pick plain, black or gray.
why didn't you just bend the clip to make it to your liking?

The Neutron is a better size for the type of knife it is. I think the atom is a bit to big for a light EDC still a great knife but neutron is a better size
They need to come out with a 3.25" tweener
@@holybotulism313 that would be cool but the size of the neutron for me is perfect I can get a full grip on it and it does every job I need it to. If I need to do more of a heavy duty job I'll pull out something bigger.

Glad you're feeling better! Out of curiosity did you get tested to see if it was COVID-19? On the knife, the 3d scales really do seem to add something over the flat ones like the Atom has.
