Dear Pete, I feel like I can call you Pete because you and me are so alike. I'd like to meet you one day, it would be great to sharpen some knives. I know I can't sharpen as fast as you but I think you'd be impressed with my speed. I love your hair, you sharpen fast. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about, and more. I know you have not been getting my letters because I know you would write back if you did. I hope you write back this time, and we can become good friends. I am sure our relationship would be really cutting edge.
The TRM quality is incredible. I've had my Atlas slipjoint for a few years and it performs way above the size and price, it is often my only knife even when I'm in the past would've brought a bigger knife.
A little too big for an office if one still works onsite. The big win is that the knife lab sound seems to have improved, not sounding like it is recorded in a steel bucket.
Great video. I have a TRM Neutron and I absolutely love it! Great knife and TRM is run by really great people. I can't say enough good things about TRM.
Hello, i have a little question. What steel to use for edc which is also able to do some tough work too. I saw many of your videos now, but im still not sure. Overall K390 (also watched BBB) is really good in edge stability with great edge retention. 4V and M4 seem to be good steels too. M390 and Vanax seem to be good choices, if you also want some corrosion resistance, but overall i dont know what steel is the best for me. So im searching for a good edc knife, 90 percent of the time, it will cut just "easy" stuff, some plastic like cable ties, paper, maybe wood and cardboard. But it should be able to handle harder wood, maybe some harder impact like beating (not real batoning but maybe i will have to do similar stuff) and even its stupid to do it with a knife, it should be able to cut through canned goods if necessary. Corrosian resistance is not a thing i really think about, i have oil and ill take good care of my knife. Maybe you can tell me, which steel i should use on my knife. I heared and learned a bit about normal things like toughness, edge retention etc. but then i discovored that there is a difference between raw toughness and edge stability/toughness and that made it harder to choose the best steel for my personal use. Most sides just talk about raw toughness and edge retention, they dont say sth about edge stability. So i see, my knifesteel needs to be kinda tough, so it wont break, if i baton a little peace of wood, it needs good edge retention but most of all goot edge stability, so the apex wont roll or even chip. What knifesteel is the best for these tasks? PS: Keep up that great work and hopefully my english is good enough, so you understand what im talking about. :D:D
Aaaannd this comment sent me on a throwback kick of what I now realize was some weird stuff. Salad Fingers, Homestar Runner, Dr. Tran & Happy Tree Friends. Wow.
Hi there. Where in Aus is the best place to get good knives? Also do you recommend buying direct from USA? Im in market for a good flipper. Cheers AJ from Sydney
Dear Pete I love your channel and based on your reviews last year I purchased a Spyderco chef which am very happy with. I live in Melbourne. With regards to purchasing knives in Australia where can I buy TRM atom knives? Cheers James
On another video you mentioned INOX as being a steel you liked. What INOX did you mean as far as composition? I know Victorinox uses something they call INOX? Thank you!
The pM2 is my go to edc. Absolutely love everything about it. Price was right for s30v. Would prefer a higher end powder steel, but then I would have to pay for that.... and I’m cheap.
I like it and I would buy one if ever available....but Spyderco compression lock knives will most likely always be my go to edc that being said I have never tried a button lock knive I have my eye on protech Malibu and Mordax??
I would love one of these, if it came in a left hand variant. I'm perfectly happy with a left hand liner/frame lock at lower prices, but once I've passed $120-150, I prefer a left hand or ambidextrous lock. Were I "normal" handed, I'd adore this.
I'm left handed.. I've carried knives with liner locks for a long time, before being able to close a knife one handed was an expectation, which the Axis lock really started. The Atom and the Neutron are such exceptional knives that it's worth using two hands to close them.
Luckily I'm a local and was able to get one from trm I live like 3 towns over from three rivers,ma.love my trm atom great blade if I had to make one complaint it would be the thumb stud it's kind of sharp and uncomfortable if the made it knurled it would be perfect but I remedied it by putting a red rubber o ring around it so its much more comfortable and it looks good with the black carbon fiber
Any chance there’s a Quietcarry Waypoint review in the future? Really liked your review of the drift, interested in your feedback on the Waypoint to see if it addresses some of the issues with the drift.
I’m into thick big knives like hinderers but this atom would be perfect for my fiancé. It’s such a slicer and not too big at all. Thin stock. Maybe the smaller one by them would be better.
Just want to say thanks for all your blade steel testing, it's very awesome and you're breaking your wrists for our scientific knowledge. So I appreciate that, and your goofy review styles are fun and add personality which is nice to see the true people even if it is exaggerated (in a good way) for our viewing pleasure. THE REAL part of this comment is just to say I don't get the looks behind that knife, I like everything else about it, just doesn't do it for me, but I guess I didn't hear much of your views on the aesthetics of the knife, kinda just looks like a shovel, designed for function and nothing more. Maybe you could put some cool stickers on the knife to help make it look cooler?
Shame they seem to be in short supply over here in Europe. On another note: when are you going to upload the review of the QSP Penguin? Curious to your thoughts about it.
Were your CF scales really rough around the edges when you got them? I have the same set of scales, and I had to sand mine with some 2k sandpaper to get rid of the prickly CF sticking out of the sides/edges.
I have 3 sets of scales and I've had to refinish every single one of them, the cf especially. They make great knives, but they're pretty careless with their finishing
@@porkroller That's sad to hear, I thought maybe mine were a one off. Have your tried some of the Gcarta options? They look pretty sweet, and I was thinking of picking some up.
@@birdlaw1019 I have a starry night set from the first batch, they're really really nice. Had to finish the rough edges, but they came nowhere near as bad as the cf. I'd def still grab a set if you can.

Hi, "no one" here. I managed to purchase my Atom with relatively little difficulty at all and I can tell you it is worth the time and effort to check the TRM website frequently. They are a small American company making quality knives at an affordable price. They don't outsource their production of knives to China in order to mass produce them. It's not their fault that they are suffering from the "Shabazz" effect. Also, their customer service is second to none. I had an issue with the one I purchased and they shipped a replacement to me the same day without me having to mail mine back first.
@@The_Murmanator I tried for over a year to get one, but finally I jumped on the website at exactly the right time and the website crashed. I emailed their customer service to complain. They asked what color I wanted and shipped me just what I wanted.
Yeah, buy right now at $200 . . . You can't do both, if you buy right now it's not under $200 and if you get it for >$200 you didn't just click/buy it, you had to wait and wait and hope and wait.
Not that you care to hear my opinion,BUT I find my crk large inkosi insingo pj to be my favorite and most carried knife. Its ergos, robust engineering, and whale penis shape. I find myself carrying it over all my spyderco and Benchmade, as well as my 21.
Guess I'm in the minority. I've owned 1 neutron, and 2 atoms (gave them a last chance). I sold all 3 of them. they all had centering issues with use because of pivot coming lose. Also their detents are the weakest of any higher end knife I've owned. All 3 of them would flick open when you shake down quickly. They do cut nice though. But the detent was a deal breaker for me. Also the action is awful you can't really flick them open unless you have the pivot pretty lose and the threshold between too tight to even open and lose is very small.
There are other knives out there that are as good or better in the same price range. I have one with "winged" CF scales and I'm not really impressed. The only thing is that, in 10 or 20 years where will you be at with TRM, and this knife. I dunno, I get that there's only one CRK, but Ive had my current large 21 since 2009, and I could as easily send it in today for service as I could then. So while other knives sometimes do stuff I think is cool (e.g. Shirogorov or any number of slipjoint makers), in the end just having the knowledge that a Sebenza is immortal has been worth it _for me_. I wouldnt be upset if that wasn't a criteria for other people.
Love your thoughts regarding the TRM Atom. You are, however, completely off the mark. The best edc by far is the Spyderco Endura in ZDP189. It's cheaper, more secure in the hand, the steel is (slightly) better, and it does everything the TRM can do. And I'm English so it's impossible for me to be wrong.

I’m sorry, I just don’t see it. It’s a good steel and a good grind, but... a liner lock just isn’t something I’m paying $200 for in a world where there’s a ton of stronger options. I really don’t see what this has that a maxamet Manix 2 doesn’t, etc.
