Only between people of the same delusions is god shared as a real being. Well done! Truly enjoyed your wise perspectives on the value of travel by foot and the grandeur of the mountains. @@wd1534 I've been there. Beautiful place. Reminds me of Trøndelag area here in Norway. In relation to America, one of the most amazing hikes I have had, was in the desert of Arizona. The pastel evening sky was surreal and exotic. I suddenly understood how tourists feel when they see our northern lights.
Congratulations! Thank you. You are talking from a point of view, from experience that most hikers have. Your opinions, your observations are relevant to average hiker. That makes your video interesting beyond the beauty of the trail.
What an awe-inspiring journey! What a gorgeous place! Thanks for sharing your hike with us. You really were in good shape carrying those packs up the mountains - glad you had no injuries. Thanks again from a fellow Norwegian. Peace and Blessings!
I did the UK Coast to Coast about 20 years ago. That was 320 kilometres in ten days crossing the English Lake District and North Yorkshire Moors. Surprisingly, the Yorkshire Moors was the hardest section as although the mountains we crossed were not as high, they were generally steeper which was hard on the knees when descending.
@@Refsenbro Very definitely. It takes you across the English Lakes District and the North Yorkshire moors. Being a popular route it is well served, so the popular thing to do is have a big bag driven to each overnight stop nd only carry a day pack. I have done most of the New Zealand Great Walks and the English Coast to Coast is as memorable as the NZ tracks.
What beautiful landscapes! Without a doubt, this planet is a wonderful place. Hi! I've been dreaming since years now to hike in Norway and especially in Lofoten! I'd like to wildcamp just like you two did. This video is literally how I've imagined it! I think this year I'm finally going to make my dream come true and go to Lofoten. But I don't want to do it alone. So do you know some local guides who'd be prepared to do this with me? In exchange of money, of course.
Was a dream of ours too, so we finaly decided to do it! (and show everyone else that is possible without being greatly experienced) We don't know any guides though, but I am sure you can book trips. Otherwise, you might have a friend or two with some hiking experience you can ask to come along? Hope you manage to go, it will be a great experience, I am sure!
I am a middle-aged man who likes mountaineering in Korea, who is fascinated by the charm of your hiking. I would like to use it as a model while appreciating your wonderful hiking experiences. Thank you for your generous guidance.
Good to see the lofoten's again I cycled through on my way from England to the north cap thirty years ago, cycling through the tunnels was a bit intimidating I had assumed they had bridges! These days when backpacking I use walking poles and a lighter pack
I agree that walking poles are a must on any trekking adventure for myself too. Much easier to climb and go down hills. Especially if it's slippery / rocky. You can always get 3 points of contact and stay safe.
Maybe late to the party but better late than never. Thank you Christian and Lina for sharing your journey with us. Breath-taking vistas and incredibly beautiful drone shots showing us how fabulous Norway is. One day, I hope to see some of these views with my own eyes, it's long been a dream of mine. A final mention though to Lina, a beautiful memory at ua-cam.com/video/3bl63l4miDU/v-deo.html but my palms were sweating watching this; very, very brave and then you climb to the Gates of Hell, fantastic memories for you both. Thank you.❤
Beautiful place, great film and quite brave filmmakers. Do you guys share somewhere online (or may be you can publish?) the actual route you took? Well done! Congratulations!
Thank you so much! This route is pretty similar to the one we took: www.rando-lofoten.net/en/the-long-crossing-from-north-to-south-on-the-lofoten-islands
This brings back memories of my own hiking trip there, starting in Å and finding my way to Bunes, Horseid and Kvalvika beaches. Bunes is the one that stays with me the most, camping on the beach with no else there. There was an enormous whale skull on the beach at Bunes and various Russian detritous washed up including an old safe. I spotted several whale vertebrae there and on Horseid too, huge things. It was mid summer and hovered around 6C. The thrill of standing on top of a ridge and looking out to sea on both sides of the island chain in daylight at 1am will stay with me forever. One thing I learned on that trip was no matter how good those mountains look from below, its nothing compared to if you get up amongst them for an elevated view. I saw almost no one up in the actual mountains when I was there, I felt I pretty much had the environment to myself. The footpaths were few and the maps really weren't that good so navigation was a bit tricky a couple of times.
Glad we could bring back some good memories! Sound like you had an awesome trip and some similar experiences to us. The footpaths were indeed few, making navigation tougher than we had imagined. We were glad we had prepared and brought good maps... and the views are just amazing from the tops!
The Lofoten Islands is (so far) my favourite place in the world, the only place where I really felt alive. Can't wait to go back. Cheers from Québec City!
I wish I could give this two likes! With over 50+ years of hiking, climbing, paddling, etc. behind me, I wold like to make a few comments: 1. For once the title wasn't clickbait. This really was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen and I have lived in and travelled to many different places. 2. I was momentarily taken aback when I saw a map, compass, and two people who obviously knew how to use them. I lost count decades ago of the people and groups I had to lead out of the backcountry because they couldn't navigate. Even more distressing was the number of people and groups I had to lead out of the backcountry that were carrying maps, compasses, and GPS receivers, but who didn't know how to use them. 3. I was honestly saddened to see that even a paradise like Norway has buffoons and idiots who are inclined to shoot holes in signs. Don't misunderstand me...I own firearms and carry one continually. But I can control my destructive urges enough not to spray the landscape with gunfire. Morons who shoot holes in signs are exactly the kind of creatures that should not be allowed to own or possess a firearm. 4. It was interesting to pick out cognate words of English-Norwegian. I had actually forgotten that both English and Norwegian are Germanic languages. At one time, speakers of Olde Norwegian, Olde High German, and Olde English had no difficulty communicating with one another. 5. One point that was clearly illustrated is that on long, arduous trips, minor conveniences are most important, yet simultaneously are least able to be accommodated because of weight/bulk restrictions. Our two intrepid trekkers were continually complaining of sore legs, yet they were toting along a tent that looks like it could sleep six. Instead of bringing along lightweight titanium mugs/cups they carried heavy wooden drinking cups. Before some know it all readers pounce on me for my statement: yeah, I got it. Bring along what makes you most comfortable. But don't bitch about the weight and/or sore legs. 6. Potentially contaminated water was mentioned. Really, no water filter weighing next to nothing? Leave behind the squad-sized cooking pot, get an Evernew titanium one, and bring a water filter. 7. She said she "could live there." Without the least bit of exaggeration or being dramatic, I could too. I am retiring next year, have no family, no children, no attachments, and all of my ex-wives have been paid off. My only problem-besides Norway's emigration policies-is one of money. My retirement will only be about US $5.000,00/month, and I'm not sure that's enough to live in such an expensive place as Norway. I would even be willing to learn the language and be an English language teaching assistant, but if I don't have enough shekels, I can't live there. 8. I think I would find some other convenience to leave behind and bring along a few hundred grams of extra fuel to heat my bathwater. The notion of wallowing around in near freezing water causes my testicles to ache. 9. If you look up the word "charming" in most dictionaries, you would see a picture of our two hikers. This is quite refreshing.
Sure it is nice in summer. Could you handle the winters? Or would you shoot yourself with the gun you carry continually? There are countries where you don't need guns and don't have bad winters. Mate they are just as beautiful. Do some more research.
Thank you for the nice and very honest comment! We appreciate it greatly! Regarding point 4, the English-Norwegian similarities are very funny. If you visit the Shetland Islands it is very apparent that the two languages are closer than one should think. It feels like hearing Norwegian but it's all English words. Regarding point 5, I don't hope it felt like we were complaining. We just thought the trip was tough and that leads to sore legs - not that we wanted to change anything! We were very focused on this being a trip for enjoyment, not a survival course, so we did bring items that weren't weight optimized but just increased the overall enjoyness of the trip (such as an aesthetic wood cup compared to bringing a plastic one). Again, thank you for the great comment! Hope you get to live here one day!
@@Oscarcat2212 : I have lived, not just visited, in Idaho, Wyoming, and Illinois to name a few. I don’t think the winters in Scandinavia are much more brutal than what I experienced living in those aforementioned places. As for carrying a firearm, I am a retired Deputy Marshal and retired law enforcement types tend to go armed. I am also a certified basic pistol and basic rifle instructor. I am certified to teach Personal Protection Inside the Home and Personal Protection Outside the Home as well as being a Chief Range Safety Officer. People with those types of teaching credentials also tend to go armed. Shoot myself because of a bit of nasty weather? Not hardly. I am nothing remotely close to being the suicidal type. I do suppose that there might be a reason to take my own life that I haven’t considered yet. In that case why would I choose a firearm and provide the spineless and the mentally infirm more reasons to blame an inanimate object for human death or injury? My home state is currently considering the use of nitrogen gas as a means of capital punishment. While I do not support the death penalty I can see why N2 might be chosen and why it would be an “attractive’ method of commuting suicide. Nitrogen is an odorless colorless gas that accidentally kills quite a few people worldwide each year. Nitrogen asphyxiation is completely painless and people being poisoned don’t even realize what’s going on. They just quickly and quietly lapse into unconsciousness. The result is a rapid, clean, painless death. You should try it sometime, preferably sooner rather than later. Do it as a favor to your parents who would forever be freed from the frequently embarrassing task of explaining away the antics of their idiot child.
@@flightsimvids2105 Thank you sincerely for your input. In many locales I know I could live well on that sum. But I was concerned primarily with income taxes. I have no form of any deductions or any mechanisms to lessen my tax burden. But after hearing your input, I think I will revisit the situation. Thanks again.

Hi Christian and Lina, amazing video of your trip through the amazing Lafoten and what a challenge. One question, are the hikes/trails registered? Or did you just follow the schematic map + compass to get from A to B? Because I am interested in which route you 'exactly' walked. Because it seems like the route is completely in the wild and too extreme for beginners (me and my gf). Thank you!
Hello! We combined many different trails but had periods ‘in the wild’. Mind you, in Norway the “trails” we follow are not marked and is merely just the path that other people have hiked previously and require som navigation. I would still recommend you going to Lofoten and maybe do some 1-day hikes if you are beginners. Feel free to write if you have more questions.

Thank you! You won't regret going to Lofoten! If you aren't too experienced in hiking, renting a car and just doing smaller 1-day hikes are amazing as well! Hope you get to experience it yourself!
I have been in Lofoten myself in 2007. It was a great time for me. Views were indeed fantastic. I slept in a tent as you were, it was the best vacation I've ever had. Norway is a beautiful country. Although I was there by car, the beauty of nature did not escape me. I hope to be back there again one day... Thank you for refreshing my memories :)
Thank you for the nice comment! It is an incredible place, even for Norwegian standards! Do you plan to do anything specific or do anything different compared to your trip in 2007 when you go again?
Actually I do. Last time I stationed in Harstad, so I travelled south. But I did not reach the Røstøyan island, finished in Reine. Next time I hope to be better equipped for hiking and go as far south as possible. And if I go, I will spend a lot more time there. Las time it was only 3 days on Lofoten. Much too short in my opinion. Warm greetings from Poland. We also have some beautiful places here. If you ever come here, you must visit Tatra mountains, and that's for starters...
@@Refsenbro There are plenty of routes in Tatra. Most used are Świnica and Rysy (the tallest mountain in Poland). But Rysy is an especially tough one (be prepared for some chains), and the weather is not always welcoming there. There is also one place I like and this is Karpacz, another wonderful place to visit. It's located in Karkonosze mountains. Perhaps you heard of Śnieżka (weather station is on top). And there are two small but charming waterfalls nearby, Kamieńczyk and Szklarka (both near Szklarska Poręba, just few kilometers from Karpacz). And that's not all, Polish mountains stretch for our entire south border. You could spend an entire summer hiking here. One more thing, there are a lot of mountain lodges on almost every route in here. You can take some shelter there, take some rest, have something to eat and drink hot tea.

We have something planned which might make be really good.
Depends on whether we get enough footage to actually make something enjoyable for others than ourselves to see.
@Refsenbro thanks for your response my friend. For sure filming and drone work does take time, but it does make for longer lasting memories. All the best on your next adventure.
Beautiful video, brave souls!
That was so enjoyable to watch from start to finish, loved it, thank you both. Love from Ireland

Well done! Truly enjoyed your wise perspectives on the value of travel by foot and the grandeur of the mountains. What an awe-inspiring journey! Trekking through the stunning landscapes of Lofoten for 14 days, facing challenges and embracing the Arctic beauty, truly captures the essence of adventure. 🏔 Your dedication to exploring the wild and sharing this documentary is truly commendable.
Kudos to the team behind this remarkable experience!
Using walking poles would make life easier. Went years without them and now will not go without them. Using them reduces strain by 1/3rd and makes going up hill so much easier. Wow, you guys were lucky with the weather!
It's fun to hear the Danish language together with the subtitles, so many words and phrases that are similar in Dutch.

Very lucky with the weather!
Haven't thought about Dutch nad Danish being very similar before, but I guess they both have similarities to German as a "gab" language?
@@Refsenbro I think it's the interaction that took place around the North sea throughout history. Also unknown to many is that a lot of Norwegians migrated to Holland in the 17th century.

Thank you for the great comment! I am sure you are in great shape as well? (Seems like all Norwegians are from a Danish perspective)
There are no mountains in England Trevor!
Are there free places to camp out in North Yorkshire Moors, like you can just camp for free in Norway?
Never hiked in GB ourselves, but have been looking somewhat into it lately. Would you recommend that route?
@@Refsenbro Very definitely. It takes you across the English Lakes District and the North Yorkshire moors. Being a popular route it is well served, so the popular thing to do is have a big bag driven to each overnight stop nd only carry a day pack. I have done most of the New Zealand Great Walks and the English Coast to Coast is as memorable as the NZ tracks.
The videos like this show the beauty of mother earth and the hidden gems. Awesome location.

(and show everyone else that is possible without being greatly experienced)
We don't know any guides though, but I am sure you can book trips. Otherwise, you might have a friend or two with some hiking experience you can ask to come along? Hope you manage to go, it will be a great experience, I am sure!
Did you do it? :)

Good to see the lofoten's again I cycled through on my way from England to the north cap thirty years ago, cycling through the tunnels was a bit intimidating I had assumed they had bridges!

Hope you also have to enjoy some great nature close to where you live?
Beautiful place, great film and quite brave filmmakers. Do you guys share somewhere online (or may be you can publish?) the actual route you took? Well done! Congratulations!
Thank you so much!
This route is pretty similar to the one we took:
www.rando-lofoten.net/en/the-long-crossing-from-north-to-south-on-the-lofoten-islands
I feel like Norway is a mini-Canada! Glad you like it too!
you there in Canada near Greenland have the same fjords as in Norway but we don't see tourists going there and traveling by foot.
I wish I could give this two likes! With over 50+ years of hiking, climbing, paddling, etc. behind me, I wold like to make a few comments:
@@LA_Viking you should be able to get by well on 5 grand a month in norway. Especially with a frugal outdoors lifestyle.
@@flightsimvids2105 Thank you sincerely for your input. In many locales I know I could live well on that sum. But I was concerned primarily with income taxes. I have no form of any deductions or any mechanisms to lessen my tax burden. Stack health care costs on top and I will have a difficult time even in my home country who appears to want to tax me at confiscatory rates.

So beautifu! Thank you!
